So Moti-san, are you saying that "bearly" is the new "properly".
-
I hope so also, but in true NHK fashion they will probably bring back Clyde Newton....
-
At the shikiri-sen, T. Hamster Rex proved he could physically get both hands down (I didn't think he was capable). After Takakeisho's win the camera cut to the shitaku-beya showing Ichinojo with a (small) smile, I'd never seen him smile before. Congrats Ichi!

I completely agree, but I wish the MIB would stick with a decision (if there even was one). It was my belief that before the previous basho it was stated that being out of a basho due to covid would not result in a demotion on the next banzuke.
-
Oh I completely agree, but why would you willingly walk into what Ura just walked into?
-
I think the "consideration" is because this never happened before and the MIB are fairly unpredictable when making a banzuke. I don't think he should be demoted, but ichinojo dropped a rank in the last banzuke because of covid (made no sense to me or my GTB).
-
Takakeisho tries to be Enho (yeah, no way he can get low like Enho) and then Ura tries to be Ichinojo (well the double inside worked for Ichi on Day 5).
-
What the hell did Takakeishi just do there? Was he channeling Enho?
-
Shodai! I think Ichi gave him a little too much respect.
-
I think that Mitakeumi being a relatively new ozeki might work in his favor (I agree on his recent performances not being ozeki worthy). If it was Shodai there would be no doubt about who the next "new" sekiwake would be (and I like Shodai, at least I did when he fought like an ozeki).
-
Demoting Mitakeumi now would be pretty harsh.
-
I'll start the banzuke conspiracy theories right now (I know, I know wrong thread, but I didn't see a "completely ridiculous predictions" for Aki or a Natsu promotion/demotion thread yet). We'll have a Yokozuna/Ozeki, one Ozeki (West) and four Sekiwake (Mitakeumi, Shodai) + the normal sekiwake. And my next GTB will be it's all time worse (if that's possible).

Moti-san makes one little freudian slip (or did he?) and the sujo come out of the woodwork (sorry guys)
-
yohcun, thanks for the link. 80,000 and Arashio is half the size of Kokonoe.
-
That is true. That's a lot of chanko cooking everyday, I'm curious what a heya that size spends on food a month.
-
Kokonoe certainly is a big heya, I'm glad I'm not paying that grocery bill
-
That makes complete sense Moti-san, unfortunately the MIB frequently have me scratching my (bald) head in wonder
-
He always seemed headstrong and I liked his combativeness. I wonder if this caused him to burn a few bridges over his career. Then again, maybe he got tired of the life and needs a change. I also hope he lands on his feet, whatever he does next.
-
Three? I am curious as to how you picked one over another (I can see four). Surely you could have done it properly and went with six komusubi I went with two but fully expect this to be my worst GTB ever

There's a few members here lamenting the lack of a "dominant" rikishi making the basho dull. I think the reason the basho was dull was because those who were supposed to make it interesting (I'm looking at you no-zekis) did not. I didn't care for the hakuho era because I don't want to see the same person expected to win every time out (and doing so). I found it boring (despite his skills) to watch him playing with his food every match (not his fault no one was his equal until his decline). I don't like it in Moto GP or F1 either, and prefer to be surprised as to who wins. I think if the current "crop" of ozekis fought to their expected levels with the current joi, the bashos would be fairly exciting. 2011/2012 exciting, maybe not but at least fun.
-
Not looking like he's back.
-
They didn't show the replay of the original camera view, but it sure looked like he saved him live.
-
Takakeisho loses an oshi bout and Ozeki goji bowling is back

He started the recovery process slowly but Shirley, and now he seems to have overcome the injuries and has been piling up those training sessions. Don't call me Shirley! (On most other forums this would cause a change of username or shikona)
