Absent/Withdrawn/Returning - Haru 2009

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what's up with Shishio? Meike, have you heard? Still the shoulder problem? He might be kyujo from sumo almost as long as I've been - well, he' HAS had more kyujo than I have - but I fear he will be off the banzuke if he doesn't return in May (Clapping wildly...)

He'll still be in jonidan next basho, so no danger of that yet.

Thanks, Aso. That's really good to know. I just hope he is totally rehabilitated before returning - he is one of sumo's most pleasant people.

Day 9

Action in the lower divisions (Sandanme and Jonidan this time), both withdrawals and returns:

Withdrawing

West Sandanme 68 TOMONOFUJI (2-2; fusen day 7)

West Sandanme 74 DAININ (2-2; fusen day 7)

Returning

West Sandanme 29 WAKAYUUKI (1-2; absent since day 7)

West Jonidan 32 KISENISHIKI (1-2; absent since day 7)

Only 1 of the 11 Jonokuchi rikishi who were absent on day 1 has returned to the basho. Surely a few others must be interested in staying on the banzuke? We'll find out in the next 2-3 days!

Day 12 Fusen

In addition to the fusen caused by Wakanosato's late withdrawal on Day 12 (West Maegashira 9 FUTENO won by default (6-6)), there was one other fusen match:

Thanks for posting the information about Wakanosato's withdrawal, Gernobono! (Sad goodbyes...)
