Yes, especially TTT and UDH are looking extremely promising. In TTT a 9-2 after Day 11 and only 4 chasers at 7-4 (two of them with a significant worse TB) raises hopes for the big fish. And 9 points ahead of the field after 10 days is a nice intermediate result in UDH. Today was not that bad with 27 points but I expect lower scores in the next days as many of the weaker Rikishi will be scheduled against each other, thus the winners will not contribute to the score. Not expecting so much from Norizo Cup as I won't get 100 points for the correct Yusho prediction. Finishing somewhere between 5th and 8th seems realistic. And slapstick in Seki-Toto today. Obviously my picks went not through and today of all days I forgot to check the confirmation mail. Would have had 21-10 today, i.e. a win. This might cost me a fraction of SB masters points. Damn. After Day 9 a few good chances for SB masters points have faded away, but there is still a lot of potential. In detail: Dailies Chain out on day 1 - after slipping from #1 to #3 in the ranking already last time I will surely drop out of the Top 10. Meh. Odd - 9 bets, 8 losses. But I'm not far away from the KK line. Would be happy with 8-7. ISP 1-8 - LOL, ranked #162 among 163 players, what a shame. SG 3-6 - sub par picking plus daily aites doing well. Let's minimize the damage. BS 5-4 - nice turnaround from 1-4. Watch me flying to 11-4, but as I'm ranked in Juryo there is no chance for SB masters points. S4 3-6 - Meh. TTT 7-2 - Sitting in the drivers seat. Potential for SB masters points. Toto 6-3 - picking well in Juryo but Makuuchi costs me big, nevertheless there is potential for SB masters points. DST - haha, was co-leader after Day 6. With today's donut I dropped to #15. Pre-Basho JG – shared #16, but with Ikioi and Mitoryu in my team I'm losing ground every day. POG - ranked #11, just 1 point behind #10. Potential for SB masters points. OBG - shared #5. Potential for SB masters points. NC - #2 after Day 8, but I'll get neither points for Yusho nor for bonus. Potential for SB masters points. UDH - #6 after Day 4. Scored 30+ four days in a row since then. Potential for SB masters points. TH - shared #4. Still I can hardly believe it. Potential for SB masters points. RS - lost ground and dropped to #34. SCS - shared #10 after 8 days. Suddenly there is potential for SB masters points. S-O - way too early, but here is some hope for a few SB masters points. Best chances in TTT and UDH, I could finish somewhere between 20 and 60 SB masters points. Ganzohnesushi

GTB was a low scoring affair due to some weird decisions by the Banzuke makers. Now I'm really curious what we can expect from Sekitori-Quadrumvirate as we are already down to only 63 Rikishi. Days 14 and 15 will be hell with only a couple of poor performing Rikishi left. Thus a 9-6 Yusho would not surprise me... Ganzohnesushi

Don't worry too much. As everyone else in KK territory in Juryo can be expected finishing 8-7 only, you still will climb up a couple of ranks. As usual we can expect approx. 8 Rikishi being demoted from Makuuchi, thus you may jump from J2e to M12 or so... Now take care and don't slip from KK to MK Ganzohnesushi

Some very promising results after Day 6, but also a few nightmare games. In detail: Dailies Chain out on day 1 - after slipping from #1 to #3 in the ranking already last time I will surely drop out of the Top 10. Meh. Odd - 6 bets, 6 losses. The only positive is having lost only 1 Ante per day ISP 1-5 - what a mess SG 2-4 - picking average but daily aites are doing well BS 2-4 - jammerschade S4 3-3 - Just average TTT 4-2 - I’m one of the 12 co-leaders, yay. Potential for SB masters points. Toto 5-1 - chasing the two leaders. Potential for SB masters points. DST - after 2 x 15 points on Days 5 + 6 I’m suddenly one of two co-leaders. Potential for SB masters points. Pre-Basho JG – shared #10, but as far as I can see a few players might drop a couple of ranks after correction. Potential for SB masters points. POG - shared #13, just 1 point behind #10. Potential for SB masters points. OBG - currently #6. Potential for SB masters points. NC - #14 after Day 5, Day 6 went very well. Potential for SB masters points. UDH - #6 after Day. Potential for SB masters points. TH - shared #9 in my worst game. Very promising. Potential for SB masters points. RS - also shared #9. Potential for SB masters points. SCS - #19 after 5 days. Not that bad but not good enough for any SB masters points. S-O - after 10 or 12 days we will see whether there is potential for SB masters points. All in all I’m happy so far with Aki Basho. Ganzohnesushi

On Day 3 finally my first wins in the two H2H games to get 1-2. 1-2 it is also in ISP, S4 and TTT. Out on Day 1 in Chain didn't make me happy either. Odd also is crap so far. Surprisingly doing well in Tippspiel (shared 4th) and 3-0 in Toto is my daily highlight so far. Pre-basho games are running great though I feel my picks are only performing slightly above average. How bad must have picked the rest of the combatants... But with 12 Days to go a lot can (and will) change. Ganzohnesushi

    Bench Sumo news

I don't think so. With M1e Terunofuji there is an additional weapon for big scores. And I'm really curious whether we will see an all Ozeki line-up in points... (Asanoyama/Takakeisho + 4 former Ozeki). Ganzohnesushi

    Norizo Cup 2020.7

Yes, I think it is time to say a big THANK YOU to Susanoo for all his efforts around Norizo Cup. Life for us non-Japanese gamers/speakers has become much more comfortable since Susanoo has taken over the translation duties. The repeated disappearance of entries indeed is annoying. As Panda already has mentioned double check before the basho starts is highly recommended. My name was already twice on the entry list one or two days before the basho and a couple of hours before the start it has disappeared. Must be some kind of a black hole, a real mystery to me. A so/so basho has come to an end. Wasted a few opportunities for more SB masters points, e.g.three losses in a row in SG after looking good at 8-4. Pre-basho picks worked much better than the dailies with good results in POG (9th, 11-4), Oracle (4th, 12-3) and NorizoCup (5th, 11-4). Grabbed another 1.5 points in JG and did surprisingly well in Odd (8th) for another 3 points. Summa summarum 21,5 points so far plus x from UDH where I expect a top 10 finish (was 2nd after day 6). Not that bad but also not really good. Much space for improvement in Aki. Ganzohnesushi

Sorry Simon, but I don't buy this. For me this thesis comes totally out of the blue. With the same impudence I could claim that Hakuho under normal circumstances would have finished 12-3, Kakuryu 11-4, Abi definitely 8-7 and Kotonowaka of course 9-6. So all these withdrawals hit me the hardest. I'm 100% sure this cost me my 4th Oracle Yusho Ganzohnesushi

Winning this easily? Really? Sounds a bit arrogant. As reigning SB Yokozuna I would expect a bit more respect from you for the other combatants. And believe me, other players were affected by these kyujos in the same way. You better watch out for Derosa and especially Oshirokita who is my hottest candidate for the Yusho as of now. I might be finishing somewhere beween #3 and #8 or so. Ganzohnesushi
