Who is this Yokozuna ?

Based on the clothing style, it may have been in the late 19th century. I vote for Y15 Umegatani Totaro from the late 1880's, but it is just a shot in the dark.

Thanks for your answer ;-)

I think it is much more likely to be the 17th Yokozuna Konishiki Yasokichi

Yes I think you are right (In a state of confusion...)

Thank you !

I find this woodblock...

Is It the same Konishiki on this woodblock and on this photo ?

heheh, assuming the french website linked above has its sources matched up, you can see a similar distortion in the woodblock of Umegatani. Seems there was artistic license in play there (In a state of confusion...)

Picture taken Sep 4, 1975: dejected Oshiogawa-oyakata (former Daikirin) and wife at the grave of his shisho Nishonoseki (former Saganohana), about half a year after his death and shortly after Daikirin was ousted in a succession dispute by the shisho's widow and his stablemate Kongo. (Longer form of the story here.)

Steroview by T. Enami. Via Pink Tentacle...

stereoview_1.gif

That is really cool. How did you get it to do that?!

Since it is titled stereoview, I have to assume it is a Stereogram, which is made of two pictures taken simultaneously or nearly so in order to mimic the angle of the perception of your two eyes individually so that a 3D composite can be seen by unfocusing your eyes to view each side independently. This was often done with a blinder dividing the two images in an apparatus called a stereoscope. We used to have an ancient one from my Greatgrandfather and I played with stereograms when I was little. And then of course I got a Disney Viewfinder for Christmas! I believe it operates on very much the same principle, but maybe is a bit more like 3D glasses?

But I digress. Since you may have known all of that already, we are looking at a .gif image, which we normally think of as static but it is pretty easy to create an animated gif using simple photoshopping or I assume a wide range of other graphics applications. This animation has only 2 frames...

Ok, must have been an exhibition match then. That oicho-mage fooled me.

It's the comedy sumo Kainowaka and Kongofuji performed a while ago.
