His tsuppari is less comical
-
And that 4 is enough ... no guarantees.
-
I love the guy but he's been sounding completely delusional.
-
So no surprise retirements or other curveballs.
-
As others have noted, the closest parallel is probably the current yokozuna promotion standard—consecutive yusho or 26 wins.
-
This makes me wonder what happens if you expand it to exceeding or equalling. This would be the first where 2 exceeded and 2 more equalled, at least?
-
Hopefully he uses the time wisely.
-
And this might reflect the higher caliber of guys currently in that category...
-
Do they usually do the math? It's a reasonable assumption if one isn't paying close attention.
-
No one's ever had consecutive yusho without being ranked ozeki at least for the second basho, period. Futabayama and Terunofuji are the only ones to win consecutive yusho at S/O.
-
If only he had any heya-mates in Makuuchi...
-
I have to say he's really grown on me, after starting firmly at the top of my list of least favorite rikishi.
-
Yeah, whichever of these 11 misses out will be very unlucky. Personally, after today, I hope it's Akua. Should be either him or Oshoumi, based on past results. I'll be sad if they snub Satorufuji instead.
-
According to this query, Chiyotenzan also had 3, and upping it to 4 didn't return any results.
-
Graduating: Kayo, Nabatame, Fujiseiun. Just missing: Kiryuko (unless there's a retirement announcement in the next day or two).
-
If WTK is that high and Asanoyama is that low, I'll eat my hat, but otherwise it's very similar to my first draft.
-
My first drafted landed Asanoyama all the way down at M13, but that's way too low, isn't it?
-
nope, and please don't start one
-
What are they going to do about M2? The first KK after the two komusubi-apparent and Meisei is 8-7 M7 Mitakeumi!
-
Yup, that dawned on me after I clicked submit
-
Would be awesome, but I don't think they'll do it, given their general treatment of full absences plus the fact that they're two wins apart by the numbers (3.5 ranks).
-
4th, no? 11 wins at M5 is ahead of 9 wins at M2 I think.
-
What a total $%^& ... and of course he had to go for the kakenage
-
He basically was handed 3 losses he wouldn't have had if he wasn't in the race ... not saying he would have necessarily won all those 3 bouts against more typical opposition, but an M10 who gets 10 wins while facing 3 of the best-performing san'yaku seems prize-worthy.

I'm in, pretty much the only game with a time commitment I can afford these days
