kaiguma 0 Posted March 25, 2007 Kirinji really resembles Izutsu Oyakata, moto-Sakahoko. Any relation or just a lookalike? i mentioned this myself a couple of pages before but got no answer, so i guess they look alike for no special reason .... That's what I thought. This thread is so long that i couldn't remember if I was making it up or not! And way too daunting to try and find it. Thanks for clarifying our lack of clarity on the matter. ;-)

aderechelsea 106 Posted March 26, 2007 Wajima The Tongans ... anyone care to post some info on them? I really had no idea about a Tongan community in Sumo back in the 60's. Is the article on the latest Ozumo magazine booklet to any relation? I cannot read it .... (Sign of approval...) A rikishi angling

Asojima 2,367 Posted March 27, 2007 (edited) The second one he's not Wakanoumi but must be Onishiki.Thank you for these pics! I was thinking Onishiki too, but didn't have anything for comparison. I am relying on memories from 35 years ago, and at my age, anything more than 35 minutes ago is questionable. Edited March 27, 2007 by Asojima

kaiguma 0 Posted March 28, 2007 Oh, now I know you're messing with us. "Wakajishi" is definitely a photoshopped image of Katayama made to look like an old picture. ;-)
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted March 28, 2007 Wakajishi has the dubious honour of having the record of most kabus held during his coaching career. No less than eleven (!) myoseki in only thirteen years. ;-)
