Zenjimoto 40 Posted June 26, 2003 After a delay in getting the banzuke of one game, the new 2003 Nagoya Basho SUPER BANZUKE is finally ready! Yokozuna Doitsuyama retains the top spot in the ranking as the sole Yokozuna, while Ozeki Ekigozan, Flohru, and Chiyozakura all retain their ranks, with Ekigozan taking the Ozeki East spot for the first time ever. Kintamayama and Igiski join the Ozeki ranks, promoted from Sekiwake. Moving into the vacant Sekiwake spots are Leonishiki (from Komusubi) and Rannohana, who makes his Sanyaku comeback from Maegashira 4! Former Yokozuna Yubiquitoyama makes his Sanyaku return as well, sitting on the Komusubi East spot, while Feginowaka narrowly hangs on to his Sanyaku spot, falling from Ozeki to Komusubi. Taking a deep fall is Hamanoyama, who drops all the way from Ozeki West to Maegashira 2 West. Gernobono's tenure in Sanyaku only lasted one basho, as he falls from Komusubi to Maegashira 5. Wasarabiyama and Gachinco become the first players from the Japanese sumo games universe to earn SUPER BANZUKE points in a non-Japanese game, as they both moved into the top-40 in the Sekitori-Oracle game. Taking a deep fall is Hamanoyama, who drops all the way from Ozeki West to Maegashira 2 West Now I roughly know how Yubiquitoyama must have felt after his disastrous Hatsu Basho, where he fell from Ye all the way down to M2e (from No 1 to No 13!). For me this past Basho (the Natsu 03) was extremely frustrating. I lost my Ozeki in all the games (Hoshitori, UDH and German TipSpiel), made an inimitably zenpai (0-15) in SumoGame, had a disastrous GTB and as I lost points in almost all the games (except JuryoGame),I fell from Ozeki almost down to the Maegashira ranks. At least I could hold my Sanyaku place, but only thanks to Hamanoyama's intai from German Tipspiel. Be warned, I will come back and try to regain my Ozeki ranks (in the Superbanzuke an the games, where I've been Ozeki before). Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
