    Takanohana-beya scandal looming?

Maybe Harumafuji thought it would be a good idea to approach Takanoiwa the same way he does his junior. Then again, almost every "junior" gets mistreated, i'm just speculating a possible extra cause for the attack.

    Takanohana-beya scandal looming?

This makes me think, Harumafuji may have retired because of a scumbag and a crazy scarf-wearing "god".

Exactly, this is the best chance he has ever had to clinch the cup. 14-1 is not unlikely at all.

    Sumo and Religion

Can anyone enlighten me with an article or documentary about Shinto and what sumo means to it?
  10. Greetings sumo fans throughout the world, my name is João Pedro and im from Rio de Janeiro, im 20 years old, i'm a 4° generation japanese descendant, my first contact with sumo was about 4 years ago when i watched the documentary about Kyokutaisei on a Brazilian martial arts channel, i was shocked when i first saw how the sumo world works, it's so grueling and i've never seen or been through nothing like that in any martial art, after the documentary i watched some matches or highlights on youtube but it kind of fade away in my life since i've always been a martial arts practitioner and always been a fan of boxing so i naturally forgot about it with time, then december last year i opened youtube's front page and there was a sumo highlight video about a sumotori who had passed away and it was Chiyonofuji, i was amazed by his muscles and the way he fought, i instantly went researching about sumo and i spent the whole night reading about sumo, watching documentaries and the basho of the latest years, since then i've been a huge fan and sumo is becoming part of my daily life especially because of the Hatsu basho, it was my first "live" tournament, everyday i woke up anxious to watch the new Kintamayama highlight of the matches of the day, it has been one of the most exciting events i have seen, the energy is just different and unique, nothing compares to it, i look forward to be a member of this forum and continue learning about this beautiful tradition. Cheers!!!

    Basho Talk Hatsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

Tomorrow we have Tochinoshin vs Ichinojo, these two are fierce rivals and are having great basho so it means fireworks guaranteed. Unexpected end to what seemed like a pretty regular basho in the first couple of days.

    Hey there, new brazilian fan.

Plus Kisenosato back there with an expression that almost seems like he knew what was about to happen.
  13. Joaoiyama

Kisenosato-"I'm putting everything on the line!"

The right thing to do would be sit out maybe 2 basho to let him get in real good shape both phisically and mentally so that his injuries don't affect him that bad.

Kisenosato-"I'm putting everything on the line!"

I hope that IF Kise retires, something changes in the sumo world on how you treat injuries. First Japanese Yokozuna after so many years ruined by (not necesserily his)bad decisions upon injury, if this doesn't change minds about health in sumo then i don't know what will.

Still 4 days to go, a lot of things can happen in the yusho race. I'm with Tochinoshin on this one, hoping this year he reaches his potential and climbs to Ozeki.

    Basho Talk Hatsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

Not really, he's still got it but is going through injury recover which makes him not 100%. Giku just lost the mojo, that's what it seems like.

    Basho Talk Hatsu 2018 (SPOILERS)

I think Kise takes this with ease, while he's not 100%, Giku is only a frame of his former self.
