Promotion/Demotion and Yusho discussion Hatsu 2021
Dapeng replied to Asashosakari's topic in Honbasho Talk
My impression is that there was no sansho at all for Aki 2018. -
More than 7500 new confirmed cases yesterday. They should cancel this basho. The vaccine is coming, do the best to avoid being taken down by the virus.
-
It seems it's getting worse and worse everywhere ......
-
Now more than two thousands new cases a day. Will the January basho be canceled? It seems vaccinations will not be available to the public until March.
-
Hakuho's performance in 2019 (51 wins and 2 Y) was probably the best among all makuuchi. His performance this year was affected by the Covid 19, in my opinion. With the current speed of spreading of the epidemic, the January basho will probably be canceled. By March they may have the vaccine and everything back to normal, including Hakuho and Kakuryu's performance on dohyo.

How fast will be the promotion if he keeps winning without a single loss?

Non-K-November basho 2020 Discussion (spoiler space)
Dapeng replied to Akinomaki's topic in Honbasho Talk
Four top guys out. The virus is to be blamed. Will the rikishies be among the first group of people to have the vaccine? -
Dapeng started following Nokozuna again?
-
As I said before, an ozeki has 3 consecutive bad basho to lose his rank for good (but can still choose to remain as a active rikishi). A yokozuna should be given at least 3 consecutive kyujo before entering a basho in which his performance must satisfy the NSK. In addition, a yokozuna should yusho at least once every 6 bashos.
-
An ozeki has three bashos to keep or resume his rank. Maybe a yokozuna should be given four bashos.
-
For Kakuryu, next January basho will probably be his last one as a active rikishi. For Hakuho, he still can yusho next January. But as a GOAT, I think he should take at least one yusho plus one jun-yusho in one year.
-
Any other country has such a law that you have to obtain an agreement from your home country before you can apply for citizenship from another country?
-
By March next year at least the vulnerable population including rikishi are expected to be vaccinated. If not the Haru basho, the summer basho will be back to normal. The post infection immunity seems strong because very few got infected again. The vaccine should be very effective too.

Kakuryu is not bad at all. Until now, he has makekoshi to 6 rikishi (with more than 3 meetings), who are Asashoryu, Hakuho, Kisenosato, Harumafuji, and 3 retired ozeki plus 1 below ozeki. In the current banzuke, he only makekoshi to Hakuho. He has 6 yusho under his belt, no shame record in Hakuho era.
