Probably Kirishima for Ozeki

Four Kokonoe rikishi discharged, ex-Chiyotaikai still hospitalized.

As far as I know, this definition actually applies to mushōbu. Azukari would apply in today's bout, as it would have been a match that was too close to decide after monoii.
-
Tomena are the names that are not reused, not the shikona of yokozuna, although the former is mostly a subset of the latter.

Looks to me that 起死 and 回生 are written by two different people. I'd give 回生 a 10; it might have been written by Kandayu. -
According to Shibatayama, basho goes on as planned. With audience and no postponement.

Sakahoko died due to pancreatic cancer, and Kakureizan died to heart failure. -
Takatoriki claimed that Ishiura Tokiyoshi (father of the rikishi Ishiura, principal and sumo coach at Tottori Johoku High School) quoted him 100 million yen to recruit Yamaguchi (later Daikiho) out of high school. He also implied that Chairman Tanaka of Nihon University (Nichidai) worked his way up from sumo coach through similar schemes, and specifically Yamaguchi joining Miyagino after attending Nichidai (and Tottori Johoku) involved large sums of money changing hands.

All the wrestlers and the oyakata at Arashio stable are confirmed positive.

Naruto, according to Nikkan Sports today.

I would say it’s “leave an opening (for your opponent)”

Only Akebono won his last bout on the dohyo.

Looking at yokozuna who retired after 1990 (the first of which is Chiyonofuji), only Hokutoumi and Akebono did not retire during the basho, in addition to Asashoryu and Harumafuji, both of whom retired due to circumstances outside the ring.

Zubuneri (head pivot throw, originally zubineri) is so named because the wrestler uses his own head (zu) as the pivot to twist (hineru) his opponent down. The wrestler places his head against his opponent's chest, and pulls on his opponent's arm.

The five most recent triple 7-0s from jonokuchi placed the rikishi between Ms13 and Ms15. One more 7-0 would be shin-juryo at the bottom of the division. From the bottom of juryo a zensho would be bottom of makuuchi (although this apparently never happened yet). One more would be high-maegashira/sanyaku, then Ozeki in 2 bashos, and Yokozuna in 2 more zenshos. In total that would be 11 bashos from jonokuchi to yokozuna. The biggest problem here is of course that there are far less zensho rikishi than there are barely-kachikoshi. The lack of samples leads to uncertainties, mainly whether three 15-0s in a row from the bottom of makuuchi would earn an ozeki promotion (they probably should) and whether one more zensho from there would earn a yokozuna promotion. If the answer is yes to both then the total would only be 9 bashos. Basho Slow estimate Fast Estimate 1 Jk 2 Jn 3 Sd 4 Ms15 5 J14 6 M16 7 M1 M1 8 S S 9 S O 10 O Y 11 O 12 Y

Note also that 常陸山 Hitachiyama and 常盤山 Tokiwayama differ only by the middle kanji. -
It reads like the rabbit died when Terasawa was 7. That bunny has been in a mawashi longer than it was alive.

Kenseki would mean a verbal warning.

The new article states that the non-sekitori is in a different stable. This means it can't be Irodori.
-
The Nikkan Sports article states the rikishi who accompanied Abi was a former sekitori. His oyakata has submitted an informal resignation (shintai-ukagai) for him; the rijikai will decide whether to recommend intai.
-
To clarify, one of the younger oyakata said Hakuho was angry, and the kachiage was a suggestion by the writer, not Hakuho.

These two are decidedly wrong though, it's a short o for Terao. -
I found this banzuke, which I largely agree with. http://sirosita.web.fc2.com/1821-06.html
