    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings Day 9: Adjusted Oracle standings: Gonzaburow (586) in front of Beeftank (580), and chishafuwaku/Norizo/ScreechingOwl (577). In the Kyushu Masters, Athenayama lost his leading position after dropping 7 points in Salarycap Sumo (9 SCS points for today...). At the same time, Andoreasu surged and now leads with 50.50 points. He is pursued by Beeftank (40.00), Kintamayama (40.00), Norizo (39.61), Gonzaburow (37.40), Athenayama (37.00), Terarno (36.21) and Tetsuba (30.71). Not that much to report in the World Championships. Except for Pandaazuma and Gonzaburow who dropped some points, all Top 6 players slightly improved. Behind distant Oskanohana, Norizo, Kaito, Gonzaburow, Susanoo, and Pandaazuma continue to fight for second place. No changes between places 7 to 10. Lurking outside of the Top 10 are Oshirokita, Kintamayama, ScreechingOwl, and Athenayama.

Thanks a ton, Athenayama. I guess there are more players with 4-5 records? Asked differently, could you name the few players at 4-5 who scored a win today? Edit: Ok, the page is back online... thanks anyway!

I get a runtime error when trying to access the TTT standings. All other sumogames.de games display results properly. If someone has the Top 10 data, I'd be interested in knowing them.

    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings after nakabi: Adjusted Oracle standings: Gonzaburow (581) over Beeftank (576) and Bunbukuchagama (575). Salarycap standings: Sakura (873) over KonyaGaYamada (825) and Ganzohnesushi (810). In the Kyushu Masters, Athenayama managed to defend first place (45.10). But there are many other contestants for the Green Mawashi. At the moment, Gonzaburow (40.42), Kamibaka (39.83), Andoreasu (39.53), Tetsuba (38.29), Pandaazuma (32.97), Beeftank (31.75), and Konya ga Yamada (31.38) stick out. Oskanohana extends his lead over second place to more than 35 points now. That looks very promising for him now. The battle for second place continues: currently Gonzaburow is 2nd, Pandaazuma is 3rd, Kaito is 4th, Norizo is 5th, and Susanoo 6th. Joaoiyama and Andoreasu firmly remain in 7th and 8th, respectively. Golynohana stays 9th while Athenayama has squeezed himself into 10th place. Other players who might have a shot at the Top 10 at the moment are Oshirokita, Balon, ScreechingOwl, and chishafuwaku. Not-charted players in triple digits are Bunbukuchagama (107.71) and TochiYESshin (103.61).

    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings Day 7: Adjusted Oracle standings: GONZABUROW (593) with a notable lead over Choshu-yuki and Beeftank (587). There seems to be a first-place curse at work: yesterday, Kyushu frontrunner GONZABUROW lost 32 points, dropping from 1st to 12th for the basho. Today, frontrunner Terarno lost 30 points and slips to 7th place for the basho. As a result, the Kyushu standings become murkier than ever, with no clear favorite in sight. Athenayama currently leads for the basho with a mediocre 45.50 points. Also in the 30+ range, we have Norizo (37.25), Choshu-yuki (37.11), GONZABUROW (35.62), Kintamayama (35.21), Andoreasu (31.26), and Terarno (30.42). In the World Championship, Oskanohana extends his lead over second place to 32 points (more than at shonichi), thanks to a crucial win in Sumo Game and a successful gamble in Odd Sumo. A fierce fight for the jun-World Championship title now breaks out between five players: Norizo's clear upward trend over the last few days propels him to 2nd place; Kaito advances to 3rd; GONZABUROW is back in the upper half of the Top 10 (4th); Susanoo drops to 5th; and Pandaazuma now leads the lower half of the Top 10. Joaoiyama is the only resident in no-man's land between 134 and 177 Masters points. Andoreasu defends 8th place. Golynohana jumps into the Top 10 in 9th while chishafuwaku drops to 10th place. However, there are five other players lurking just outside of the Top 10, among them an ever-improving Kintamayama who now joins the chart.

