    March basho 2021

Mitakeumi has not been able to reach Ozeki and now he is 5 - 7. in my opinion he will not reach Ozeki if he continue as he has done until now. We see when he goes up against Asanoyama that he seems not to be at Ozeki level now. The question is if he he able to reach Ozeki, hsa he the capacity to do it?
  4. I think that Enho need to do as his stablemaster says with starting using sweeping legs and in this way he would improve his sumo so that he can win
  5. Mitakeumi has tried tournaemnt after tournament to reach ozeki but it does not seems that he is able to reach that position. I don't think he will get to Ozeki otherwhise he would have done this already

2019 Kyushu Basho Discussion (spoiler alert)

I agree, it seems that one basho he is doing well and the next basho he is not maintaining the level to get enough wins and get these quality wins after he has gotten the win of one basho or double digits win

    Takakeisho injury update

Exactly, If Takakeisho do not rest as needed or maybe surgery, then probably he will be the next person going down and demoted to lower divisions

    Haru Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Takakeisho has already quality wins. He won against Kakuryu and against Takayasu and these two wins was not easy. If he wins against Ichinojo or Tochinoshin then he has double digit wins. I do not think he has to win against both of them to be promoted

    Haru Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

It does not look good for Mitakeumi. When he continues like this he will be demoted from sanyaku instead of being promoted to sekiwake

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

I think Takakeisho is Ozeki materrial. As we have seen in the 5 last basho's Takakeisho has had above 10 wins in 4 basho's with 9 wins in the 3rd basho and there is only a few rikishi that has done it as Takakeisho.

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Takakeisho is not promoted to Ozeki, in spite of that he has 33 wins in three tournaments. Record in the last three tournaments: September 9-6 November 12-3 January 11-4 This is total of 33 wins in thee consecutive tournaments, but they will still see another tournament. You can't say that 33 wins in three tournaments are a rule for promotion to Ozeki, for then he would be promoted. What is the reason that they are not consistent with the 33 wins?

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Agreed. Takakeisho has determination and confidence and this has brought him to that high level. Earlier the reporter said we see a shift that the new guys who have come up in the makuuchi and sanyaku division are young and got some experience. It will be exciting to see not only Sunday but this year it might be possible that Takakeisho will become Ozeki, he has already 33 wins in three consecutive tournaments. Other young rikishi we might also see become Ozeki and maybe this year or next year we might see a new yokozuna.

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Hakuho was slow in 360 turn and Tamawashi was faster and continued his thrust. Maybe it is pain in Hakuho's toe again, in any case he lost focus a second before he continued and that was the mistake that Hakuho had done and then it was a win for Tamawashi.

I appreciate the English commentary on mbovo's stream. Maybe there is still Japanese if you watch the stream on youtube

Rikishi Status Hatsu 2019 - Final

Now he have to go through recovery and rehabilitation and really train hard after the rehabilitation. In this way we will not see the on going disappointments that he is not able to manage the sanyaku division and get promoted to Ozeki. After that he will be able to be promoted to yokozuna. They do not get the rest that they need after a tournament. Rikishi these days do not get rest after tournament when they go travel around the country. I think this is a major cause that we have not seen Mitakeumi been promoted to Ozeki and Yokozuna run

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Mitakeumi will not be promoted to Ozeki in this way, because every tournament it has been the same way and he has not be injured like today. It does not seem that Mitakeumi has what it takes to get promoted to Ozeki. Before Takakeisho will get further he needs to learn and use the mawashi

    Hatsu Basho 2019 Discussion [SPOILERS]

Mitakeumi looked good today, he managed to do his style of sumo, he said in the interview. On the other hand it was not a good start for Kisenosato with a loss on the first day, this is the second loss in eight matches.

    Live Streaming - Kyushu 18

For Kyushu 18 , there are 5 likely sources of free live sumo video streaming that should be available. The best sources will probably be Mbovo, Sherming9 and Abema. Konan Sports has NHK-G with a curtailed video display. qq is questionable NHK World will broadcast part of Makuuchi live in english for Days 1 and 8 of Aki starting at 5:10PM JST. Mbovo normally starts at about 2:45 PM JST with NHK BS and then shifts to NHK G. Streaming normally starts near the Juryo dohyo-iri and continues through Makuuchi. It features high quality video and a chat connection used by some of our members. Best viewed in Theater Mode (click lower right). Sherming9 is an old favorite here which displays NHK-G 24/7 and includes a chat window. Abema is a commercially available site which is normally available only in Japan, but it can be acquired world-wide using a VPN. Coverage includes ALL sumo divisions with some commercial breaks. You will need a VPN to reach AbemaTV. It runs all the divisions. I have seen that D I Sumo youtube channel have livestream from AbemaTV later from NHK Konan NHK G provides live coverage from mid-Juryo through Makuuchi. A usable backup if all else fails. qq/qq1 is a Chinese site with very unpredictable programming. It may pickup the Abema coverage or mirror the NHK-G service. Start times vary, and it sometimes takes the day off for non-sumo activity. For Natsu and Nagoya, it only had coverage for a few days. Use this topic to record/comment on coverage availability for Aki. Use other topics to discuss the content of the matches. Note 1: Day 1 is on a weekend, so NHK-BS will not cover sumo. Coverage on NHK-G is scheduled to start sumo at 3:05PM JST. Note 2: Konan is running with a 2 minute delay. Mbovo has about a 3 minute delay. Note 3: The Sherming 9 link for NHK-G was active for less than 24 hours. Its plug was pulled by the copyright cops just before the Day1 sumo went on the air. There are Grand Sumo Highlights at NHK 5.30 pm CEST the next day or you can see them at Grand Sumo Awesome youtube channel Grand Sumo Preview is at 5.30 am and 9.30 am CEST on friday at https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/
