    Chaingang non slaughter....

Actually, what is also interesting, day 3 result shows there have been a lot of diversity in picks, not just a single bandwagon! (Shaking head...) ;-) :-(

    Nagoya Basho Viewing

Oh really? I admit I do not watch stream regularly, but as far as I remember, it has never happened to me to be kicked out due to maximum number of connections, whatever time I tried to connect.

    Evolution of Sumo

We had this discussion recently, and while I might have generalized a bit too much, the thing is that most rikishi probably aren't fluent enough to discuss such abstract matter like the evolution of sumo. Plus, no active rikishi is a member of this Forum (although former rikishi Kagamifuji was a member for a short while several years ago. And while he is American, it seemed that he got into Ozumo by strange coincidence. At his young age of 15 or 16 he did not even know very basic things about the workings of Ozumo, let alone about technical evolution). Ahh, all right then, I was beginning to think you were meaning your assessment literally. Thank you for pointing me the language topic, interesting indeed, I have missed it. :-)

Hokutoriki komusubi promotion seems to be even more salarycap, doesn't it? :-) :-)

    Evolution of Sumo

Personally, I do view it (and opened the thread at least three times to see the development) because I am interesting in any answer given, not in answering the question myself. And perhaps many other viewers do it similarly. Oh really? I was expecting at least some of Ozumo rikishi were speaking English, it is quite common second language after all, isn't it? :-)

    Asa and Hakuho

Uhm?! Obviously I know nothing about sumo first-hand, but years of reading both SML and SF hint me that unnecessary pushing after the bout is over is untolerable in general, especially from yokozuna. Of course, the respect from other rikishi to yokozuna should be paid, but bouts have their own etiquette and not-kicking-defeated-foe (Sign of disapproval...) seems to me to be one of the most important. Am I wrong?

Natsu basho ticket sales - new guidelines

(I am going off-topic...) Just for the record, I am reading this only on April 3rd, so I may be forgiven for considering that true. In Slovakia we had this year maelstrom of jokes - interspersed with quite a few shocking yet truthful news - and I have hoped that they are over... well, not yet. I have begun to suspect something in post #7 as this flash requirement seemed strange and post #10 has revealed it. (Blushing...)

    The Economics of Sumo

Sorry to everyone for (I am going off-topic...) Thank you very much. Ah, I see. I tried to look for it in English online version, but in vain. I also tried to google it as I expect the article was based on some research, perhaps published elsewhere, but still in vain too. If anynody knows more, please, let me know, that is interesting piece of information... (reason for edit: typo)

    The Economics of Sumo

(Sign of approval...) Uh, is it available online, please? I would like too see, read and link it, if possible. If not, in which paper was it printed?

Day 12 results and day 13 pairings

C'mon, boys, henka or not henka... it depends on the definition of one. Close to my view. What I have seen - and watched repeatedly - it was the movement of Wakanoho. He moved forward with all part of his body at the beginning. Hands obviously the most, but also torso and feet. Only after the first jump he stopped and pulled Kaio down. I wonder, what the opponent was doing or thinking of doing. Seems to me like Wakanoho started quicker and capitalized on Kaio's expectation of impact, quickly changing movement direction from forward to slightly backward. All in all, although it surely was not forward sumo from Wakanoho, I think it is more Kaio's fault as he was not able to respond to the change. Of course he is not among the youngest there anymore (Showing respect...)

    New game-Relative Stairways

Naturally not. Hunting real game is something expected taking into account parrots' presence and squeaking abilities.

    New game-Relative Stairways

Hey guys, please, be reasonable. You are talking about parrots all the time, completely neglecting other aspects, err, "special" elements of the game. Namely, this no-step-on-dohyo requirement obviously applies to all living positions in the game, i.e. captain, parrot, chanko-maker and avatar. On the other hand, it does NOT apply to non-living (I hesitate to call them dead or undead) positions, such as relative stairway and third wheel.