Invitation for Makushita Game: Kyushu 2023

Standings after Day 6: Wamahada leads the proceedings with a relatively low score (an adjusted 10-5 prospect). Asapedroryu, Papayasu, and chishafuwaku trail by only half a point. To determine your current W/L prospect: add 1.5 points to your WP column and round down (for players down to M4); add 2 points to your WP column and round down (for players below M4). That means an almost collective failure by the players at the top of the banzuke. Both Yokozuna and two out of three active Ozeki are on a course for MK at the moment. Sansho standings: Shukun-sho: Kaiowaka (for picking Kitaharima) Kanto-sho: chishafuwaku (31 wins) Gino-sho: chishafuwaku (with the incredibly low score of 6.18 points; e.g. 2 points for Oyamatoumi)

    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings after Day 6: Adjusted Oracle standings: Beeftank (588.5) in front of chishafuwaku and Sakura (587.5). Wow. If you really want to know how it feels to lose 32.57 Masters points on a single day, please ask Gonzaburow. Yesterday, the Japanese gaming veteran was leading the Kyushu standings by miles; today Gonzaburow isn't even in the Top 10 for Kyushu anymore. Ouch. Instead, we have another high-flying prospect to lead the standings by a mile, and that's Terarno (60.41). Other players with notable points are Andoreasu (36.47), chishafuwaku (35.85), Sakura (33.00), Pandaazuma (31.92), Athenayama (31.50), Tetsuba (30.84), and Norizo (30.33). With Gonzaburow's downfall, the World Championship standings are back to boring. Though Oskanohana has only 2.07 Kyushu Masters points since shonichi, he still sports a clear lead over Susanoo (8.50 Kyushu points). Second place in the World Championship is quite contested though, with Pandaazuma, Kaito, and Norizo all within about 4 points distance to Susanoo. Gonzaburow drops from 2nd to 6th place. Joaoiyama also had a very poor day, lost about 15 points, but stays in 7th. Andoreasu stays in 8th place, and chishafuwaku in 9th. 10th place is taken by Balon, but contested by Oshirokita and Golynohana at the moment. Disclaimer: there have been other players over the basho who were moving into triple digits, but the graph would have only become less readable if I put them all onto it. I will add those players once they are within 10-points range of the Top 10. Currently, this concerns Sakura (109.21), TochiYESsshin (106.66), and Kintamayama (104.24).

    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings after Day 5: Adjusted Oracle standings: Beeftank and Pandaazuma (597) in front of chishafuwaku, Flohru, and Kaito (596). Gonzaburow had a hell of a day, and if it weren't for a loss in Quad, he would currently vie for more than 60 Kyushu points (57.84 currently). Nobody comes even close. Other players north of 30 are Pandaazuma (37.94), Terarno (36.54), Andoreasu (32.96) and Korinokoishi (30.00). This has some implications for the World Championship. Some vibes from last year creep up. All relaxed, Oskanohana? Again, there is an imminent danger emerging from a Japanese veteran player as Gonzaburow straddles the 200 points mark. Oscar still leads by about 11 points, and it might be that Gonzaburow is now peaking, but I wouldn't call the race off right now. Kaito drops to third, Pandaazuma remains in 4th and Susanoo falls to 5th, but this trio is divided by about 6 points only. Norizo and Joaoiyama battle for 6th place, swapping positions in that process. Then comes a huge no-man's-territory (which was occupied by chishafuwaku yesterday). But lots of players who started great into the basho plummeted considerably (chishafuwaku, Athenayama, Gansekiiwa, Kitakachiyama). The Top 10 are rounded out by Andoreasu, chishafuwaku, and Oshirokita (who is currently without a Kyushu point).

