Sumo Gaming World Championship Daily Updates

Final Standings: After Day 14 I announced an exciting senshuraku, and we were given an exciting finish, both on the real and the virtual dohyo. For large parts of the basho, an epic battle between Frinkanohana and Oyama ensued, with the latter having the upper hand in the second half of the basho. But Oyama did not have a good Day 15. Not only did he lose his final Bench bout (loss of 3.1 Masters points), he also dropped significantly in the standings of Hoshitori Game (minus 5 points) and Paper Oyakata Game (minus 3 points). Across all games, he lost more than 13 points on senshuraku and ended up with 54.05 Masters points. Frinkanohana also did not have the best of days and continued a downward trend (with losses on each day since Day 9). On senshuraku, the Frink lost 3 points in Bench, and 2.6 points in Toto with losses in each. However, on the plus side he showed a 2.5 point increase in the Oracle standings. All this added up to a net loss of 3.31 points for the day. His final tally thus was 56.72 points, so he managed to overtake Oyama again. And still, Frinkanohana will not receive the Green Mawashi. After Day 14, I mentioned two dark horses in the Masters race. While Kachikoshi lost quite a lot on senshuraku, it was Gonzaburow who crashed the party scene! On senshuraku, the Japanese veteran gained 5.5 points in Juryo Game, 4.5 points in Norizo Cup, 3 points in Toto, and 2.5 points in Hoshitori Game. He could even afford to lose a bit in Sumo Game and Salarycap Sumo for a net gain of 8.98 points on senshuraku. And so he ends up with 63.83 points, grabbing the Masters title. Congratulations! Other players of note: Kachikoshi (41.50), Kobashi (38.57), Pandaazuma (37.86), Asapedroryu (35.74), ScreechingOwl (33.61), Andoreasu (31.43). In the World Championship, Pandaazuma ended the basho on a high note and grabs his sixth title. Congrats, you greedy son-of-a-mother! Kaito never really woke up this basho and finished Kyushu with less than 5 points. ScreechingOwl defended 3rd place in the World Championship. Two players had a rather splendid senshuraku and this moved them into the upper half of the Top 10: Norizo gained 7 points on the final day and finishes 4th for the year while Kobashi will be happy with 5th overall (a gain of 11+ points on senshuraku). With the sudden surge of Norizo and Kobashi, Kitakachiyama finished in 6th place overall (down from 4th). Bill continued with his points rally that stretched over the last three days and gained him 27 points in total (8 points on senshuraku) to move from 10th to 7th place for the year. Susanoo finished on a low note (after an excellent start into the basho), lost 8 points on senshuraku and dropped from 7th to 8th overall. The two unsung Kyushu heroes Frinkanohana and Oyama did not win the Green Mawashi but at least managed to stay in the Top 10 (Frinkanohana dropping from 8th to 9th, and Oyama with a dramatic drop from 5th to 10th). Other players in triple digits: 11. Oskahanada (124.95), 12. Gonzaburow (120.53), 13. Bunbukuchagama (119.20), 14. Kakushoyama (110.92), 15. Kajiyanosho (109.29), 16. Kintamayama (105.97), and 17. Asashosakari (105.55). chishafuwaku dropped out of the 100-club on senshuraku; and Konya ga Yamada who sported a 99.99 points score after Day 14, ended up with 99.79 points… Thanks for playing, and see you again next year! More stats about the Masters, and the full year will follow by the end of the week! -