    New game-Relative Stairways

Just like Jejima, I feel there a few unclear points: - Can the parrot be used for making chanko? I know parrots are expensive, but on the other hand I have heard they are quite tasty. - On more general note: there is no indication about what happens if the real rikishi goes kyujo or intai during basho. I infer from rules that if parrot is indeed used for chanko and goes intai, relative stairway is transfigured into a new parrot. But what happens with captain position? In soccer, for example, the captainship is passed on the captain's discretion. - I desperately need rules for counting of points, Banzuke restrictions, and kosho NOW, as without them I cannot make my entry! And I would like to be in SO MUCH!

I have just uncovered that Hatsu GISP results are online. Congratulations to my compatriot Misisko! (Clapping wildly...)

    Super Banzuke whereabouts...

Great work, indeed. (Being unsure...) Am I right that with The Kyushu Basho 2007 SB Masters Series calculated and published you could also close 2007 World Championship? It looks like you want to hold especially lazy people (lazy to do own calculations) in suspense. (Whistling...) (And by the way, in Hatsu 2008 GISP I have mistakenly used shikona Ruziklan instead of Ruziklao. It's me, somehow my fingers slipped... (Spooky TV program...))

    Seki-Quad Hatsu 2008 daily commentary

Great! Actually, it is possible that the first two days of basho I have missed in fact helped me. If I remember correctly, they were low-scoring and by saving some sure picks lost by other s4kishi in the storm of surprises over first two days, I have been in good position for next days. It was already known, who is weak and who is genki... (Showing respect...) You can add to that a good portion of the newcomer's luck. Besides points in one of my previous posts I would like to elaborate on Senshuraku. I had to make picks for day 15 early on Friday, without knowledge of the torikumi and thus I have just blindly chosen among sekitori left unpicked. Good luck again... but then again, finishing 8-5-2 and on the 8th-10th place, that is great! (Jumping in ecstasy...) Thanks to Golynohana for running the game and to Asashosakari for providing the colourful commentary every day!

Last Call for RotoSumo - Hatsu 2008

What a day in RotoSumo - I have scored 14 points!!! ;-) Anybody wants them, I can sell them at good price... they cannot help me in any case... RotoSumo standings, look for Ruziklao and day 10...

    Chiyotaikai's basho- it's kyujo time

Actually, ozeki scores sum is negative (10-14), while lower sanyaku sum is positive (14-10) at the moment. Taking into account that komusubi already faced one yokozuna each, while ozeki did not, it says something in the direction of Washuyama's feeling.

    Seki-Quad Hatsu 2008 daily commentary

(and Ruziklao promptly points to newcomer's luck - for three days in the row he has been considering some of daily losers picked by other rikis4hi and somehow he selected enough daily winners) :-)

    Hoshitori Game Hatsu 2008

Indeed extremely interesting, kudos to Doitsuyama for this excellent rewriting! I hate to say this >:-( , but I was looking at careers of some seasoned veterans and surprisingly I was quite badly surprised by the level of their performance. Naturally, I am nobody to criticize them (Clapping wildly...) and thus I just ask: For how long can one sit at yokozuna spot without compromising the value of the rank? When should a yokozuna retire?

    Kyokai in self-reflection mode?

Believe it or not, I had written "Surely no money were involved in this reasoning.", but then I followed the general advice "Think twice before hitting the Post button!" and erased it to avoid sounding trivially. :-S

    Kyokai in self-reflection mode?

Seemingly I am misreading something here or I am just totally lost in mentality differences... As I understand it, this reunion of former Taiho, Takanohana and Chiyonofuji will take place outside the Pro-sport awards, won't it? Were any reasons given for rejecting the awards? As you mention in the thread name - Self-reflecting over Tokitsugate or Asagate or overall direction of sumo for next period? On another note, what is the share of quilt of Hakuho or Goeido on these issues, stripping them from getting earned honours?