    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings after Day 4: Adjusted Oracle standings for Kyushu: chishafuwaku (599.5) over Beeftank and Flohru (598.5). chishafuwaku continues to lead in the Kyushu standings (50.21), but Athenayama is on his heels (48.64). Other notable performances by Oortael (38.50), Gonzaburow (36.66), Flohru (33.17) and Pandaazuma (32.45). Gansekiiwa had an abysmal day. Oskanohana continues to sail through Kyushu Basho. But wait, is this a shark lurking beneath the water-line? Kaito came to life and reduced Oscar's leading margin to less than 17 points. Susanoo drops to third place, barely having the upper edge over Pandaazuma and Gonzaburow. Joaoiyama drops to the lower half of the Top 10, leading over Norizo. Kyushu leader chishafuwaku sits in 8th place, currently in no-man's land. The Top 10 are now rounded out by Athenayama and Andoreasu.

    Superbanzuke Ranking for Kyushu 2023

Hi there, the new Superbanzuke (permalink) has been uploaded. Pandaazuma lost another game Yokozuna title and therefore dropped to Ozeki 1w on the Superbanzuke. However, last edition's Y1e Konosato had a relatively poor Aki Basho and dropped to O1e. In other words, we have two new Yokozuna at the top of the standings: Golynohana is Y1e while Susanoo advances to the West Yokozuna position. The Rankings are more contested than ever in recent memory - there are ten players within 1000 points from the top.

    Sumo Gaming World Championship 2023

Standings after Day 3: Hooray, now we also have UDH included, giving us a complete picture for the first time this basho! In the Kyushu Masters, chishafuwaku (58.93) and Flohru (54.50) are off to a great start. Gansekiiwa (44.08) also is in very good shape so far. Other players in the 30+ range are Terarno (36.31), Pandaazuma (33.45), Konya ga Yamada (31.04), express (30.00) and Korinokoishi (30.00). The list above includes only a single player (Pandaazuma) who was among the Top 10 in the World Championship before the basho. Everyone else seems to have a lackluster basho up to now. That's good news for Oskanohana: while he lost momentum in the previous days, his main pursuers Susanoo and Kaito also do not fare much better. With mediocrity among the previous Top 10, we have a number of players who entered the Top 10. chishafuwaku is in 8th place, Gansekiiwa in 9th, and Flohru in 10th.

Incomplete Standings after Day 2: I won't comment much today as the standings below are incomplete. There are no data for UDH yet so we don't know the real numbers. However, for those who want to get a glimpse into the rough shape of "The Graph" I did the analyses without UDH information, adding an ounce of pointlessness to the overall pointlessness of this whole endeavor :) Looks like Oskanohana can buy a bottle of Cava for a potential victory celebration. But after only two days I wouldn't put the cava into the fridge, let alone open it yet.

    Aki 2023 Superbanzuke Masters Series

Hiya, I just computed the Superbanzuke Aki Masters Series (permalink). Oskahanada has won his second career Green Mawashi with relative ease, amassing more than 80 Masters points at Aki Basho. He received yusho in Norizo Cup, Sekitori-Quadrumvirate, and Upside Down Hoshitori. He also finished runner-up in Turn the Tide, among six other Top 10 performances. With an overall second place and three double digit performances (yusho in Roto Sumo, jun-yusho in Salarycap Sumo and Sekitori Oracle), Torafujii won the shukun-sho, his first Superbanzuke sansho ever.Norizo has won his ninth career gino-sho, extending his own record for most Technique Prizes. He was impressive on both the daily scene (e.g., Tippspiel and Quad) as well as in pre-basho games (e.g., jun-yusho in Ozumo Bingo Game).Somewhat surprisingly, after winning eight Green Mawashi and 13 sansho, Susanoo is awarded his his first career kanto-sho for finishing among the Top 10 in seven different games.Congratulations to all the winners! Also updated: the standings of the World Championship after Aki Basho. I feel eerily reminded of last year. Last September, Oskahanada was sporting a 23 point lead over Susanoo (and lost to the latter in Kyushu Basho). Now we have a similar situation, with Oskahanada leading over Susanoo with a 19-points margin. Though he lost the pole position, Kaito is very much in the race, trailing Oscar by 20 points. Pandaazuma, Norizo, Gonzaburow, and Joaoiyama already have to overcome about 50 points differential to vie for the trophy - it's a long shot but not entirely inconceivable. Seven other players (for a total of 14 players) go into Kyushu Basho with triple digits.

