Murasakiayame 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Typically when a yokozuna loses, the spectators hurl their zabutons. So when you have more then one yokozuna, and they're not facing each other, and they both lose, what do the spectators do for the second yokozuna loss? Grab the nearest zabuton and hurl it again? Or do they only hurl their zabuton for the last match of the day?
Manekineko 200 Posted March 16, 2007 AFAICR, they usually wait until the last bout to fling zabuton en masse. Some enthusiast would chuck theirs regardless. And even if the last match wasn't spectacular, sometimes zabuton would rain in appreciation of the bout before that one. Alas, I have no evidence other than my fuzzy impression to support this claim. kaiguma 0 Posted March 17, 2007 (edited) In honor of Adere-san, I offer a much harsher perspective on throwing objects at the sporting venue, from Reuters: Toss your salad anyone? (Holiday feeling...) As for zabuton-tossing, it's good that they wait until the second match in your example . . . imagine the only zabuton left are the ones beneath the shinpan and sekitori ringside. Ouch!