Standings Day 14: In the Masters, we are having an extremely exciting senshuraku. Currently, I would not be a betting man as to who will get the Green Mawashi. Frinkanohana dominated for long stretches of the basho, but Oyama was quite close behind him and even took the lead over the last days. Today, both again lost some points, and as we have two players who improved quite a lot today, we are in for a 4-player decision tomorrow. Going into senshuraku, Oyama (67.30) has the best prospects, but Frinkanohana is not too far behind (60.03), and I would also not write off Gonzaburow (54.85) and Kachikoshi (50.38). Other honorable mentions go to ScreechingOwl (36.75), Asapedroryu (33.10), Hogashi (32.20), and Andoreasu (31.25). Most players on the WC chart are stuck for days and show only little up- or downward movement each day. The only exception today was Bill who gained another 12 points. Pandaazuma will collect another trophy, Kaito will finish second. ScreechingOwl is in a good position to end up in 3rd place. Kitakachiyama overtook Oyama for 4th place. In 6th and 7th place we have the Japanese legends duo of Norizo and Susanoo, and they both have exactly 142.38 points! Frinkanohana drops to 8th, barely keeping Kobashi at bay. Bill cements 10th place. In full disclosure, there are a couple of uncharted players above 100 points: Gonzaburow moved up to 12th place (111.55), Kintamayama is 15th (109.97), Kakushoyama is 17th (107.46), and chishafuwaku is 18th (100.43). And I just noted while writing this that Konya ga Yamada currently has 99.99 points. Will he finish in triple digits? I do not know how my day tomorrow will develop. There is a distinct possibility that I will be away from the computer all day. In that case, you would not read from me again until Monday. Then again, I expect that some games will not have official standings before Monday anyway. If someone wants to do me a great favor, it would be to check the Hoshitori Game standings. They are often meant to show Day 15 standings, but miss some bonus points. Thanks to the person who would be willing to take up that task!! -

Day 13: The races are shaping up. In Oracle, Andoreasu still sports a 5-point lead. In SCS, Oyama was first until yesterday, but without picking any Ozeki he was shifted out of the Top 10 (I have already added some bonus points, different than Golynohana would do). In the Masters, Oyama lost about 22.5 points today. However, Frinkanohana could not really capitalize on this as he also lost more than 16 points today. Oyama now has a small lead over Frinkanohana (70.70 vs. 64.54). Other players north of 30 points are Kachikoshi (41.75), Asapedroryu (38.89), Gonzaburow (37.44), ScreechingOwl (35.94), and Fujisan (30.50). With the downfall of the two Masters masters, ScreechingOwl moves up to 3rd place in the World Championship standings while Oyama drops to 4th. Frinkanohana lost fewer points but fell deeper (from 4th to 7th), giving Norizo and Kitakachiyama a 1-place upward move, respectively. Susanoo overtook Kobashi for 8th, and Bill overtook Oskahanada and Bunbukuchagama to move up to 10th. -

Standings Day 12: There's something gelatinous about the standings. Either you had a knack for particular games and feature way above the rest, or you were dawdling way out of the Masters points. As a consequence, the hectic shift in standings is something we have hardly witnessed at Kyushu Basho. For the Masters, it is still a pretty hot race between Oyama (93.25) and Frinkanohana (80.93). Asapedroryu is a very distant 3rd (40.00), with Kachikoshi (39.67), Gonzaburow (35.22), ScreechingOwl (34.05), and Hogashi (33.25) leaving some imprints on the Masters standings. The World Championship are almost frozen - the most spectacular change is a loss of close to 7 Masters points for Oskahanada. As a consequence, there are not many movements in the coveted ranks: Kobashi overtook Susanoo for 8th place, and Bunbukuchagama overtook Oskanohana for 10th place. -

Standings Day 11: The epic battle between Frinkanohana and Oyama for the Green Mawashi is THE recurring news item this basho. Frinkanohana lost more than 14 points today while Oyama improved by more than 11 points. As a consequence, Oyama (92.67) now leads the Masters standings over Frinkanohana (84.19). This is going to be exciting! Asapedroryu lost a lot of points today but remains in 3rd place (48.40). Notable others are ScreechingOwl (39.21), Flohru (31.94), Hogashi (31.67), and Kachikoshi (30.00). Hardly anything to report in the Worlds as most players on the chart roughly kept their points score. The only exception is the aforementioned good news/bad news combo for Oyama/Frink which also led to them trading places on the chart (Oyama up from 4th to 3rd). -

