Asashosakari 18,837 Posted November 12, 2006 Also, I imagine that the variable of the "perfect player" can be more volatile than you'd like, giving less instead of more stability to the game. FWIW, going back a year of hypothetical waves, things seem to be relatively stable, at least as far as the game length would be concerned. If anything, the actual first wave was an especially quick one. Oshirokita 173 Posted November 12, 2006 As it is, playing this game is much more difficult than I originally thought. Reaching sekitori ranks is extremely complicated as Oshirokita will probably attest to (he sticks in upper Makushita for a loong time now). It is VERY difficult to get into Juryo and stay there. When I did get up into Juryo (my pick made it to J13w) I used my last joker to pick both Juryo rikishi below me (J14e & J14w) in the hopes of moving up and both of them got make koshi and forced me back in Makushita. As the Pick the Yusho Winners game will attest, it is not easy to pick the best rikishi in upper Makushita (or one with enough promotion power to get high into Juryo). Makushita rikishi who get promoted to Juryo usually fill the bottom spots in Juryo so it is something of a barrier to this game. I do hope however that someone will be able to make it to sanyaku in Banzuke Surfing before the game is given another arbitrary finish line.

Randomitsuki 2,768 Posted November 21, 2006 Standings after day 10: Oshirokita is still in danger of being overtaken by Torideyama and Exil. They surf with Miyamoto (3-2) whereas Oshirokita's Daishoyama wave (2-3) doesn't move too well. After nakabi both rikishi were at 2-2, but now the difference is the same as before. Randomitsuki 2,768 Posted November 26, 2006 (edited) Final standings 1st Wave: Wow, what a finish, what a turmoil. There have been more turnarounds since day 10 than I can ever remember. Many players moved from 2-3 after 10 days to a KK: Jakusotsu, Imumaru, Gusoyama, Holleshoryu, charliki, Mattjila, Frinkanohana, Andoreasu, and most notably, sashimaru. Some poor souls went from 3-2 to MK: furanohana and Yubiquitoyama in Makushita, and Konosato in Jonokuchi. Here are the final standings, sorted by estimated rank. Please take this with a huge grain of salt, your actual ranks can vary quite a lot (I never find the time to polish these estimates). It will be very close at the top. The only certain thing is that long-time leader Oshirokita will drop to fourth place. The top will be decided in a photo finish between sashimaru and Torideyama/Exil.
