Noooooo!!! There goes my pick for the yusho! -
September (Aki) Basho- offical thread (yay..)
The Fat Cyclist replied to Kintamayama's topic in Honbasho Talk
I just watched that because of your comment. Ouch!!! -
Not at all surprised. I think they should have cancelled but I didn't think they would dare.
-
That's funny. If I were Tokushouryuu I'd send a good bottle of sake around.
-
You know that really wouldnt surprise me. I thought before his bout on day 1 that he had the look of someone who had had enough and would have much rather been somewhere else.
-
Exactly my point thanks. Look at this video & neither wrestler makes any real effort to get even close to the ground.
-
Watching some of his bouts on Youtube really shows that they were much more relaxed about the tachiai then. His hands dont even get close to the dohyo
-
If I remember correctly it's also a sort of security role to make sure that no one gets in the way of the rikishi and is traditionally the first job a retiree is given. Sort of a 'it doesnt matter who you were in the ring you start at the bottom again' thing
-
The Shimpan decide to have words with Hakuho for standing on the tawara after bouts & he promptly goes kyujo Kakuryu starts well but on day 6 pulls so hard he is last seen exiting the hall at speed, backward, prompting a nationwide search. Tochinoshin grunts so hard while trying to lift Inchinojo he does himself a damage and has to retire Yoshikaze yosho.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Kenshu "The ancient Japanese art of murdering a whole family for the indiscretions of a single person." Wait. That can't be right :)

Otsukasa. That's a name I havent heard for a while. Nice to see him well & still involved.

No. This is it, do well or retire. Unfortunately I expect the latter. -
Kyushu Basho 2018 Discussion [SPOILERS]
The Fat Cyclist replied to Eikokurai's topic in Honbasho Talk
Tochinoshin seems a bit lost. I assume it's related to his taped fingers on the right hand. He can't seem to go for a grip with them. -
Ha! What I get through Google is as follows which is much less fun although I would like to hear more about this "Horn World" :) "The Japan Sumo Association approved the retirement of the Takanohana parent who had notified the retirement at an extraordinary board meeting held on the 1st. With this, it was officially decided that the major yokozuna of Heisei 22 times went off the horn world."

Aki Basho 2018 Discussion [SPOILERS]
The Fat Cyclist replied to Asashosakari's topic in Honbasho Talk
Can I just say I was wrong about Kisenosato . . . . . and am absolutely delighted to be so. He doesnt look right but he is winning so far & I think as his confidence returns he should continue to do so. Not that I am now predicting a yusho mind.