    Aki 2023 Superbanzuke Masters Series

Standings for the Masters and the World Championship have been amended. Oskanohana's closest pursuer for the World Championship is now Kaito.

Final standings: yusho: M7 Wamahada jun-yusho: Yokozuna Kobashi Scores down to M4: take the win points and round up half-points Below M4: add 0.5 to your win points and round down half-points. Shukun-sho: Kaiowaka (for picking Hitoshi and Kayo) Kanto-sho: Wamahada (65 wins) Gino-sho: Kaiowaka (14.50 points; e.g. 3 points for Kayo, 2 points for Sasakiyama). Thanks for playing!!

Invitation for Makushita Game: Aki 2023

Standings after Day 6: Yokozuna Kobashi was in dire straits after posting make-koshi in his two previous outings. What better way to make amends than leading the standings for the Aki Basho? As of now, only Wamahada and Asapedroryu keep up with the good pace made by Kobashi. As for the two kadoban-Ozeki, Flohru currently is in the green while Asashosakari must fear demotion to Sekiwake if he cannot improve. You can compute your current W/L estimation by adding 0.5 point to your win points (and round up half-points) if you are at or above M4. If you are below M4, you may add 1.5 points to your win points (and round up half-points). Sansho standings: Shukun-sho: Asapedroryu, for picking Takerufuji, Otsuji, Asashiju, Asahakuryu, Oshoryu, Kyokutaisei, and Daiseizan (all at 3-0) Kanto-sho: Wamahada (34 wins) Gino-sho: Kaiowaka (5.46 points; e.g. 1 points each for Kayo and Sasakiyama)

    Superbanzuke Ranking for Aki 2023

Konbanwa, the newest edition of the Superbanzuke (permalink) has been published. For the first time since Hatsu 2022 (and only for the second time in the last six years) Pandaazuma is *not* leading the World Ranking (and those who want to enjoy the place in the sun should hurry up doing so because I fully expect the Panda to ascend in Hoshitori Game). The one who *can* enjoy the place in the sun is Konosato who leads the standings. Currently there are nine players(!) at the top within about 800 points distance. So watch out not only for Konosato and Pandaazuma, but also for Joaoiyama, Andoreasu, Golynohana, Flohru, Susanoo, Kitakachiyama, and Kaito! Good luck for the rest of the basho!
  21. Results from the 2023 Nagoya Masters can be found here (permalink). With a very dominating performance that included no less than four yusho (Bench Sumo, Chaingang, Norizo Cup, and Sekitori- Oracle), Kaito won his second career Green Mawashi. He scored 77.50 Masters points, beating runner-up Gonzaburow by almost 35 points.Speaking of Gonzaburow, the Japanese veteran gamer received a third career shukun-sho (and the second consecutive one) for finishing second in overall standings with two yusho (RotoSumo and UDH).Andonishiki gets his second career gino-sho for scoring well in daily games (e.g. ISP jun-yusho) and pre-basho games (yusho in Salarycap Sumo).Flohru wins the kanto-sho with Top 10-performances in ten different games. With that, Flohru extends the all-time record for Superbanzuke sansho as this is already his 14th(!!) Fighting Spirit Prize!Congratulations to all the winners! I have also updated the standings of the World Championship 2023. With his glorious Nagoya performance, Kaito has taken the lead for the year (155.13 points). However, seven other players are already in triple digits: reigning champion Susanoo (140.78), Gonzaburow (132.04), multiple World Champion Pandaazuma (127.95), Oshirokita (121.34), 2021 World Champion Joaoiyama (117.60), multiple World Champion Norizo (113.53), and Oskahanada (113.36).

    Superbanzuke statistics ?

Under the link below you can find a PDF document listing all 670 players who ever won a yusho in a Superbanzuke game. For each player, all games are listed, total number of yusho, total number of yushoing games, first yusho and last yusho. Norizo tops the list with 62 yusho, followed by Susanoo (57) and Andoreasu (54). Pandaazuma is indeed the only player to win a yusho in all games (except for defunct GISP). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KAHilZlhIMLVJsfEHbUmttn6NqL3GKs1/view?usp=drive_link

    Superbanzuke statistics ?

