    Sandanme Game Aki 2018

The Sandanme Game will run again for Aki 2018. Please note the change in email address at the end of this post. I can still receive your messages at my shaw address but I'm transitioning to the gmail one. I have been very close to giving this game a kyujo for a few basho now but since some of you continue to take the time to send me entries, I feel compelled to keep it going. Last basho, I had technical difficulties that prevented me from posting tables of results on the forum. I have begun the process of setting up a website for posting results if the problems with posting to this forum continue. I have no experience with creating and maintaining a website so I'm not sure how that will go but I am determined to find a way to share the results of your entries with you. If all else fails, I suppose I could just send the spreadsheet to each of you by email but I'd rather post it for all to see. There may be a delay in getting the results to you but I will set up the game, record your entries, and compile and present the results. Hopefully, I can catch up on the banzuke making as well. Thanks for your patience and continuing interest in the game! Here is the usual invitation:For the Sandanme Game, please send me your list of 15 rikishi from the usual segments of the banzuke.Sd 1-5/6-10/11-15/16-20/21-25/26-30/31-35/36-40/41-45/46-5051-60/61-70/71-80/81-90 and 91-100+ (91-100 including tsukedashi if any)Your rikishi earn points for each win, for a kachikoshi record, for leading their group, and a bonus for the best scoring rikishi on each team based on how close they were to the yusho winning record. The result is adjusted so that the best possible score gets a 15-0 result. The drone Mirai knows the future and always selects the best rikishi in each group. This shows us what the best possible score would be at each stage of the game. The drone Genzai picks the most popular rikishi from each group. This drone has tended to score well. The drone Mukashi picks the rikishi in each group who had the best record last basho. This drone isn't expected to score well but sometimes surprises us.Send your entries to me at matsuorussellj@gmail.com before any of your selections enter the dohyo for their match (and preferably a few hours before that).

    Sandanme Game Aki 2018

Here (in the posts above) are the final standings for the Aki 2018 Sandanme Game contest! Congratulations to Torafujii for his first ever win in this game! Tenshinhan won last time, and shares the jun-yusho this basho. Congratulations! Wolfgangho had a successful return, finishing with a share of the jun-yusho. His best scoring rikishi balanced his deficiency in kachikoshi rikishi and Tenshinhan's very slight edge in win/loss ratio! Congratulations! Thanks to everyone for playing. See you in November!
  5. This is the thread for the Pick The Yusho Winners (PTYW) game for Aki 2018. Please note the change in email address at the end of this post. I can still receive your messages at my shaw address but I'm transitioning to the gmail one.Until further notice, the game will run just as it has the last several times. I will compile the results and post them as best as I can on this thread. This is a pre-basho game where each player selects a rikishi from each of 8 sections of the banzuke. The player earns points for each win, each kachikoshi, and each yusho earned by their team of 8 rikishi. The sections of the banzuke are these:Sanyaku (Y through K)MaegashiraJuryoUpper Makushita (Ms1-15 ) (not including any tsukedashi of any rank)Lower Makushita (Ms16-60 plus tsukedashi if any - including Ms 10 or 15)Sandanme (plus tsukedashi if any)JonidanJonokuchiThat's it! Simple to understand, difficult to master. The hallmarks of any engaging game. Please send your 8 selections to me before the beginning of action on Shonichi.Itachi: matsuorussellj@gmail.com or by pm here at the forumAs a reminder, I am only a temporary caretaker of this game until Oshirokita can address the reconstruction of his system. All banzuke, website, and records updates will be on hold until then but the game itself and results postings will continue here on this thread.Good luck with your picks.

Pick The Yusho Winners Aki 2018

Strange, I couldn't paste the summarized standings into this message so I added it to the detailed one above. Anyway, here (in the post above) are the final results for the Aki 2018 PTYW contest. The drone of most popular choices by the human players has moved ahead of Flohru to claim the yusho. Flohru wins the jun-yusho. Congratulations! Thanks to everyone for playing.

    Sandanme Game Aki 2018

The standings for Day 14 are up. It looks like a tight race among the top three, Torafujii, Tenshinhan, and Wolfgangho. Tenshinhan has one more bout remaining than the other two. Good luck on the final day!

Pick The Yusho Winners Aki 2018

With just one day left, Flohru is tied with the drone Genzai for the lead! Flohru has one lower division match left with Sokokurai to gain a win over the team of most popular picks. The only other relevant difference is the Juryo selection. Genzai has Hakuyozan while Flohru chose Yago. Good luck on the final day!

One player chose a kyujo rikishi and received Mukashi's pick as replacement. I hope I can avoid running out of attachment space by overwriting these tables. Good luck on Day 6!

    Sandanme Game Aki 2018

Thank you for your entries! There are just 11 players this basho, including the 3 drones but that's enough to keep the game going! I may attempt to post a table of standings later but it will be more interesting after Day 2 when all the rikishi have had a bout.

Pick The Yusho Winners Aki 2018

Thanks for your entries! There are just 11 players this time, including the 2 drones (°o°), but the game lives on. I've finished entering all your picks into the spreadsheet. I may attempt to post the Day 1 standings later but it will be more interesting after every rikishi has had their bout following Day 2.

This is to bump the topic. There is still time to enter! Also, it seems I have more space for attachments so I should be able to post results properly again! If not, I have begun to construct a website but it will be much easier to just post results here.

    Sandanme Game Nagoya 2018

Still no support from sumoforum admin unfortunately so I cannot post any tables of results. My attachments limit has been reached and I cannot clear it. For now, I will just announce the winner of the game for this tournament. Tenshinhan has won with a score of 12.82. His team had 74 wins and 31 losses for a win/loss per 15 rate of 10.57, leading all players. His team had 11 kk and 11 group leaders. His best scoring rikishi had the maximum 7 wins so his yusho points were a perfect 15/15. Kuroimori took the jun-yusho with a score of 12.47, barely ahead of Achiyama's 12.24 Kuroimori's team went 73-32 with 12 kk, 8 group leaders, and a 7 win best scoring rikishi. Achiyama's team was 70-35 with 12 kk, 9 group leaders, and a 7 bout winner. Thanks for your patience. I hope I can find a way to present results tables again for next basho! Itachi

Pick The Yusho Winners Nagoya 2018

Still no support from sumoforum admin unfortunately so I cannot post any tables of results. The winner of the game for this tournament was Tenshinshan! Tenshinhan won with a score of 68. His rikishi has 57 wins and 12 losses. 7 of them were kachikoshi and 2 of them were yusho winners. Torafujii and the drone Genzai share the jun-yusho with 67 points. They had 56-13 win loss records from their team and the same 7 kk and 2 yusho winners. I hope I can get some help to enable me to post tables of results again for next basho. It was very convenient to be able to cut and paste from my excel sheet directly but my attachments limit was exceeded and I cannot clear it. I will produce Sandanme results and make a yusho announcement there soon. Thanks for your patience! Itachi