Standings Day 10: Finally, some regression to the middle has caught up with Frinkanohana, and still he leads with a brilliant 98.29 points. But Oyama has gained more traction and isn't too far behind in the Kyushu Masters standings (81.34). Asapedroryu might be on course for the highest-scoring 3rd place ever (65.88). These three stole so many points from the rest of you that only one other player features in the 30+ points territory (ScreechingOwl at 39.40). In the World Championship, we have a battle for 4th place between ScreechingOwl and Oyama; a battle for 6th place between Norizo, Kitakachiyama, Susanoo, and Kobashi; an a battle for 10th place between Oskahanada, Bill, and Bunbukuchagama. -

Standings after Day 9: What a pity that so few people are going to read this, but we are currently witnessing a number of minor and major miracles. Case in point: according to my projections, Andoreasu currently leads the Oracle standings by 11 points - I have never witnessed such a leading margin before. Let's see whether he can defend this lead to the yusho. The major miracle this basho is of course Frinkanohana. He was at almost 104 points yesterday, and today he decided to defy the concept of regression to the middle, increasing his tally to 109.93. For comparison, it's like a person exactly standing at the North Pole and deciding to simply go further north... Outstanding! His main contender thus far (Oyama) plummeted in the standings, and lost almost 20 points today (68.92). Asapedroryu made some waves (48.30) while Gonzaburow (35.90), Andoreasu (33.33), Hogashi (32.43) and Kachikoshi (32.20) constitute the 30+ club. In the Worlds, it was an off day for five of the six top players (the exception, again, being Frinkanohana). -

Nakabi standings: Bam - what an epic fight between Oyama and Frinkanohana for the Green Mawashi! The Frink had a sensational day on a sensational basho so far, and he now tops the standings with an incredible 103.96 projected point. And I guess that - if the basho were over now - Oyama would set a new record for the highest non-winning score ever (87.50). Six players hover between 30 and 40 points, gazing at the two stars on the November sky: Asapedroryu (37.37), ScreechingOwl (36.70), Susanoo (34.75), Hogashi (34.33), andonishiki (31.28), and Kachikoshi (30.67). In the World Championship, lofty Frinkanohana steals 3rd place from Oyama. Susanoo stays in 5th while ScreechingOwl drops to 6th. Kitakachiyama, Norizo, Kobashi, and Bunbukuchagama round out the Top 10. President Osca is not amused and has asked Elon to hack the unhackable Superbanzuke website. :) -

Day 7 Standings: My nightly update contained a relatively major oopsie - I assigned Oyama's jump to the lead of UDH to Ottotto. In fact, Oyama was in the Masters lead after Day 6 and also already in 5th place for the World Championship. With that out of the way, Oyama improved even more today and now leads the Masters race with a confident 80.60 points. Frinkanohana (61.64) is the only other contender at the moment. Other players in the 30+ range are Pandaazuma (39.12), ScreechingOwl (36.33), Asapedroryu (36.02), and Andoreasu (32.10). The Panda is doing Panda things, and that's why the gap between him and Kaito has become larger than ever. In fact, I think it is safe to say that the question of who gets the trophy has become a bore. There is a more exciting battle for third place. Currently, Oyama has the upper hand over ScreechingOwl and Susanoo (who had quite a disastrous day). -

