Chiyo will win the next Basho and will be the next Yokozuna. Musa will retire in 2003. And then there won't be any new Yokuzuna for a long long long time I guess.

Nice word from Estonia (the language is from the same group of languages as Finnish and Hungarian) is J

Austrian, Zenjimoto? Interesting language. very common in German (or Austrian) are: Schatz (pronounced shats (like "shuts" not "shets")) = Treasure Liebling = Darling, Dear Than there are thousands of others in no paticular order: M

http://dohyo.com/sumomovies/nagoya2003/movies.html There you can find the Juryo-Matches and many Makushita-Bouts since last basho. It is better to watch those then the live-broadcast on the NSK-site, if you use a modem. Better quality and the upload is rather quick.

I only follow the Juryo and lower divisions through the tournaments, that are not broadcast on TV. But I wait for Eurosport's broadcast to watch the Makuuchi. I don't want to see the fights in minor quality on a small monitor. Anyway, I think there could have been a little more about Asashoryu's foul and the reaction of the crowd in the next days of the basho. German comentator Alexander von der Groeben is always much fun to listen to, though he may not know that much about sumo. But he is very good in not revealing too much. The way, sumo is treated by Eurosport, I fear it won't be long, till it finally drops out of the program. They should at least broadcast a replay on the afternoon to reach the kids and other folks who do not have the time, to watch TV at midnight. A major suprise was Toki's more intelligent performance. Kaious win in the final match was a suprise as well.

Without major injuries, Asashoryu will make a 15:0 in Aki 2004.

You become Yokozuna when you win 2 consecutive Tournaments. There is no Fairy that throws a little Stardust and You and makes you a new person, that always gets 12 wins in every Tournament. 10:5 is okay with me. I hope, Kaio will get the Yokozuna-Rank. A japanese Yokozuna would surel be good for Sumo and somehow he deserves it. Even if he won't get to be Yokozuna, his days are counted with his backproblems. I hope he'll make it.

Chiyotaikai, Kaio, Tochiazuma. That will be it, and that will be good. 3 strong Ozeki. No new unworthy Yokozuna, no Ozeki with Problems, to keep his rank (if they don't get hurt). Musoyama: 7-8, Wakanosato: Good, but not quite good enough. Off course it will turn out completely different...

Haru, because it has the best light. The extreme Contrast in Tokyo gets the TV into trouble. Nagoya looks like a factoryhall to me. (To judge from Tele.)

I'm astonished about Asasekiryu's 4 wins against Chiyotaikai, as I think he lacks the necessary pysical strength to get Ozeki or even more.

I guess, that the main reason for the increase in injuries are the modern training methods. That doesn't mean, that I say, the sumotori should do more traditional exercises. The problem is, modern training methods DO improve the fighting abilites of the rikishi very much, but just like in other sports, the muscles are not made to endure such power. I guess it's just one thing we have to live with, that there will be even more injuries in the future. And, yes, I think the increase in weight is aproblem to. Maybe there should be fines for "overweight" (-10% of monthly payment, if you weigh about 150 kg, -20%, if you weigh over 180 kg for example). And of course, overweight is a main reason for many diseases, from which rikishi have to suffer AFTER their career. (Diabetes, Heart-Attacks, Cancer, morbus Alzheimer, liver problems etc. pp.) I guess the kosho-sytem should be changed, to enable rikishi to really cure their injuries. Why are there no yung Hawaiians in Ozuumo. I often asked that question myself, and I realy have no answer. Maybe it's the hard life in the heya, that keeps young Americans from Ozumo, but hell, I really don't know.

:~-( I've tropped from Makushita 28 west to Sandanme 22 east. Aaaarrrgh! I wasn't THAT bad. Congratulations to my brother TAKO, first time in the Super Banzuke at Sandanme 6 east. Damn, now he is ranked higher than me. :-@

I'm afraid, he will make Make Koshi and retire. Yes, he was able to stay in Makuuchi for an astonishing long time, considering, that he never made it into the Sanyaku-Ranks, but since dropping to Juryo he has never reached his old class. (Waving goodbye...)

It's great! Thank you and "Vielen Dank!", Kintamayama.

Hoshitori definetly is the best game for beginners. As I am not able to follow the Sumo-Action every day and so watch the Makkuchi via Eurosport and the Juryo (if I have the time) via the livestream on the NSK-Site, I play Hoshitori, UDH, the Juryo Game and Sekitori Oracle. The last both obviously not the games to start with, but a good way to get involved into Juryo as well. GTB is another great game to play, as it is completely different from other games and is to be played at another time.

Konishiki. He made it i.e. on the cover of Aerosmith's best of "Big Ones". (Again with Mainoumi) I guess without his impressive body, Eurosport may never have startet broadcasting sumo. I admit, that I certainly was fascinated by this freakshow-effect.
-
Who knows? If he takes his time to restore his health and maybe loses a little weight, I guess he could get back to Sanyaku and stay there for some years. I'm afraid he'll never be Ozeki again, but Sekiwake or Komusubi from time to time? Why not. He has shown, that he has even the potential to win a Yusho. But if his health problems stay with him, he may soon retire. Come on, Dejima, be clever, and cure youre injuries, even if you might drop to Makushita.

What the heck is a "Kneidelach"? Thank you for the links. I just entered Tako's (my Brother) guess.

For some time I was Fan of Kyokushuzan because of his unusual style, but his lack of fighting spirit turned me away from him. Nowadays I love to see Asashoryu fight. I do not prefer a special style and I alway liked especially the fat and the thin guys, bringing variety to sumo. But my alltime favorite Rikishi is Shikishima. Don't ask me why, I just loved the guy. :-P

Sorry, I totally dislike guys like Vinnie. I prefer fair players like Gary Lineker (Linneker?) or Marco Bode.

Only Ten? (Going nuts...) Well, okay: 1. Genesis: Mama 2. Dire Straits: Brothers In Arms 3. Bruce Springsteen: The River 4. Pink Floyd: Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V 5. Black Crowes: Remedy 6. Live: Lightning Crashes 7. Dire Straits: Tunnel Of Love 8. Meatloaf: Paradise By The Dashbordlight 9. Genesis: Carpet Crawl 10. Scorpions: Still Loving You (Okay, I admit, I thought these up some time ago, so it wasn't that hard. At least not now.) Unfortunately great bands and singers like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns n' Roses, Big Country or John Mellencamp are completely missing in this Top 10. Not to mention ... and ... and ... ...

I dislike Monaco, because there are so few Fans interrested in this Club but they're so damn rich. I dislike Bordeaux as well, as there is a friendship between the Fans of Bordeaux and Bayern M
