Just ran into the word dayori だより which sounds a lot like diary to me and means nearly the same. (news, information).

The two classic examples are "kiru" - "to cut, to cut (someone) down" and "kill", and "okoru" - "to happen" and "occur".

hmm

got one which I always wondered about in sanskrit

"anata" (you) which in sanskrit means "no-self"
