Wow, so Sagatsukasa beat Tomokaze today.

If I was Hakuho, I wouldn't even be mad. I'd just feel like "damn, I still go it!" to make someone completely shut down mentally like that from presence alone. Odd as it may be, that was the first time in a while where I really felt like that dominant era Hakuho was still around.

I like Kimura Kankuro (Yamahibiki) in makushita. He's got such a a great scream. Really puts his diaphragm into it.

I was admiring how smooth Konosuke was at getting the sagari out of the way. Shame he kinda rendered it moot by getting the decision wrong. Night establishments.

Asahisho once gave Takagenji an extra thrust to the face because he didn't like his manners.

Damn, Takakeisho just... stopped. Even Ichinojo clued in that something bad happened and got gentle with him.

What was encouraging about the whole episode is that it looked like Enho wanted to carry on, but the shimpan overruled him. Enho looked real unhappy that he was being denied. Shimpan were proven right when he stumbled just mounting the dohyo again, though.

I swear Shonan does even worse than usual in matches where you think he may have a chance, though.

I'll always remember Haru 2018. Ikioi was clearly very injured. Every day, after his bout, he'd be walking back up the hanamichi so gingerly it was a wonder he was doing sumo at all. He got 11 wins. And one of the losses was a hairpull, so he could've easily had 12. The Osaka crowd was loving it. It's like their noise was feeding him energy or something. It was amazing.

Imagine if Kagamio enters one match to prevent going banzuke-gai, and they pit him against you-know-who.

There's also Touma and Ishii still using their family names.

Will become Kiriyama-oyakata. I bet they can't wait to get this guy in the commentary box.

I've never really been a fan of the guy, ever since this (video linked, not embedded, because it contains an injury so gruesome the shinpan visibly recoil). It's not the injury itself, that's part of sumo, but the fact he doesn't even give Asatenmai a second glance afterwards. That said, I do kinda wonder where it went wrong with Takaryu after such a quick ascension. If he plummeted due to injury, I could understand, but it seems like he just trickled further and further down.

I swear Terunofuji always ends up standing next to Teruya in the big moments. It's uncanny.