Sumo Gaming World Championship Daily Updates

Hi there, the graph is finally there! The reason for the Hoshitori Game hiccup was a player who somehow managed to pick an ineligible rikishi, thus interfering with the computation of the standings. Now that this is settled, we have (for now) complete coverage of all Superbanzuke games. Just for completeness, here are the current Top 5 for Salarycap Sumo and the adjusted Top 5 for Oracle: Salarycap Sumo: 1. Susanoo 540 2. Gusoyama 528 3. Oyama 522 4. Hippchek 510 5. Doreikishi 498 Sekitori Oracle: 1. Frinkanohana 621 1. Ruziklao 621 3. Beeftank 619 3. Wamahada 619 3. Kachikoshi 619 In the Kyushu Masters Series, the stellar November campaign for Frinkanohana continues, and he storms into the leading position (73.14). Oyama had a tough day and loses first place (45.92). Susanoo led through the first three days of the basho and now finds himself in third place (40.58). Kachikoshi is the only other player in 30+ points territory (32.00). Pandaazuma rounds out the Top 5 at 27.50 points. The Panda is also poised to win his sixth World Champion title. Second place for Kaito is practically locked in. 2022 World Champion Susanoo is in a comfortable position for 3rd place but should keep up with his strong basho performance. From there on it gets quite volatile. Red hot Frinkanohana jumps into 4th place while ScreechingOwl completes the upper tier of the Top 10. 6th to 12th place are currently separated by less than 10 points, so obviously everything is possible there. Currently within the Top 10 are Bill (6th), reigning champion Oskahanada (7th), Kobashi (8th), 4-time World Champion Norizo (9th), and Bunbukuchagama (10th). Kitakachiyama and Oyama are close behind but out of the Top 10. I only create a new line in the graph when someone new enters the Top 10. That being said, we currently have two players who have always been out of the Top 10 but above 100 points. Hence, Kintamayama (109.57) and Flohru (102.57) are not on the chart. I have no idea whether there will be an update tomorrow. I will be busy all day and might return to my computer way after midnight. I might even be in a state of small to moderate inebriation, so let's see... -

Day 4 Masters: 1. Oyama 68.59 2. Susanoo 61.47 3. Frinkanohana 61.03 4. Andonishiki 34.26 5. Pandaazuma 30.81 Exciting race for the top. It's rare to have three players in 60+ points territory. Meanwhile, Pandaazuma has entered the Top 5, turning the decision about who becomes World Champion into quite a bore. Day 4 World Championship: 1. Pandaazuma 267.03 2. Kaito 226.69 3. Susanoo 188.47 4. Oyama 146.79 5. ScreechingOwl 140.77 -
I think we didn't have this in ages... the Superbanzuke is ready before the basho has started! Thanks to all the gamesmasters for making data available so soon. Enjoy the standings. And enjoy the basho!

Hullo. The Aki Masters are in the bags. Lookee here (permalink). Kitakachiyama won his sixth career Green Mawashi so he is now all-time fifth in that department. With yusho in Oracle and TTT as well as a jun-yusho in Sumo Game he managed to keep Pandaazuma at bay. Andonishiki won his second career shukun-sho (the first one was in 2018) for yusho in Hoshitori Game and Sekitori-Toto. Pandaazuma received the other two sansho. His fourth career gino-sho was awarded for getting close to 20 points in his worse gaming category. Moreover, he also received his 14th career kanto-sho with eight scores among the Top 10. He is now tied in Fighting Spirit Prizes with Flohru. Congratulations to all the winners! Also new: current standings of the World Championships (lookee here). The trophy will be decided between Pandaazuma and Kaito. Lots of players are involved in the fight for the remaining places among the Top 10.

Players gonna play play play play play play... Makushita Game! This is a cordial invitation to take part in the next edition of Makushita Game, one of the nerdiest places in the sumiverse. We even have a banzuke in place (and time), so what keeps you from participating? https://makushita.sumogames.de/

The basho is in the bags, and at the top it was dominated by players from the lower ranks this time. In an incredibly high-scoring tournament, M6 Papayasu emerges victorious. He is followed by M8 Andrasoyamawaka and M13 Holleshoryu. The average score among high-ranking players (down to M4) was 9.63 win points. Therefore, you have to subtract 2 full points from your win point tally and round down half-points. As a consequence, the KK line runs between Itachiyama (KK) and Konya ga Yamada (MK). The lower-ranked players also managed an impressive 9.03 win points on average. Therefore, you have to subtract 1.5 win points from your tally and round down half-points. shimodahito is the last with KK, Kitanoyama the first with MK. Sansho: Only Andrasoyamawaka and Wamahada picked yusho winner Hatsuyama, and as Wamahada went MK, the shukun-sho goes to the Hungarian player. Papayasu scored 69 wins and easily wins the kanto-sho in addition to the yusho. Holleshoryu picks up the gino-sho with 16.86 points. His key contributor is Asakoki who netted him 6(!) full points. Thanks for playing! I hope to see many returns in November. :)

