Epiogue to

Well, former and still with mage ex-Tosayutaka (current Ajigawa Oyakata, also known as Gojira) had his danpatsushiki AND his wedding ceremony at the world- famous "Local Hotel" today. His bride is Eri Koizumi, tarento and three years his senior, as befitting an old-school rikishi. Some 370 guests were present. "I am looking forward to the future.." he said. His new wife, upon seeing him sans-mage: "It's like he's someone else.. (A lizard smiles somewhere..) He looks much younger!!" The baby is expected around February.

Tokushoryu has announced that he registered his marriage, as well as former sekitori, Higonojo?

Kotoyuuki got married over the holidays to an older woman  31 years old Ishikawa Tomi (?), a former nursery school teacher. The ceremony will be held on June 10th. What a hoot.

Newly-wed Kotoyuuki participated in the Nishonoseki Ichimon rengo keiko, held today at Oguruma beya. She calls him "Yuusan" and he calls her "Run". No mention of their past head to heads. "There are good times and bad times. I will be able to gambarize with someone supportive by my side. " he said. She is a good cook and sent him off with some onigiri to the keiko this morning. "She says she hopes I can remain active for as long as possible. As for my achievements, all kinds of people may say  all kinds of things about me but I have to shut the noise out. Using  this feeling as an incentive, I hope to rack up those wins! " he said earnestly.

Not one, but two weddings. Aoiyama (30) will be married on February 19th to a, yes, older Bulgarian woman of 35  Violeta Todorova (?), an architect. They have been going our for a year and a half. Tokushouryuu was married last June. No name of wife or any details given by his request. The ceremony will be held on February 11th.

Yamaguchi on the 1st has married an ordinary woman=no actress etc., but she looks like one and like this:

Homarefuji announced his engagement to Shoko Sakata at Isegahama beya today. "The oyakata would get mad at me if I made this type of face on the dohyo." He said with a big smile. As it turns out, Shoko's mother Atsuko and Isegahama okami Junko are related. He proposed to her last year after the Hatsu basho.

The wedding reception was in a hotel in Tokyo, about 230 guests, esp. from Dewanoumi-ichimon, Ura and Mitakeumi among them. Their parents' houses were about 80m apart, but 5 years apart they weren't acquainted - at age 13 he left to study at sports schools and she left early as well. She was working in Germany as an architect (apparently here) and had been giving lectures there at university (maybe Frankfurt-UAS). They met as the two were back in Bulgaria after the Natsu basho 2015 - at the dinner party of a friend of both they sat at the same table. Then at first a romance from afar between Japan and Germany. Chiyonokuni (26) on the 25th registered his marriage with same age Ai Hayashi (now Sawada), originally from Sakai-city, after a 7year relation. The first kinboshi (sumo slang for a beauty) before his first yokozuna bout, which should come with the rank he'll have next basho. The marriage reception is planned for Feb. 17th.

They had met when he was still makushita, before Haru 2010 at the dinner party of a friend. After the basho he asked her 2 times for a date and it became a relation. She worked at a golf shop in Osaka, and Natsu 2014, when he was in makuuchi, he made her to move to Tokyo. But he dropped to makushita again after injury and the apartment he payed for became to expensive - she had to move to a smaller one, 1 room only (as unmarried non-sekitori he had to live in the heya). During the 7 basho it took to return to juryo, she got a driver's license and the qualification as athlete body-care self-trainer (from the same Athlete food meister inc. where Kotoshogiku's wife got her qualification), while working till end of March for an airline at Haneda airport.

He proposed to her after the Hatsu-basho, first he had intended to wait till he got to sanyaku, but she told him "How about joining forces to get you to sanyaku?" and he got the resolve to marry then.

After a kachikoshi on the last day, Ishiura (27) at the senshuraku party announced that he had married nursery school teacher Kyoko Hiraoka (23) on Apr. 8th. They are together for 4 years now. The reception is planned for Oct. 1st.

Just had a quick flick back through the last couple of pages, and amongst the usual tarento, childhood sweethearts, etc. are two former nursery teachers, a nurse and a care worker. Are these on a list of approved occupations for potential okami-san?

Yesterday was the wedding reception of Homarefuji and Sachiko (did I mention how much I hate to guess names in kanji) in the Tokyo Royal Park hotel with about 500 guests.
