I have no knowledge of Japanese vocabulary, does Gumi & Ichimon means the same (clan, group) or is there some sort of distinction between their use?

I thought I was the only one! I thought Nagoya was tough but Aki was ruthless! I got my kk on day 15; in my personal case, calling Juryo bouts seems to be a problem of late, the bulk of my loses coming from that division. It’s too unestable and it’s tricky to figure out a pattern even in on obvious cases.

What about Ikioi? He has two consecutive kachi-koshi fighting basically with one leg! 11-4 as Maegashira 14 on March and 8-7 as Maegashira 5 on May (he could barely walk after day 6).
  10. Hi, everybody. I’m a full-contact sport enthusiast (I earned black belt in taekwondo, did some amateur boxing & MMA) who discovered professional sumo a year ago by mere accident- I came across a FB video showing Takanoyama’s higlights- and now I’m a proud sumo junkie thanks to Kintamaya’s extensive sumo highlights library & Dosukoi, the french sumo channel. I’m a Dominican raised in NYC living in the Dominican Republic located in the middle of Caribbean Sea for the last 4 years. I’m probably the only sumo fan in my country (it’s kinda sad to be a fan by myself every basho) but I’m hopping to change that somehow. I’ve noticed how scarce english sumo related news are; luckily there’s this forum and all the sumo channels in YouTube like Kintamayama’s, Jason All-Sumo and the others. But there’s virtually nothing on Oozumo in Spanish nor any active following of it on Latin America’s social media at this time or at least I’m not able to find any. And that leads to my main purpose joining this forum; I want to learn and debate more about professional sumo and eventually create an Spanish site for Spanish speakers. Thanks in advance. Can’t wait for 2018 Haru Basho, hakkeyoi!!!!!
  11. This has probably been answered a thousand times but I’m unable to find YouTube channel with Juryo coverage. Can somebody share some links or tag me on a post with them? Thanks in advance.

    Basho Talk Haru 2018 (SPOILERS)

Kakuryu won by using that dreaded push down of his, a move that cost him 3 of his loses last basho; Endo got his kimboshi last basho against him anticipating this move; this time Kakuryu used twice consecutively and it worked but I would be really careful about keep using it so often during this basho if I was him.

How sick is Terunofuji this basho? I knew about the diabetes last basho, is that still the issue?

Kakuryu’s right hand grip looked really strong and pain-free today. Chiyotairyu never knew what hit him.

Preparations of the Y/O Haru 2018

According to Tochinoshin injured his left thigh/groin yesterday and he is now doubtful to participate in the Osaka tournament. The article reads “Apparently, he hurt that thigh some time during the Hatsu basho and was nursing that injury since. During practice he suddenly let out a yelp and limped out of the dohyo, having aggravated that injury.” It also mentions he was taken to Tokyo io for a medical checkup. An update was added today March 7: “his stablemaster declared that he is fine and ready for the basho. He is back in Osaka, but has not done keiko today – March 7th” Can someone confirm this? Link:
