Congratulations to Flohru on winning his SIXTEENTH yusho in this game X!V!I! Gurowake takes the jun-yusho. Thanks to everyone for playing!
-
Congratulations Kuroimori! Torafujii takes the jun-yusho with the drone Genzai. Thanks to everyone for playing!
-
Here are the standings after Day 14. Kuroimori has a good lead and a chance to earn yusho points with Enho in Sandanme and Harumafuji in Makuuchi. Torafujii has Masunoyama in Sandanme (3-4) so no chance to take advantage if Enho loses the playoff match. He does have Harumafuji though. Tsubame has Enho but no other yusho contender.
-
I have other business to attend to but I will try to get back on to present Sandanme standings later this evening (for those players who play both games).
-
Considering the potential yusho winners ... In Makuuchi, no one took Goeido. In Juryo, co-leaders Kotoyuki and Aminishiki were selected by one player each (Flohru and Achiyama respectively). In Makushita, Mitoryu was chosen by Kuroimori. In Sandanme, about half the players chose Enho. I was the only one to select Tanabe. No one selected any of the Jonidan leaders. Almost all of us selected Jonokuchi leader, Shoji.

Here are the standings after Day 12. It will be interesting to see if anyone can catch Kuroimori once some yusho points are awarded.
-
Here are the standings after Day 10!
-
These are the standings after 6 days. Profomisakari and Kuroimori are tied for the lead. The most popular choices are also doing very well.

しらべてみます ... Ok, yes, sorry, I missed your entry for this game and only input your Sandanme Game entry. It's not that you're so bad. You had 7 points after Day 2, despite having selected Hakuho as your Yokozuna. I gave you the default replacement which is Mukashi's choice. Not much better - it's Tochiozan (best record last basho among non-kyujo komusubi or higher rank). You will find yourself in the standings properly when I post the Day 6 results (assuming I get that done before Day 7 results trickle in).
-
P.S. Profomisakari continues with his momentum from last basho!
-
The standings after Day 2 are presented in the post above. I wanted to provide the results through Day 4 but I can't easily separate the early division results from Day 5 so I prefer to send these - everyone will have the same number of bouts. I've done the most time consuming part of the admin job so from now it will be easier to produce results. I want to provide a better experience for you this basho so I hope to present updated standings more frequently than in recent tournaments. Thanks for your continued interest in this game. I wouldn't have continued without your persistence!

After Day 4, Flohru has taken the early lead in this game. If time allows, I would love to post the full dohyo-iri and detailed results but for now, here are the standings (the post above) Thanks to everyone for sticking with this game. Without you, I would have lost my motivation.

this is to bump the topic - there is still time left to place an entry!

I can understand your decision very well. I have been struggling to stay active in the games and games administration for a while now myself. I will miss you as a rival on the virtual dohyo but I am greatly relieved to hear that you will continue to prepare the MCP and manage the Makushita Game. The MCP in particular is something that motivates me to continue participating! The launch of the Makushita Game gave me the final push I needed to create the Sandanme Game which also prepared me to take over as caretaker of the PTYW game. Thanks for stepping up and providing that outlet for fans of the lower divisions. As a player, you entertained us with your prolific comments each day. Once I got too busy for sumo, I couldn't find time to read all of them but I was impressed with your dedication to the task. That sort of thing makes the games more engaging for everyone. Also, as a player, you challenged me with your algorithmic approach. I can understand and appreciate what you were doing and it frustrated me that I didn't have the time or the skill level to prepare my own algorithmic tools to assist in my sumo gaming. I don't think I will ever bother to develop my own system now but I thought about it a lot thanks to you! Good luck with your life outside sumo gaming. If you continue to stay involved at some level, I will be grateful for that, but mostly I hope you find balance in your life so that you can better enjoy your leisure time whether it involve sumo or not. Look me up if you are ever near the Pacific coast of Canada!

This is the thread for the Pick The Yusho Winners (PTYW) game for Nagoya 2017.Until further notice, the game will run just as it has the last several times. I will compile the results and post them as best as I can on this thread. This is a pre-basho game where each player selects a rikishi from each of 8 sections of the banzuke. The player earns points for each win, each kachikoshi, and each yusho earned by their team of 8 rikishi. The sections of the banzuke are these:Sanyaku (Y through K)MaegashiraJuryoUpper Makushita (Ms1-15 ) (not including any tsukedashi of any rank)Lower Makushita (Ms16-60 plus tsukedashi if any - including Ms 10 or 15)Sandanme (plus tsukedashi if any)JonidanJonokuchiThat's it! Simple to understand, difficult to master. The hallmarks of any engaging game. Please send your 8 selections to me before the beginning of action on Shonichi.Itachi: nmatsuo@shaw.ca or by pm here at the forumAs a reminder, I am only a temporary caretaker of this game until Oshirokita can address the reconstruction of his system. All banzuke, website, and records updates will be on hold until then but the game itself and results postings will continue here on this thread.Good luck with your picks.

Congratulations to Flohru on winning his 15th yusho in this game for Nagoya 2017! Thank you to everyone who entered! I would not like to kill this game but I am really struggling to find time and energy to produce the results. I promise to compile results for everyone who enters but it may be quite late again. I will consider whether Aki 2017 should be a kyujo for the game. I will post an invitation or a cancellation in the next few days. Thanks for your interest and your patience! Itachi

The Sandanme Game will run again for Nagoya 2017. I was very close to giving this game a kyujo for Natsu but one of you took the time to send me an entry before I could make that announcement. There may be a delay in getting the results to you but I will set up the game, record your entries, and compile and present the results. Hopefully, I can catch up on the banzuke making as well. Thanks for your patience and continuing interest in the game! Here is the usual invitation:For the Sandanme Game, please send me your list of 15 rikishi from the usual segments of the banzuke.Sd 1-5/6-10/11-15/16-20/21-25/26-30/31-35/36-40/41-45/46-5051-60/61-70/71-80/81-90 and 91-100+ (91-100 including tsukedashi if any)Your rikishi earn points for each win, for a kachikoshi record, for leading their group, and a bonus for the best scoring rikishi on each team based on how close they were to the yusho winning record. The result is adjusted so that the best possible score gets a 15-0 result. The drone Mirai knows the future and always selects the best rikishi in each group. This shows us what the best possible score would be at each stage of the game. The drone Genzai picks the most popular rikishi from each group. This drone has tended to score well. The drone Mukashi picks the rikishi in each group who had the best record last basho. This drone isn't expected to score well but sometimes surprises us.Send your entries to me at nmatsuo@shaw.ca before any of your selections enter the dohyo for their match (and preferably a few hours before that). Edited May 11 by Itachi to clarify treatment of tsukedashi

Congratulations to Profomisakari for Nagoya 2017! This was his 2nd yusho during the Itachi administration of this game. Thanks to everyone for playing. I realize that it must be frustrating to play a game where the results may be much delayed. I would like to keep this game alive but I realize that I cannot promise to produce timely results as things are now. My energies are expended mostly with my non-online activities and I find that I have little brain energy left for this kind of thing at the end of the day. If you send me entries for Aki 2017, I promise to produce results ... eventually. I would like to produce them each day but I don't expect that I will find the time and energy for that this month. I will post an invitation in a few days or post a kyujo notice. I haven't decided yet. Thanks for your interest and your patience! Itachi
