    Dallas Sumo Club - Keiko Highlights (January 16, 2022) After a few weeks of much needed rest, Dallas Sumo Club resumes training and are joined by Chris and Ivan from Texas Monthly for a team photoshoot that will incorporated into an upcoming article! After some shiko and suriashi to knock the rust off the ole dohyō, the boys were itching to get back to work with Oyakata (Corey Morrison), grabbing 2022 and everyone else by the throat. Albert Martinez shows off his rapidly improving skills with balance and leverage to topple opponents of all sizes! Akakokkaku (Dakota Eggert) continues his journey to find his brand of sumo. He once again brings the biggest x-factor you can have in the sport; FIGHTING SPIRIT! Hananooni (Jonathan Flowers) incorporates his martial arts nomad-style into every fight, taking bits and pieces of judo and jiu-jitsu to keep his opponents on their toes! Kurowashi (Matt Jim) finds the inner strength and power to gambarize and push the limits of his body, as he builds up his giant frame brick-by-brick! Kashōkuma (Drew Bramlett) comes closer to finding the perfect balance of power and agility in his quest to make an impact in 2022! Sean Byrd uses his height, reach and martial arts instincts to bulldoze through his opponents leaving a path of destruction in his wake… before letting his little ones show the club how its REALLY done!

    Dallas Sumo Club - Keiko-Mas Highlights (December 19, 2021) Dallas-beya celebrates Christmas a little early! Jared (Osuushigishi) Tadlock lends his chest and smashes with his head as if it had horns. Albert Martinez stays low and technical, while thinking on his feet. Matt (Kurowashi) Jim uses raw power and ups his defense. Stephen Pretto's increased balance keeps him circling the dohyō and in the game. (Oyakata) Corey Morrison works on correcting some mistakes from the North American Sumo Championships. Khalil (Miseba) Collins shows up for the team and lends support while his injuries heal.

    Dallas Sumo Club - Keiko Highlights (December 05, 2021) Colton Runyan, Phd candidate at the University of Cambridge, amazumo sumotori and most importantly... fellow Texan, joins us for our last keiko before the North American Sumo Championships in Las Vegas, NV! He shared with us much sumo knowledge gained from his time training in Japan. This was a helluva time for us and quite the exciting day, lots of a great matches to watch and all of our members are definitely making strides finding their particular brand of sumo.

Nemo Davies' quick reaction time and good tachiai keep him a formidable foe and (Oyakata) Corey Morrison tries to improve his oshi-zumō and finds some success with it.

Drew Bramlett shows his growing ring sense and improving yotsu-zumō. Nemo Davies changes up his oshi-zumō style and find some success on the belt. Dakota Eggert proves his fight spirit is larger than his body and never backs down. Khalil Collins goes undefeated and helps push our smaller sumotori to their limits. Matt (Kurowashi) Jim gives all he can on an injured calf until he can bare no more. Jared (Osuushigishi) Tadlock goes on a massive winning streak and helps the club work on their techniques and kimarite. (Oyakata) Corey Morrison gets strict about form and pushes through a knee injury… probably pushing too far.

    Dallas Sumo Club - Mighty Eagle Sumo Team Tournament Highlights (October 16, 2021) American rikishi descended from across the Untied States to take part in Mighty Eagle Sumo's first ever Team Tournament in San Antonio, TX! In the first part of this video we shot, you'll see the "team tournament" segment, the second part covers the "openweight" portion of the tournament as well as some bonus footage and an interview with the openweight gold medalist and a few shout-outs from the silver and bronze medalists, plus a slew of random goings-on. Dakota Eggert really broke through his self-imposed wall today embraced tenacity, resulting in some dominate wins and (Oyakata) Corey Morrison worked on his tsuppari attacks and tawara defense. We were visited and observed by some members from Dallas Kiyari Daiko (taiko drum group) and life-long ōzumō fan, Keiko Suzuki, got to live her dream of being a gyōji for the day!

    Dallas Sumo Club - Yamageiko Highlights (October 6, 2021) We were joined this morning by local publication the "Oak Cliff Advocate"; thank you to journalist Rachel Stone & photographer Jessica Turner for covering our club and the rise of sumo in Dallas, TX! Sean Byrd yet again pulled some amazing throwing kimarite, but at times the slippery morning dew became his biggest enemy. Drew Bramlett worked on tuning his tsuppari and ring-sense. Khalil Collins went mawashi-less today and stuck to an oshi-zumo style. Jared (Osuushigishi) Tadlock returns with a vigor for combat after a week off, still training hard at home. (Oyakata) Corey Morrison walked the tawara like a bridge at first, but was overcome in the center of the dohyō.
