    Basho Talk Natsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

Hard to imagine he wins the tournament but doesn't get promoted. Anyway, I think if he had the chance he would have swapped a win or two from March for his defeats in May, and that way he would still be promoted, having won two Yushos in 3 tournaments which is something very very few can achieve from Sekiwake or lower (if indeed it has ever happened).

    Basho Talk Natsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

Easy answer: Yusho as it would have autamatically meant Ozeki promotion :)

    Basho Talk Natsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

Nothing wrong at my end to solve, each day my software stays "green", almost never drops a single frame and as I keep the site open to monitor things it doesn't freeze either. I guess I have a stable connection and obviously I am close to the server twitch is automatically using when I stream. I can imagine using any European VPN would solve the problem for overseas viewers assuming their ISP provides a decent and stable connection in the first place.

    Basho Talk Natsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

Your suggestion is a possibility although I think twitch is pretty stable and it's not the first time it's happened with Tochinoshin's bouts. I've seen it a few times this Basho but this was just too big a difference in numbers...

    Basho Talk Natsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

A pretty weird thing happened on my channel today. Well over 450 viewers during Tochi vs Kak and ONLY around 400 for Hak vs Ichi. I mean sure, I understand Tochi's very popular and all but still. Who switches off a stream before the last - Yokozuna - bout of the day? I suspect a bunch of Georgians who know next to nothing and give zero f*ck about Sumo and are only interested in their national hero. Funny and sad at the same time.

    Live Streaming - Natsu 18

No Sumo on BS1 this weekend either so only NHK G. At the minute their EPG says it starts at 3:30PM JST on Saturday and only at 4PM JST on Sunday (when everything is half an hour early because of all the ceremonies and possible play-offs) although after what happened today, I say let's wait and see.

TV Japan no longer on Dish Network

Yes, NHK World shows 23 minute highlights each day, about 7 and a half hours after the live event finishes, it's an FTA channel and available on many satellites. The good news is they showed the last 50 minutes live on day 1 of the Haru Basho, maybe they'll cover more as time goes by.

TV Japan no longer on Dish Network

What do you mean by "normal broadcast antenna"? Is it terrestrial or satellite service? And is it NHK G?

    Should-have-been Y/O

Takanonami's name is in bold, although he never advanced to Yokozuna.

    Should-have-been Y/O

Takanohana wouldn't have been a problem, he already faded at the time Kaio was at his best. First the huge Hawaiians and later on the deadly Mongolians stood in his way.

    Live Streaming - Haru 18

For whatever reason (if any) BS1 decided to completely ignore sumo again so I'll start at 3:05PM JST with NHK G.

    Live Streaming - Haru 18

Yes. It was a general problem on twitch for a few minutes, after that, I managed to carry on. Now I'll delete the incomplete pieces and try to upload the whole thing in full.

Unfortunately I don't have access to BS 102. :( Not sure about NHK Premium but I've just checked NHK G and NHK BS 1, next week they will cover the action on weekdays from 1PM JST. I hven't checked next weekend though but I'm afraid they will find something more interesting to show again... Anyway, tomorrow (or this afternoon in Asia) NHK G will start at 3:05 PM JST and so will I.

    Abema TV all sumo live

I wouldn't really mind all that if the quality were good enough though.

    Abema TV all sumo live

Today I've tried Abema for the first time because of all the madness on the regular Japanese TV channels that normally broadcast sumo. I've got to say picture quality is a disappointment compared to what I'm used to, the music in the background gets annoying pretty quickly and all those commercials make it even worse. Fingers crossed that NHK G and NHK BS1 pull themselves together.

Not the same quality though and that's not even the point. How is Sumo not on TV?

    Live Streaming - Haru 18

Bad news. If their programme guide is right NHK G will start live sumo at 4:25PM today (not even full Makunouchi) while NHK BS 1 is showing no sumo at all this weekend. I guess it's time for Abema TV. Edit: WTF??? Let's say I do (although I NEVER will) understand that paralympic games, baseball, volleyball, football, ALL sorts of ball games are ahead of Japan's National Sport, but for f*ck's sake, NHK G is showing a f*cking MOVIE. WTF is that all about???

I'll go live on yt in 10 minutes when BS1 starts its coverage. edit: BS1 looks not to keep their promised schedule but will instead show their national paralympic ice hockey team get beaten up by USA. edit2: Wow, that was quick, I got busted by yt in 10 minutes, back to Twitch now !
