It seems that the sewanin and wakaimonogashira's heya affiliations after their retirement from dohyo are/were supposed to be shown in their profiles. But most of them are missing heya transfers (if they had any). I used the DB, HeyaA-Z and the Japanese Wikipedia pages for sewanin and wakaimonogashira to examine each members, then I compiled this list which distinguishes the ones who have the correct heya information and the ones who don't in the DB, with the missing heya in red: Sewanin: Correct: Mitsuwaka, Kenryu, Fusanobori Missing: Mutsuhokkai: Ajigawa - Isegahama Aranonami: Musashigawa - Fujishima - Ikazuchi Ranbo: Futagoyama - Takanohana - Chiganoura - Tokiwayama Tochinoyama: Kasugano - Chiganoura - Tokiwayama Nishikikaze: Oguruma - Oshiogawa Byakuhoyama: Kasugayama - Ajigawa - Kasugayama - Oitekaze - Nakagawa - Miyagino Saisu: Isegahama - Kiriyama - Asahiyama - Isegahama Yuho: Taiho - Otake Wakaimonogashira: Correct: Fukunosato, Isenishiki Missing: Torafusuyama: Mihogaseki - Kasugano Hananokuni: Hanakago - Hanaregoma - Shibatayama Tsurumiyama: Izutsu - Michinoku Shiraiwa: Isegahama - Kiriyama - Asahiyama - Asakayama

Kotakiyama's given name is missing a kanji. The NSK site has it. Also, Umetsu's shikona given name on the Japanese page should be Shunnosuke and not Sunnosuke. Here, his name is on the bottom of the New Recruits list of Hatsu 2013: I'll bump a previous post I made about typos in the DB FWIW in case you missed it. Since most of them are old and lower ranked rikishi I doubt there are any sources with the correct shikonas. I guess they appeared due to either erroneous input or sources with typos

    Banzuke day pics Kyushu 2023

Futagoyama beya's (food) YT channel posted footage from the press conference of Roga's makuuchi promotion, with subtitles (they seem pretty good; whoever manages the channel does splendid job with its contents). The video starts off with preparing of handouts for koenkai members and curry rice chanko:

    Tsuruonishiki

To put my 2 cents regarding Tsuruokanishiki's heya, if you take a look at the kanji of Sakaigawa and Kagamiyama 境川, 鏡山 - they look identical; the 1st kanji have the same radical 竟 and the 2nd kanji look like they could be mixed up somehow (the DB once had the shikona 木村川 scribed as Kimurayama). So, I think it's probably Kagamiyama after all and Doitsuyama misread the source material, assuming it was in Japanese. If it's true, his heya should be Isenoumi -> Kagamiyama. Edit: Bump? @Doitsuyama

    Aki 2023 Retirements

He retired back in May after reaching the mandatory retirement age. And while I'm at it, I'll add a brief overview of his career: At 19, he started out in Nishonoseki Beya, July of 1977. He was promoted to tier 2 tokoyama in 1998 and to tier 1 in 2008 at the age of 49. After his heya closed in 2013, he moved to Matsugane Beya. Later the heya was renamed to Nishonoseki which in a sense "reunited" Tokohira with his old heya. At the end of 2021, when the heya got a new shisho and again a new name (Hanaregoma), he was the only personnel to move to a different heya, which was Kataonami, his final destination. Unfortunately, he was never promoted to the special tier in his later career.

Hokutohomare's loss by hatakikomi in one basho is incorrectly marked as a rest day in his record (but the hoshitori seems right): http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi_basho.aspx?r=11977&b=201609

    New recruits Aki 2023

Wiktionary only comes up with 阿武船. I think you didn't notice its different 3rd kanji. Interesting that the new shikona follows the stroke order of 8-8-9 just like Onosho's. I wonder if they intended that. Instead they could've chosen the similar meaning and more common 勝 or 克 (they seem to occur in many shikonas; but no one's ever used 剋 before) Edit: And his shikona given name 一弘 (Kazuhiro) contains a part of his high school coach's name 岸田光弘 Kishida Mitsuhiro. Choijil probably wanted to pay homage to him. Roga did the same later in his career, changing it altogether to his coach's given name. So far he's never had a makekoshi since the name change, just to mention

It's worth noting that the "kaiyu" part of it is a direct (?) translation of his given name Dalaibaatar, "ocean, hero".

    Trivia bits

Like the pattern 5-7-5 of haikus, a shikona consisting of 3 kanji with stroke counts of 5-7-5 is what I focused on this time. I was able to find only one such shikona in the DB. It is 立村本 (Tatsumuramoto), which was just composed of his real name and heya's prefix. He did receive a proper shikona later on but was for only one basho. For fun, I made up a few shikona with this pattern using 5 stroke and 7 stroke kanji. Keep in mind, my Japanese and kanji knowledge are quite poor: 玉秀仙 Tamashūzen (jewel/Kataonami prefix, excellent, sage) 北見石 Kitamiishi (Kitami city, stone) 巨男広 Ōnankō (gigantic, man, wide) 白花弘 Shirohanahiro (white, flower, vast) - Like a haiku about nature
