    Hakuho Applying for Japanese Citizenship

My House, My Rules! They can do whatever they want. Unless there is a Bosman Law like it happen with Football, they can make their own rules and descriminations. Don't know much about Japan's legal system to know if a Bosman type ruling would be possible, but I would find it very difficult.

    New Ozeki Takakeisho

He can't receive an award because he is kyujo? Will he be allowed to attend his Ozeki promotion party next Sunday if still kyujo?

    The new mongolian generation

Mitoryu is definitly the biggest disappointment from your list. Was expecting for him to be at least a middle maegashira by now, but agree with you that he doesn't even look like he can reach makuuchi. Too soon to discard a Terunofuji come back? He is only 27 and still has time to reach higher ranks if doesn't get injured again.

    Trump coming to the basho

Overal I think it is safe to say Trump's visit turn out to be a success. He didn't do anything disrespectufully and had a professional behaviour. Only thing I could point out is that he could have tried to read some words in japanese, like thank you or hello. Yes, there were minor changes due to Security and the delaying in the last 5 matches starting, although the same happens when the Emperor shows up (not trying to put both at the same level. Of course the Emperor is more important for japanese people). All the publicity that it brought to Sumo all over the world is great for the sport. First time I see a Sumo related story on a mainstream portuguese newspaper, although the jornalist had no clue what he was writting about, and the same happen in many other countries. Although the journalists stories are in general very poor due to the fact they have no knowledge of the sport, believe that is enough for having some readers trying to find out a bit more about the sport and maybe became fans. On a negative side, I have to say I wasn't happy at all reading the comments of some people on the forum regarding Trump, which apart from insults even included death wishes. This is a forum with people all over the world, with different races, religions, ideologies, etc. If you want to discuss Politics, go somewhere else. There isn't a shortage of political forums out there.

    Natsu basho 2019 discussions [SPOILERS]

Are you saying that even if Tochi's foot actually touched outside (something still for discussion), he should be given the win anyway?

    Natsu basho 2019 discussions [SPOILERS]

Trying to give my opinion from a neutral point of view. In something that close is difficult for people to avoid mixing their feelings with their judgment. The same way in football on a close call for a penalty or an offside, you will have people totally conviced the decision was right or wrong, depending on the team they support, when in reality the referee decision was correct. 1 - This match would always had to have a monoi. The judges did very well calling it to review if the foot was in or out. This has happen several times and i've never seen it being questioned, especially the way it has been today. 2 - The controversial part. It isn't that clear that is foot wasn't actually out. Expecially from this image, which so far seems to be the best one to analyse, it is a 50 / 50. If judges decided one way on a 50 / 50, then they cannot be criticised the way they have been. They had to take a decision and a re-match was never an option as it is not applicable on this scenario. If this was like the Daiesho - Okinoumi match, which obviously no one in their right mind can say it was a good decision, I would understand some of the comments like saying the chief judge should resign. In this one, sorry, but no. It is just your emotions as a Tochinoshin supporter interfering with your judgment.

Goeido having a 3 win lead over Harumafuji on Day 11 and losing 3 of the last 4 to give Harumafuji his last yusho. That's the most recent coming to mind on a rikishi that had no injuries.

    Natsu basho 2019 discussions [SPOILERS]

So, will this committee that likes to repremand Hakuho all the time for silly reasons do something about Takakeisho spoiling the yusho race? What was the point of him coming back injured and be put on the schedulle to then drop the next day when he is due to fight one of yusho contenders giving him a freebie?

    Natsu basho 2019 discussions [SPOILERS]

There was one rikishi that show up there 4 years ago that should be the top dog by now - Terunofuji. When he was promoted to Ozeki he was already at the same level as Kak, Har and Kise. If it wasn't for the events we know, with the experience accumulated by now, he should have already replaced Hakuho as the dominant Yok. Who knows if there isn't another Dai-Yok already in the lower divisions under the radar and ready to explode in a couple of years? Remember Hakuho wasn't that great comming up the ranks and even had losing records in the lower divisions.

    Natsu basho 2019 discussions [SPOILERS]

Tochinoshin is definitly not one of my favourite wrestlers, but have to admit he deserves this Yusho and get back to Ozeki. Let's see what he does in the second week, but apart from Kakuryu that has been so so, all the ones above him are having crap performances.

    Takakeisho injury update

Go say that to Isegahama who ruined Terunofuji's carreer...

    May Banzuke

Believe today is an Holiday (Showa Day), according with the Internet. Next few days are also Holidays, but due to the new Emperor thing. Today, it seems to be an holiday every year.

    New recruits for Natsu 2019

Isn't this considered Child Labor? A referee is, at least in my opinion, a different category of a wrestler or other activities that a child can take that are paid (for instance a Movie Actor).

Day 15 pics overview Haru 2019

Showing the tongue to his parents? Should have been slapped straightaway! And who the hell gives a handshake to his own mother? Seems like if he is greeting someone he has just met.

    Haru Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Based on these 2 days i would put my money on Goeido for the Yusho. Although Takayasu and Takakeisho are also looking good. Even Mita. Hakuho we never know. He might keep fighting like this and still get a 15-0... Tochinoshin is done as an Ozeki. As for Tamawashi, does he really want to be an Ozeki? At his age does he want to go through all the trouble and stress of being an ozeki? He has accomplished what he wanted in January and can now retire as a happy man.

Preparations of the Y/O Haru 2019

Agree. It is starting to look like one of those rikishi that stays in upper maegashira for years doing 9-6, 6-9 and doesn't really go anywhere.
  17. RPedro44

Preparations of the Y/O Haru 2019

He does beat at least one Ozeki in every basho, so he might be taking something from it after all.

Preparations of the Y/O Haru 2019

Depends a bit of your Culture. As a South European I see no issue in using someone else's body to help exercising. Even in schools it is common to carry someone else as part of a gym class. Regarding the exercise itself, my question is more if it is actually beneficial what he is doing as the weight distribution is not 50 - 50. Unless what he was aiming to was to put more pressure in one side of his body.

    Some new rules..

Not joking, but are they also requested to cut pubic hair as a rule? Understand that asian people have less body hair (legs, chest, etc) than europeans or americans, but those mawashis don't cover much and you can't see any hair.
  20. RPedro44

Preparations of the Y/O Haru 2019

They need to change the question for all Y/O from is he planning to enter to is he planning to finish the basho.

    February special one day tournaments

@Mitakeumi, you need to listen to Tochinoshin! He is doing exactly the same mistakes as Terunofuji did. Don't want to be wrong, but believe he also participate on this Fuji basho while injured.
  22. RPedro44

Promotion/Demotion and Yusho discussion Hatsu 2019

He has been in upper maegashira for a while and always manages to beat at least one ozeki every time (ok, it's mostly Tochinoshin and he has never performed at ozeki level, since in the rank). He just needs to figure out how not to lose to lower ranks so often and then he can start putting double digits.
  23. RPedro44

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

He is out of Y / O to fight this basho, so no motivation any more. The only way he is ever going to win a yusho is if they put 15 people as Y / O on the banzuke.
  24. RPedro44

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

If you remove Hakuho from the picture and correct the gyoji's decision, the Y/O are now 1-14! Veeeery poor indeed.

    Terunofuji's health problems

The problem was not Teru. The problem was that Koto lost to a M3, a M1 and 2 SW. If he wanted to go back to OZ, then he shouldn't lose to lower rankers. Don't undestand the blame on Teru. And btw, the main problem is that anyone could pull an henka on Koto due to his fault, even you and me, so we shouldn't blame anyone for doing it.
