Fay 1,677 Posted February 29, 2008 one-two-punch Kotoshogiku went to a gym and tried a little boxing. He likes to watch K1 and boxing but says it's looks easier than it is in reality. Kotomyouzan (still called Kotoyamaguchi by Shogi) joins the little battle.
Fay 1,677 Posted February 29, 2008 Today Shogi tells us about the mawashi. Of course we all know that sekitori wear a white one and the lower divisions a black one during training. Kotoyamaguchi - Kotomyouzan is used as a scale unit to demonstrate to us how long the mawashi is, Yamaguchi is 1,73, the mawashi about 8 m. and from a different angle And sure we all don't want to miss a pic of Shoki eating another piece of cake
Fay 1,677 Posted March 1, 2008 Today we have a look to the "Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival)" which is held on March 3rd. It's a day to pray for young girl's growth and happiness. The Girl's Festival in the castle town of Yanagawa in the Fukuoka province is famous for its "sagemon" decoration. Hina doll displays, an important part of Japan's traditional Girls Festival of March, take on a unique regional aspect in Yanagawa. Along with the traditional tiered displays of dolls are so-called 'sagemon', or string hangings decorated with colorful spheres, paper dolls, colorful balls and other items. These decorations are believed to bring good luck during the season of the Hina Matsuri. The colorful and beautiful hanging decorations (sagemon) can be seen at many places in the city such as shopping arcades, stores, and alongside the course of Yanagawa's famous Kawakudari (canal cruise). Kotoshogiku gives us a link to the place Yanagawa. And I hope he will not get a cold standing outside in cold osaka

Fay 1,677 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) Today it's a great pleasure for me to present Kotoshogiku's special of my (former persistence watch and now Jonidan 116) adoptee Kotoyamaguchi :-), who is one of his tsukebito. He introduces Kotoyamaguchi to us and tells us, what we all already know, that he has got a new name: Kotomyouzan 琴明山(ことみょうざん) Real Name YAMAGUCHI Yuya Birth Date January 22, 1991 Shusshin Kagoshima-ken, Shibushi-shi Heya Sadogatake Hatsu Dohyo 2006.03 Height 173 cm, weight 130 kg tsetsetse, this is a breach of copyright, he stole a pic of me (no of course he didn't, I was gracious enough to allow it (Nodding yes...)) Kaikitsune Makoto 210 Posted March 3, 2008 What is Shogun's relationship with food? It doesn't even seem to matter what he eats as long as he eats something (even as banale as rice) and it is worth taking a picture and putting online. His blog is nice. Harry 67 Posted March 3, 2008 What is Shogun's relationship with food? It doesn't even seem to matter what he eats as long as he eats something (even as banale as rice) and it is worth taking a picture and putting online. His blog is nice. Gohan/meshi (ご飯/飯) is not banal! Not to me anyways. It lets me enjoy rice, rather than the flavors of the sauce and everything else which usually masks it. Sure, I enjoy it with a slice of fish or a grilled eel on top too but actually I prefer sashimi with gohan to sushi, even if it is my favorite style: nigiri (unagidonburi is really good though, 鰻丼). Some pour a cup of green tea into it but again I'd rather enjoy them separately. The same goes for miso which I prefer alone. To each their own though! He isn't alone in liking to put food on his blog though. Most Japanese blogs and social sites seem to have many pictures of food. People would think I was a food critic if I did that here! ilovesumo 12 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK.... (Sign of approval...) But I have seen them at MC DONALDS many times! Now philosophize about that... (Holiday feeling...) isn't it just the running gag of Oosumousan eating and eating and eating...? They eat every day- like any human who is able to/wants to, so- stuff to fill the blog. Harry 67 Posted March 3, 2008 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK.... What can I say? I enjoy plain white rice... regular and especially glutenous. Mmmm. I'm afraid I cannot philosophize about Big Macs or McRamen... Big Macs might help me gain weight if they didn't make me feel sick after dinner. But people taking pictures of heat lamp hamburgers I could perhaps meditate about. You're right that it is a good blog filler though. I wanted to write something in mine every day but couldn't think of what to say... perhaps I have my answer now. I don't believe that is all there is to it, however. I genuinely think many of them enjoy showing people their food but I could be completely wrong and looking for depth when there isn't any. ilovesumo 12 Posted March 3, 2008 When I had a japanese guest for 3 weeks in my flat, she took pictures of each meal. They love talking about food. But I just cannot understand. Kotomisen and Kotomyouzan are packing the big box, kesho mawashi, slippers, bandages, bath towels about 30 - 40 kg. But Kotomisen can handle it of course Kotoshogiku ready for his business trip He is feeling ok and his condition is good. He is focussing on the first day of Haru basho. Fay 1,677 Posted March 5, 2008 Nobody eating today ... Kotoshogiku had good keiko this morning with a lot of sweating. I'm lucky that my two Sadogatake adoptees are Kotoshogikus's tsukebito, so we have a lot of pics of them. Kotomisen is continuing his training with more or less perfect equipment and one more time Kotomyouzan and Shoki with his two boys

Fay 1,677 Posted March 7, 2008 No food for a couple of days but today we have a McDonalds festival (Being unsure...) Kotoyamaguchi and Kotomisen take two Kotoshogiku hopes to fight well in the basho without injuries. His first opponent is Toyonoshima and he has Tokitenku on the second day - should be a 2-0 for him, if you ask me (Clapping wildly...)
Gusoyama 105 Posted March 7, 2008 When I had a japanese guest for 3 weeks in my flat, she took pictures of each meal. They love talking about food. But I just cannot understand. Same with all the phrases about the weather... japanese way (Clapping wildly...) Sounds like the "japanese way" is a lot like the New Englander way. We love to talk about food and the weather. Almost all conversations with strangers start off with talk about weather around here.
Harry 67 Posted March 7, 2008 Now I have my meditation material for the day... (Laughing...) Koan upon which to reflect during mainichi zazen: if a rikishi eats hamburgers in the heya will he achieve yusho in the basho? (Laughing...)
Fay 1,677 Posted March 9, 2008 Osaka Basho started today and Kotoshogiku had his first fight against Toyonoshima today. Fay 1,677 Posted March 10, 2008 No pics today from Kotoshogiku. He is a bit annoyed because of his loss against Tokitenku. Tomorrow he has Kyokutenho, strong and tall he says, but he will do his own sumo - well we didn't expect anything else :'-(

Fay 1,677 Posted March 12, 2008 Kotoshogiku is asking himself what's wrong ... His condition is not bad, but he can't do his own sumo and couldn't attack Chiyotaikai good enough. Of course he will concentrate on tomorrow's bout against Kaio and give his best. And I will once more cross my fingers
Fay 1,677 Posted March 13, 2008 Oh, oh, Kotoshogiku in a little depression. He says he's sorry and apologizes for not doing better although he gets a lot of support. (Weeping...) He wants to break his losing streak and will gambarize of course. Tomorrow he has Ama (this shouldn't be a problem for him :-) ) ☆★★★★
Fay 1,677 Posted March 14, 2008 (edited) Yesssss, a win. Kotoshogiku is happy to write this in his blog and to bring good news to everyone who supports him. Ama had him at the edge but Kotoshogiku could hold off his attack and win the bout :-D. Yesterday he felt really sad but all the comments helped him. He will now try to keep on winning. Tomorrow he has strong Asasekiryu - fingers crossed again!! Edited March 14, 2008 by Fay
