Thank you! I must have been thinking of the guitar player, Steve Vai.

I could be wrong but if I recall correctly, that fish is known as “Vai” which also means “victory” in Japanese.

    Sekitori Sweepstake - July 2024

I am so excited to win my first Yusho!!! Big thanks to my partner Shirokuma, my favorite “Polar Bear”, without whom I could not have done it! Big thanks also to Nichinoseki Oyakata (ex-Kisenosato) for raising us to be champions! Special thanks to @Athenayama for the day-to-day operation of this game and to @Jejima for dreaming it up! Whew!! Winning the Yusho is hard work. Shirokuma and I are exhausted! Time to sit down and throw back some sake to celebrate! Thanks everyone for playing.

Instead of “Haha” to indicate you’re happy with your pick, why not ❤️? “Haha” to me indicates you’re laughing at who your pick is.

    Scream fans?(No spoilers)

Hi Fujisan, I’m not a Scream fan but out of curiosity, I Googled “Anika and Ethan switching their hats”. I found a Reddit discussion where one poster said they heard that the actors did it during a take and the directors loved it & decided to keep it that way. P.S. It made me happy that you liked the second card I made for you.

Is it too late for a friend of mine who has never played before to enter? He used to be quite active on SF but has been busy in other areas of his life. As soon as he finds his password, he’ll be back on board. In the meantime, I would like to register him for the game if it’s not too late.

    Asashoryu—-Does he have cancer?

Another quote from Reddit. Original source unknown. Originally published in Japanese, then translated to English using Google. Dated April 12, 2024. “I will be admitted to a hospital in Tokyo as of today. I don’t know the cause yet, but I’m undergoing tests. I hope I’ll get better and be able to smile again. I’m grateful to everyone who supports me. From Dorji” ————————————————— This is not new information. Both this quote and the original quote in my first post are dated April 12, 2024. Notice he said nothing about cancer in this quote. I’m trying not to be cynical but he does seem to like to be the center of attention.
  13. Stunning news: Asashoryu reports via his Instagram account of being diagnosed with cancer. "I hope to get it over successfully," he writes. "Cancer... whatever it is." Get completely well soon, great Yokozuna. You have so much to do back home in Mongolia and have millions of fans who love and are praying for you ————————————————— Is this true? It was posted on Reddit. EDIT—- I will delete this if it is unfounded. I quoted it verbatim.
  14. Sounds like you have a real bargain. I look at it this way. If I watch all 15 days of a basho and I’m paying $25USD/mo, that’s $1.67 for 2 hours of live sumo daily. That to me is a super bargain!
  15. We were paying $25USD/mo for TV Japan so it doesn’t bother us. I suppose if it really bothers you, you could sign up only during the months that have a basho, then discontinue it afterwards!