Hi there, I will not be able to do anything sumo-related until Saturday, so I decided to publish a non-complete Aki Superbanzuke right now and before my absence. 18 out of 19 SB games had an Aki Banzuke ready. Interestingly, the one missing out is Chaingaing. That's kind of weird as the ranking for that game is usually and automatically created and uploaded at the end of the previous basho. I have contacted Doitsuyama about it; and I also PM'ed Andoreasu (he hasn't visited the forum since). So the Aki Superbanzuke is based on the Nagoya rankings for Chaingang (with a 20% demerit) but on the Aki rankings of all other games. See if, where, and how you stand at this place (permalink). Enjoy the basho!!
-
I tried to make the Superbanzuke site more "modern" a few years ago, but my utter lack of both design skills and HTML skills prevent me from having something better to offer. If someone, anyone with HTML skills and interest in redesigning the site would contact me, I'd be more than happy.

Good local time! Results for the 2024 Nagoya Masters (permalink) are in. Japanese gaming legend Norizo wins his 12th career Green Mawashi, his first triumph in more than four years with strong 70 points. Among his many accomplishments in Nagoya 2024 were three yusho (Odd Sumo, Sekitori Oracle, Sekitori Quad) and a double-digit finish in Tippspiel. Terarno wins his second career shukun-sho for finishing 2nd with strong 57.00 points and two yusho (Tippspiel, Juryo Game). Moreover, Terarno wins his first ever gino-sho with 25 points in his worse gaming category. The sansho are rounded out by the fifth career kanto-sho for Oskahanada. He finished among the Top 10 in seven different games (for a meager points total below 20). Congratulations to all the winners! Also uploaded are the Standings of the 2024 World Championships. Kaito and Pandaazuma look like they are battling it out for the trophy this year. ScreechingOwl, Susanoo, Norizo, and Oskahanada are in triple digits but trail considerably behind the leading duet.

I apologize deeply and profusely to Kajiyanosho and will reflect on my past, present, and future mistakes!

Much to no one's surprise, we'll have another round of Makushita Game running this July. The banzuke was carefully crafted by me, and even more carefully sent to Doitsuyama. Alas, it is not uploaded yet. If you think you can play then you can play at https://makushita.sumogames.de/ That would make me happy.

Invitation for Makushita Game Nagoya 2024
Randomitsuki replied to Randomitsuki's topic in Sumo Games
Another basho is in the bags, and another yusho is in Oskanohana's particular bag. After winning Natsu Basho as well, he will be promoted to Yokozuna on the Aki Banzuke, congrats! Over long stretches of the basho, he battled it out with Asashosakari but managed to keep him at bay. In the upper group (down to M4), scoring was very high, so in order to see your final W/L record you have to subtract 1.5 points from your score and round down half-points. This means that the KK/MK line runs between Ozeki Flohru and kadoban-Ozeki Ganzohnesushi. And that of course means that Ganzohnesushi will be demoted to Sekiwake with a chance for re-promotion. In the lower group (M5 downwards), scoring was much more modest. Here, you have to add 0.5 points to your win point tally and round down half-points. The KK/MK line runs between shin-deshi Kajiyanosho and Wamahada. The shukun-sho scoring was interesting as there were two players who picked yusho winner Daiseizan, but they both went MK. So the Outstanding Performance Award goes to Terukaze for picking the 6-1 trio of Kiryuko, Aonishiki, and Kurohimeyama. The kanto-sho goes to Asashosakari (70 wins) And Terukaze also wins the gino-sho (19.50 points). His main contributors to the Technique Prize were Chiyomaru (4 points), Obara, Onojo, and Kurohimeyama (2 points apiece). Thanks for playing! I am hoping for many happy returns in Aki! :)
