Jejima 1,426 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) I want to test something out regarding polls. (I want to see if it is possible to close a poll without closing the thread). So, if you have read this far - you might as well vote on the above poll, and help me out (Sign of approval...) Edited January 15, 2009 by Jejima
Jejima 1,426 Posted January 15, 2009 I think I have now closed the poll, but kept the thread open. If you have not previously voted in this poll (as I have) - please see if you can still vote - and report below whether or not you can. Many thanks :-)
Jejima 1,426 Posted January 15, 2009 Thank you. That is a shame though. It would be nice to be able to close a poll - but keep the thread open. I was thinking about the annual polls that I made - as it may be nice to comment on Kaio's results after this basho in that thread, but without reopening the poll, as it is too late to vote. Manekineko 200 Posted January 20, 2009 What you can do is lock the poll, copy the results (print-screen, for example), unlock the thread and post the results, encouraging further discussion. Maybe you can even edit the questions? I haven't tried it but I just might.

I know how to print screen and save, but I don't know how to then put that screen save into a post. Please teach! (Applauding...)

You can get this by simply right button highlighting the results, saving the data with the copy function in your browser and then pasting the data back into a reply. You could then do a bit of editting to clean up the display a bit. No printscreen required. Asojima 2,874 Posted January 23, 2009 I haven't found an easy way to get things lined up using pre. The way that I do it is by trial and error using spaces to move stuff and then doing a preview post to see what I accomplished. I just keep bouncing back and forth between edit and preview until it comes out right. The tab sucks in edit! There has to be a better way to clean up, but someone else will have to provide it. I do basically the same thing, though I do such edits in good ol' Notepad, with a fixed-width font naturally. Well, not quite the same thing, as I had no idea that the pre tags actually work these days...I impersonate their function by running a search-and-replace at the end (space characters -> non-breaking space characters, #160 on the charmap) before copying the stuff to a forum post.
