I came across some typos in the shikona on the Japanese side: 西ノ梅 Nishinoume's kana reading shows up as Nishinoumi. 名寄石 Nayoroishi appears as Nayoroiashi. 井上川 Inouegawa appears as Inouegaa. And 堀内川 Horiuchigawa appears as Horiutsugawa. Maybe the source material had the typo and you didn't notice. Either way, I think they are indeed typos. And I found 2 confusing maezumo shikonas. First, Kyokugozan's 木村川 seems to be Kimuragawa in kanji form but it shows up as Kimurayama. Second, Yuminosato's 隆奥村 should read Takaokumura but instead it's Okumurayama.

GTB invite- Aki 2023 - 202 entries - RESULTS!!

Glad it helped. It was just changing a value in the code that made it look better on mobile. I regret not having done this a long time ago... -
Taking this into account, I compiled all the shikona with the length of 7. There are 52 as of today. Maybe they should take the cake for "the longest shikona": Agazumazakura Andōzakura Arashitenyū Asahibenten Azumaōshū Azumatenshō Daionizakura Daitominosato Dōnannohana Hattorizakura Hidehikonoshima Hokkainishiki/II Hokuyōzakura Kakuryūasahi Kongōzakura Kōtetsunishiki Kotohigashiyama Kotokashiwadani Kotokirigakubo Kotoōnojō Kototakenoue Kyūshūnishiki Matsuminenoyama Migikataagari Miyakomotoharu Miyakotenzan Nanyōnishiki Nanyōzakura Ōhayashiyama Ōkawagatake Ōkuniasahi Ōsunaarashi Ōtorigatake/II Oyaguranishiki Ōyamatoumi Ōyanagihara Ryūjinsakari Senshūmisaki Shinjōnishiki Shinshūnishiki Shiraishizakura Shōnannoumi Shōnanzakura Takachihonomine Tōshōnishiki Tsuruokanishiki Wakaōnehara Wakatoōhashi Watanabenishiki Watanabezakura Yamamotozakura Yatsushironishiki Hokkainishiki and Ōtorigatake each were used by 2 different rikishi, and the previous shikona of stablemates Agazumazakura and Shōnanzakura are also listed (Shiraishizakura and Hattorizakura). From the list above, 36 of them are the last/current shikona of rikishi, including 1 each of Hokkainishiki and Ōtorigatake. Another thing. The matchup with the longest shikona length combined was Daiechizenō vs Matsuminenoyama, with the length of 15 in Japanese. On the other hand, in Rōmaji, the longest is 28, provided this post still holds up 12 vs 14? Nowhere near. As far as bouts covered by the DB go, the maximum appears to be 28 in 13 vs 15 and 14 vs 14 matchups. Edit: There's a longer matchup with 29 letters, brought up thanks to Yubinhaad's notice: Yatsushironishiki vs Kuriharayama

New additions to the helper: - The "Auto-arrange to current ranks" button. This will do what it says; arrange the sekitori to the new banzuke with their positions in the current banzuke. - The "Shift" mode has become more comprehensive. Rikishi can shift up or down depending on when you put the thing down. Using this on the auto-arranged rikishi could be a fun way to make the banzuke. - Added tooltips on the rikishi being dragged to show their rank, record, and rank change. There's also a tooltip in shift mode. You can turn off the tooltips. - For mobile users, the banzuke are zoomed out for better accessibility. This may need more work, so let me know if you have any feedback. Next basho I'll add a dark mode option. -
Good news is that he won't be kyujo this basho. A great pick ;) Technically, I wasn't wrong. He was active this basho, but not on the dohyo (note to @Doitsuyama: his record should be 0-0 in the DB). It was a game tactic that I didn't tell this to Hoshotakamoto, nothing personal whatsoever

I don't care what kanji they are, but shou is shou!

2023 Nagoya Banzuke Trivias It's the first time since 2016.7 that there are no university rikishi (graduated or not) in sanyaku. In makuuchi, there are a record 12 rikishi whose shikona contain "shō/shou". Aki 2000 was the last time when no makuuchi rikishi had this in their shikona.

Updated pick: Jk7w Shimabukuro. I had chose him in 2 other waves last basho, but he went 3-4. I felt he fell a bit short. This basho though, he might face weaker opponents mostly.

Updated pick: Jd103w Tamanotora

I've seen Oshima and Miyagino degeiko posts on Instagram recently. That maybe explains Dalai's appearance in the Miyagino video.

Thank you. I definitely wasn't aware of these. Daiechizen'ō, what a shikona.

What is the longest shikona? The longest in rōmaji is Yatsushironishiki, with 17 letters. The longest in kana is Kyūshūnishiki, which consists of 9 characters (きゅうしゅうにしき). There's no other with 9 or more in the DB, except Shōkumonryū (しょうくもんりゅう) whose reading is not confirmed. Hōshōryū and Sh ōnannoumi are the longest in makuuchi right now, with 8 kana characters. And lastly, the longest ones in kanji have 5 kanji maximum to date. Those that don't have a kana in them (like 千代の富士) are: 出羽乃富士 Dewanofuji, 伊那乃富士 Inanofuji, 千代九十九 Chiyotsukumo, 土佐乃富士 Tosanofuji and 琴桐ヶ久保 Kotokirigakubo. (And the shortest shikona in all the aspects above is U)

GTB INVITE- July 2023- 175 entries, new record and RESULTS!!!
Chiyotasuke replied to Kintamayama's topic in Sumo Games
It feels harder than guessing the banzuke itself I'm definitely gonna make both the features now. Get them nice and working and then we'll see if I'll implement them to the helper before the basho ends. And you mention the helper's accessibility on mobile phones, which I am aware of. I'll work on that. It's just very inconsiderate of me to not have tackled this long ago. Nice. If you want to play around and add custom functions, check out the doc page of RedipsDrag library. This library is the backbone of the helper https://www.redips.net/javascript/redips-drag-documentation/ -

Well, I've decided not to implement the "auto-arranger/sorter" feature into the helper, largely due to the players' concerns. Still, I think it would be handy to have "computed rank" column in the tables. And regarding automation, instead of calculated ranks, simply auto-arranging the rikishi into their current position might be good. From that, it becomes easier to manually drag them to their "computed ranks". Does that sound good? -

Thank you guys for expressing your opinions and insights. I'll just have the auto-arrange feature for the next GTB at least. Once the results are out, analyze the scores and picks of players (particularly new players). I'm not sure if it would determine anything but it's the best idea I have. -
GTB INVITE- July 2023- 175 entries, new record and RESULTS!!!
Chiyotasuke replied to Kintamayama's topic in Sumo Games
It's a good idea, but for the helper, I think it's best to make the calculations simple; calculate only from the result of the current basho. Based on people's inputs, I've come to this: Don't change the ozeki and yokozuna ranks at all Using straight math, apply K = M[-1] and S = M[-3] to the S, K and M rikishi. If a rikishi's next rank calculates to M0 or M[-2] then "round" it to M1 or K, respectively (rough estimates I got from DB queries). The highest rank they can compute to is S. The only exception to this rule is a M1 with 8-7 record, who will be promoted to K Stack the computed K and S rikishi on a single slot. It's up to the player to arrange and order them Re: juryo promotions... I might need other's insights, or read on my own, about things like promotion queue, range and what the math might be Let me know what you guys think -

Thanks for using my helper in your videos. It seems like this arrangement of rikishi "by the math" is very useful. For the next GTB, I think I'll add a function that automatically does this so that you won't have arrange them by hand. But I'm wondering how this method apply to the movement between sanyaku and maegashira ranks? Or it doesn't?
