Hi!

Recommended Posts

New member here! :) I'm a 32 yo Norwegian female who've been lurking for a few weeks, and thought I'd take the next step and register.

Back in -96 I moved into a flat with cable tv, and one evening I stumbled across sumo on Eurosport. Takanohana and Kaio were my favourites back then. Then I moved, and didn't have the chance to watch it again until this winter - and I was happy to discover that at least Kaio is still active.

Another fan is my 8 yo son, who's decided to become the next Baruto. ;)

Hoping to learn a lot from you guys!

Baruto (Clapping wildly...) is very nice to his mom. :-S You have something to look forward to. (Singing drunk...)

J is nice to his mum as well - though he's given me a few bruises. You see, he wants to learn sumo...and since there's no one else around to teach him I've taken on that task myself. He's got a mean leg hook, I can tell you (have no idea what that technique is called in Japanese though, am browsing the glossary atm). *laughs*

I suppose we look a bit silly to the passers by, but it's great fun and that's all that matters.

Thank you for the welcome too, philafuji. :) I won't have much to contribute with, I'm afraid. See if I can pick up a few things along the way, eh?

Koneko,

You will be surprised. You will be posting sooner than you think.

Example: Asking questions you have about sumo.

Posting information about the basho's.

Asking questions about some of the posts made on the Forum.

Don't hold back. Remember #The only dumb question is the one that is never asked". You will find members of this forum that can give you answers to your questions. We all try to help each other learn more.

Best of luck.

Philafuji

it is called "Uchigake" if it is an inside hook, or "Sotogake" if it is an outside hook.

(Thinking in depth...)
