He is out with the knee injury.

Auw. That movement resembles the technique for tearing the leg of a roasted chicken.

Hopefully it isn't too bad. Looks very painful though.

I think he is far too heavy and big to do those pulling moves. If they fail, the backwards momentum is so great that he will have difficulty controlling himself. He is simply too big to be playing fairy tinkerbell (or Nac Mac feegle for that matter ;-))

With his size and strength, he should always go forward and dance.

Check out his leg position after being backed out by Taikai on Day 1. He came close to getting the same injury then. A few ballet lessons may be in order. ;-)

He should practice suriashi when he gets well - very useful for sumo (Yusho winner...)

One month to heal. The diagnosis is 左ひざ内側側副靱帯(じんたい)、前十字靱帯損傷 -"left knee interior supplementary ligament, frontal cross ligament injury".

Now, there should be one word for all that.

Ouch?

Tough luck, but yes he needs to be going forward, and poor sumo is a cause of this injury. Next basho he should presumably fall down the banzuke far enough to have a "tune up" basho in the relatively easier lower ranks before returning to Joi.
