Just curious... Why do you state that all rikishi have fought 11 bouts "unless otherwise stated"? Is it ever the case that they haven't?

When a rikishi drops out of the tournament because of an injury an comes back he will have fought less bouts than the others. In lower divisions not all rikishi fight on the same day, so there it is important to compare the number of bouts they have actually fought.

Umm.. Asashoryu hasn't fought a single bout this basho but he is listed at 0-11.

The score in the brackets: Asashoryu(0-0-11) shows the actual record.

Same for Kaio and Daimanazuru.

I get it. "Fought" is the key word here.

I guess my next question would be why Asashoryu, Kaio, and rikishi with losing records are on a "leader" board? You don't have to answer this one.

As a Baruto fan, and knowing his injury trouble, I've been wondering for a while now if that is exactly what he will do. Probably not, but if he picks up an unnecessary injury from day 13 onwards he'd feel very annoyed I think.

Unless you're at least a sekiwake, no win is ever "unnecessary". I assume that Baruto wants to fight in Makunouchi next basho, and the only sure way to do that from Juryo 9 is to zensho.

Not strictly true. Baruto himself went from J11 to makuuchi with 14 wins in May of this year. Tokitenku went from J10 to makuuchi with only 12 wins, and this query shows others who have made the jump with less than zensho fr4om J9 and below.

I also think the banzuke makers will know that Baruto is not a juryo wrestler and if such a thing as intentionally favourable banzuke-luck exists, he will get it and be in makuuchi come November. Just my opinion of course :-)
