    UDH Aki Basho 2020

That, of course, will not happen as UDH replacements only kick in in case of a Day 1 absence. If one of your rikishi drops out during the basho you score points every day.

    Games Bugs

This should not matter: According to the rules any picks will be disregarded with Kizakiumi not fighting on day 1.

Just in case anyone is wondering: This is last basho's rank, Kainoshima is M38e this time.

    Sumo Games Deadlines

Exil seems to be gone for quite a while now. I am not sure how this script works - could another admin take over? The countdown is a really useful tool and it would be a shame to lose it.

Yes, luckily only your picks count, not if you are able to remember them!

Definitely not a newbie mistake - it happens to me every single time I play! :)

  9. Thanks a lot, Neko! I have to say I really enjoy getting the results at the most unusual times! :)

    Class Dismissed July 2020

I fully agree with Athenayama. I guess there would be option 3 = change the banzuke format. For example, at one point 21 used a ranking that compiled the average points in the last 6 or so basho and arranged the players accordingly. Anyway, I agree that with only a couple of players there is no need for a banzuke. However, there is hope that some more players will join in the future, so please do continue running it. The game is simple and fun and it would be a shame to lose it. I'll definitely stay on board! Thanks, Wakatake!

    Tagonoura Woes

This already happened last September and has been reported back in April , see this and the following posts. Apparently Tagonoura has already been divorced and dates a new woman which might or might not be connected to his latest scandal.
  13. Well there was one tragic case of a 7-0 ms15TD not being promoted..

    General Corona Banter

Well, that was actually my point: Life is fun for me, too, and - as long as you are not quarantained - there still seems to be plenty of fun things to do, even if some of them will require you to keep more distance than usual or wear a mask. BTW: Most people would probably not consider spending time with their family/loved ones to be a sacrifice! Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience, not spark another political debate. I do hope you will find a way out of your personal misery. Stay safe!
  15. I'm also fine with either decision you make, Achiyama. It seems that only three players did not make their picks and, to answer Jejima's rhetoric question, I doubt that they would really care if you keep the results. Personally, I am surprised that anyone would feel "penalised", let alone act as emotionally as wolfgangho did, if a day is annulled in this circumstances, but it seems to be the case. And no need at all to feel guilty, Achiyama, we all appreciate your efforts in manually administrating this game!

    General Corona Banter

To me, going shopping is about the same amount of fun regardless if I wear a mask or not. I am also unsure whether I look more stupid if I wear one or even better (at least I don't have to worry about being unshaven anymore)! ;) On a more serious note: It's interesting that the pandemic produces such different experiences: To me, overall, the quality of life actually improved during the crisis as I was able to spend more time with my kids and had to travel less for work reasons, basically not at all for several months. As we had no complete lockdown in Germany and the playgrounds reopened pretty soon, my family and me were also able to spent way more time with other parents in the neighborhood and with our friends - the only thing that changed was that we kept more distance and avoided shaking hands or hugging which, obviously, is not really a big deal. Playing tennis or football was not possible for a couple of months (luckily it was allowed again just in time for summer), but with so much spare time at hand I went jogging every day and feel as fit as never before. Of course, I am at a stage of life where I am not interested in big parties anymore and with small kids you tend to eat at home instead of going out anyway.
  17. Though I managed to make my picks, I would suggest annulment. If I see correctly, you have posted the updated link at 4 a.m. Central European Time on a Sunday with only a couple of hours until the deadline. This seems a bit unfair to everyone in this time zone(s), especially those without small kids that would wake him/her anyway. :) Out of experience: When you have occasionally posted the torikumi at that time (which means late afternoon/evening CET) in the past, I forgot making my picks in about 50 % of the cases as this is not my regular "sumo time" and I make my other game picks earlier. Thus I guess I would have to stop playing TUG. As late torikumi changes are very rare and this was, I think, the first time in TUG history that we had this problem, I would vote for not changing anything. Thanks for all your efforts!
  18. As nobody has mentioned it so far: Many bouts are wrong due to the torikumi change after Abi's withdrawal. Do not make any picks until Achiyama has updated the link.

    Premier Fantasy Football

I have deep respect for you on the virtual dohyo and beyond, which makes it even harder to understand why you would post such a comment that seems pointless (given the topic of this thread) as well as tactless (in the light of the thousands that are dead or still dying "from the plague", including one active rikishi). It's perfectly fine to disagree with whatever "utter bollocks"-posts you are referring to, but do you really think this is a proper way of showing it?

    General Corona Banter

That's not true, a lot of diseases can cause a loss of taste or smell. It's not so well known but hyposmia is actually a rather common symptom with various viral diseases, allergies and all kinds of dementia. (That's meant as a general remark, of course at the moment you should be tested for COVID 19 in case you experience it).

    Corona and sumo

Not sure if I see your point. They will be losing the money from ticket sales anyway, regardless if the basho is cancelled completely or held without spectators. Surely it would be better to get the TV and kensho money (assuming it is higher than the yusho bonuses) than nothing at all. After all they need to pay the rikishi - unless they are willing to accept a pay cut which has become the rule in other sports - and maintain the heya infrastructure.

What are your "best" SB games?

Nice idea! No big surprises in my case as well with four daily games among the top 5. One should mention some changes over time as well. +135 of my 135,93 points in S-O came before 2014... Regarding the games that ceased operation: Funny that ten more years of Fantasy Sumo were not enough to match the points total of GISP despite the games being so similar.

    Class Dismissed Haru 2020

Thanks Wakatake, and congratulations Achiyama on a well-earned jun-yusho! That game is really fun, I hope more players will join us in the near future. May I suggest something: Now that you use Surveymonkey for the picks (instead of the forum), it would be great, if you could post the teams after the deadline, so that people can keep track of the results during the basho. Thanks again!