Hi there, I haven't updated yusho lists for a while, but started to do so today. I'll have to write a new macro to do more detailed statistics. Anyway, I can provide some tentative answers to some of the questions: The oldest game on my list is Hoshitori Game which turned 29 years this basho. ISP might have predecessors in early Usenet discussions, but I could track the game (and yusho winners) back to Nagoya 1996. As for players who won a game repeatedly, a visual inspection (error-prone!) revealed three instances of three-peats. Doitsuyama won Tippspiel three times in a row; Itachiyama won Bench Makuuchi three times in a row; and Pandaazuma had three consecutive yusho in Sekitori Oracle. No player ever has won ten yusho in a single game. Asashosakari had his ninth GTB yusho in Aki 2019 but is yusho-less since then. Since Aki 2021 Andoreasu has nine Tippspiel yusho under his belt. Here are the most frequent winners per game: Hoshitori Game: Andoreasu, Choshu-yuski, Doitsuyama (4 times) ISP: Jakusotsu, Kintamayama (4 times) GISP (retired game): Kintaro (5 times) GTB: Asashosakari (9 times) UDH: Gonzaburow, Obana (6 times) Bench Sumo: Flohru (7 times) Norizo Cup: Choshu-yuki (7 times) Paper Oyakata: Marihime (4 times) Sumo Game: Norizo (8 times) Tippspiel: Andoreasu (9 times) Juryo Game: Itachi, Mariohana (4 times) Sekitori-Toto: Andoreasu (8 times) Sekitori-Oracle: Pandaazuma (6 times) Odd Sumo: Choshu-yuki, Oskahanada (8 times) Chaingang: Susanoo (6 times) RotoSumo: Fujisan (7 times) Fantasy Sumo (retired game): Doitsuyama, Pandaazuma, Sushiyama (3 times) Sekitori-Quad: Norizo (6 times) Salarycap Sumo: Fujisan (4 times) Ozumo Bingo Game: Iepii (5 times) Turn the Tide: Ganzohnesushi, Susanoo (4 times)
  24. You are cordially invited to participate in the world's leading game about the Makushita division. It's also the world's only game about this spectacular division, so you enjoy two benefits for the price of none. The Nagoya Banzuke was created and sent to Doitsuyama, waiting for its upload. Stuff and other stuff can be found at the usual place. http://makushita.sumogames.de/

Invitation for Makushita Game: Nagoya 2023

Final Standings: The winner of this edition had to be decided by tomoe-sen, with Ozeki Ganzohnesushi, M7 chishafuwaku, and M9 Bunbukuchagama vying for the title. All three had Onosato on first bracket, but on second bracket Ganzohnesushi picked 5-2 Ishizaki, defeating his opponents who went with 3-4 Kazekeno. Congrats to Ganzohnesushi! Players in the upper part of the banzuke had an average of 7.60 win points, so in order to determine your actual win/loss record you can start with the win point and subtract half-points. That being said, only five of 15 players got a kachi-koshi. That's bad news for the Ozeki pair of Flohru and Asashosakari who both are kadoban now. Yokozuna Kobashi had his second make-koshi in a row. A third make-koshi in his next participation would be equivalent to expulsion from the top rank. Players ranked M5 or lower had an average of 7.39 points, so your win/loss records on the results page is correctly indicated. Sansho: Shukun-sho: Zannah and Doreikishi were the only players to have Makushita yusho winner Tokihayata in their squad, and as Zannah finished KK and Doreikishi finished MK, the Outstanding Performance Award goes to Zannah! Kanto-sho: this goes to chishafuwaku and Bunbukuchagama (66 wins each) Gino-sho: The Technique Prize goes to Zannah as well (16.32 points). Main points getters were Tokihayate (3.5 points) and Akinoyama (3.00 points). Thanks for playing Makushita Game, and I hope to see many and more of you return in September!
