No, I'm mad about that Takakeisho never even thought about putting his hands down at tachiai! With his hands down PROPERLY, he never could've pulled off this ©®@p! Actually I think that this is a Kyokai problem. If the gyoji are unable to call these faults, they should tell one or two shimpan to watch the hands! Or... in around the 25th century the could install some kind of sensor in the floor of the dohyo... (?) Anyway, this was just unfair, but no, not because of the henka but because of the hands.

No Takakeisho-statement? Hm....

Wait for it... Ura can still make it to Yok first! :D

I hope this won't be seen as an overstep... :) The results from the daily NSK poll among spectators (not on the first three days, I guess) and paying app customers about which rikishi showed the most fighting spirit Day 1 Makuuchi 1. Takakeisho 2. Takanosho 3. Terunofuji Juryo 1. Ura 2. Kotoshoho 3. Nishikigi Day 2 Makuuchi 1. Meisei 2. Wakatakakage 3. Daieisho Juryo 1. Ura 2. Takakento 3. Takagenji Day 3 Makuuchi 1. Wakatakakage 2. Takakeisho 3. Takanosho Juryo 1. Ura 2. Takagenji 3. Oho Day 4 Makuuchi 1. Takakeisho 2. Wakatakakage 3. Takanosho Juryo 1. Takakento 2. Yutakayama 3. Oho

:D Thanks for the catch! Obviously, it was Oho (as shown on the table below), but I've corrected it.

Day 15Makuuchi1. Takakeisho 2. Terutsuyoshi3. Ishiura Juryo1. Ura2. Takakento3. Yago FINAL SCORES TOP5 Overall Makuuchi: 1. Takakeisho (26 pts) 2. Wakatakage (14 pts) 3. Meisei (13 pts) 4. Hoshoryu | Endo (both 7pts) TOP5 Overall Juryo: 1. Ura (30 pts) 2. Takakento (19 pts) 3. Oho | Nishikigi (both 7pts) 5. Takagenji | Enho (both 5 pts

Day 14Makuuchi1. Endo 2. Takakeisho3. Wakatakakage Juryo1. Ura2. Takakento3. Ichiyamamoto STANDINGS Overall Makuuchi: 1. Takakeisho (23 pts) 2. Wakatakage (14 pts) 3. Meisei (13 pts) 4. Hoshoryu | Endo (both 7pts) 6. Enho (6 pts) Wakatakakage is going to senshuraku with a 1-point advantage before Meisei, but also: say hello to Endo, who just appeared in the TOP5. Can he pass Hoshoryu on the last day? Overall Juryo: 1. Ura (30 pts) 2. Takakento (17 pts) 3. Oho | Nishikigi (both 7pts) 5. Takagenji | Enho (both 5 pts) Yesterday's questions haven't been answered yet, but Ichiyamamoto claimed 8th place in overall with today's bronze. He's only 2 points behind Takagenji and Enho! Can he get second place (or better) on the last day, and can he penetrate the TOP5 list?

My bad. :) I might be a little too tired and a little too hungarian for asking questions in these late hours... :D Seiyashi is right, I might have misunderstood Kinta.

But what if Hakuho retires after the (planned) Olympic Games? IF: - Terunofuji wins in May AND July (after winning March) - There is no other viable candidate in the Ozeki ranks (Asanoyama out, Takakeisho flukes again, Shodai stays Shodai) - AND there is no Yok on the top of the Banzuke in September Wouldn't it make sense for the Kyokai to go for a (hope-to-be-)last mongolian Yokozuna (with those knees), while they're trying to figure out who to build up after Asanoyama? So in other words: why are you so sure, it cannot happen?

Day 13Makuuchi1. Endo 2. Meisei3. Wakatakakage | Hoshoryu | Terunofuji (wow, I can't remember seeing a threeway before...)Juryo1. Ura2. Takakento3. Oho STANDINGS Overall Makuuchi: 1. Takakeisho (21 pts) 2. Wakatakage | Meisei (both 13 pts) 4. Hoshoryu (7 pts) 5. Enho (6 pts) Takakeisho's win is a done deal, but there's a big fight for 2nd place between Wakatakakage and Meisei, and also for the 4th (but of course it's not that easy for Enho to gain more points in Makuuchi)! Anyway, it will all go down on this weekend. Overall Juryo: 1. Ura (27 pts) 2. Takakento (15 pts) 3. Oho | Nishikigi (both 7pts) 5. Takagenji | Enho (both 5 pts) Oho or Nishikigi? Takagenji or Enho? We'll see! :)

So, another overstep, then: Behold the leaderboard for most spirited rikishi - after Nakabi! The method is simple. I gave 3 points for the winners, 2 points for second places, and 1 point for a bronze medal - each day. I hope you'll enjoy!

Not specially a dog name, but a weird coincidence: I had twin sons a little more than a year ago, and we gave them the hungarian versions of the originally hebrew name: "Samu" and "Ábris" (the first is short for Samuel the second is a nickname for Abraham). And sometimes we call our son Ábris, 'Ábi' - which is simply just too close to Abi the rikishi. They don't look alike at all (I mean my son, and Abi), also, I can't agree with Abi's life choices, but damn, he has a great shiko! We always have a great smile about this with my wife. And now, back to your initial story: Can you imagine Waka, Taka and Kage as the three little ducklings in the japanese version of Ducktales? (Damn, I laughed so hard, when I first read your wife's comment about his shikona)

Oh, he did win that! :) Really curious about the new numbers! :) Btw, thanks for posting them!

I think everybody is waiting... It's just calm before the storm! :) My top 5 most waited bouts from Day 1: #5 - Tochinoshin vs Ichinojo - looking forward to hear them grunt in the empty Kokugikan!!! #4 - Takayasu vs Tobizaru - can Takayasu bounce back from the loss in March? #3 - Shodai vs Hokutofuji - Hokutofuji won in March! Shodai didn't look that good during the preparations... Maybe the Greatest Stamper will get this one? #2 - Wakatakakage vs Takakeisho - 1-1? Come on... #1 - Asanoyama vs Daieisho - 6-9 to Daieisho. Last two had been won by him too. Last time, when Daieisho won against Asanoyama on Day 1, he clinched the yusho. Great musubi no ichiban for the day! :)

Hey guys, I'm happy to inform all of you that Hungary will held its National Championship on the 9th of May. It's gonna take place in a small town called Érd (which has a famous sumo team called Érdi Spartacus), in a venue called Érd Aréna. This is a very important tournament as this is the only one this year (beacuse of the coronavirus), so the winners gonna get their qualifications for the EC and the WC too! We won't have a crowd (according to the latest rules and guidelines in Hungary), but it seems, they'll do a live stream of the event - possibly with hungarian audiocommentar. If this happens, I'll try to share it with you, if you'd like. :)

Bouts are gonna happen simultaneously on both of the dohyos.
