Well, what can I say..- a very low scoring affair. The winner won with 50 points, which I am told by Andoreasu who runs the game is the lowest score since the advent of the wheel since we had 42 rikishi in Makuuchi. Winner? Sakura, for the second time. Congratulations!! The biggest surprise ever was the new players. The numbers were overwhelming- 16 new players of 121 in all, which is about 7 and a half percent. 8 of them kachikoshi, 7 of them with 9 wins or more. I am blown away. This one was a total crap shoot-I don't get the logic behind a lot, but who am I to question the powers that be? Milestones: Heriokuno -100th basho!!! Torafujii - 80th basho Mmikasazuma - 80th basho Gonzaburow- 80th basho Akinomaki -70th basho Pandaazuma- 60 bashos Thank you all for playing and making me a very happy human. Thanks as usual to Andoreasu and Doitsuyama for making all this goodness possible.. And now, on with the Ba-show!! See how you did..

The rikishi-kai decided to formally ask the Kyokai to reinstate degeiko today. After the special short course regarding the virus was held today for 1000 kyokai members, the sekitori remained and convened . They are proposing to use the KKan dohyo and places similar where there is a lot of space for degeiko purposes, or to allow only sekitori to practice at the various heyas, cutting down on the crowd. Kotoshougiku was elected to suggest this to the Kyokai on September 1st. "I think this has a sizable influence on our performance. I'd like for our thoughts to be conveyed. It's important to make ourselves heard on this issue, " said Kakuryuu, head of the rikishi-kai.

It's been a while-I asked the same question.
  9. Wakamatsu has the "Oyakata feel", something I can't explain, just that feel. ex- Asasekiryuu? Less. I'm all in on Asanowaka.

Oh, it's definitely neck pains. I will now be moving back to the heya and will receive a 40% salary cut for the next six months. My oyakata will be taking orders at the local McDonalds for four months as well.

Chronic headaches.neck injury. "He wants to concentrate on healing. He's taking this seriously. I think he was having difficulties dealing with it," said Kise Oyakata. He is searching for a hospital that deals with this sort of illness. No date set for his danpatsushiki. He is the brother of heyamate Juryo Churanoumi.
  14. Due to popular demand, this can be the one..
  15. Wakamatsu (ex-Asanowaka) perhaps? He seems to be a good candidate, no?

Preparations of the Y/O- Aki 2020

"I want to get the yusho in Aki, " declared Asanoyama today. Last basho he screwed up his yusho chances towards the end and lost on days 13 and 14 to lower rankers.. "After getting double digit wins that was an important stage, but losing two in a row just showed how weak I was.." he explained. His Oyakata Takasago will turn 65 in December and will retire from the Kyokai. "It would be befitting if I win back to back yushos and get promoted, just in time for my oyakata's retirement.. Not much time left. Not much time. I will be repeating that relentlessly to myself,"said Asanoyama.

Takakeishou is feeling much better and his injured knee seems to have healed. "My injured knee has gotten much better and I have a sense of anticipation inside me," he said. He has resumed doing butsugari. "I went kyujo regretfully last basho and I want to do well.. I don't strut around when I get good results and don't get down in the doldrums when they aren't that good. I just want to give it my all this year," he added. He has not won the yusho in his six bashos as Ozeki. "It might be bad form to say this, but I do want to get a yusho.." he summed.

Degeiko before the next basho remains prohibited, says Shibatayama, and will relay this to the oyakata at the toshiyorikai on the 31st. He said going for degeiko warrants a PCR test and there is not time for that. The rikishi had asked for the ban to be lifted, but to no avail.

Shibatayama Oyakata regarding degeiko: "We can't have everyone going around willy nilly. We need to make concrete decisions on this subject. Nothing has been decided about this yet at this time." He plans to discuss this with "specialists" and make a decision soon. "There's a difference between going for degeiko and not going for degeiko, " said Kakuryuu earlier. Hakkaku rijicho joins the discussion, renewing the guidelines that all heya must follow regarding coping with the virus. "Coughing and sneezing etc. fills the air and can cause infection. That's why ventilation is essential. Heyas with no windows-not good. Air condition, air circulator, electric fans, opening of windows-keep the air flowing!" One member of the Kyokai was tested after a family member was diagnosed and another one was tested because he had a fever. Both were found negative and will be retested tomorrow. "Not only members of the Kyokai, but their families are cooperating to help us remain virus free, " summed Shibatayama PR chief.

  23. Why? The Japanese site has a few, so why? And you're not even at the venue.. What possible reason could they have?

Oh sure, no problems. I make a lot of mistakes with these and am the first to admit them, but this one I was pretty sure of as it happens too often lately.

    Shikihide beya troubles

Nine (of 19) Shikihide beya rikishi ran way from the heya today, citing the okamisan's strict behavior. They sent a message notifying the Kyokai, and the Kyokai will call in the sides to hear their story today and try to reach some sort of settlement. They took refuge at a Karaoke place near the heya. "Moral harassment" is what they are claiming. The Oyakata himself (Ex-Kitazakura) has been ill since the beginning of the year and was out of the last basho so he could not oversee the training or give any guidance. Instead, the Okamisan was training them (???) but the rikishi lost their patience and ran away from the heya. The rikishi were complaining that the okamisan joined the heya's chat group and was reading everything and giving out instructions and when someone was slow to respond he was reprimanded. Using of electrical appliances was allowed only by her. When rikishi ordered stuff online and the stuff arrived or when stuff arrived from their parents, she opened all the parcels and took photos of them, then posted them in the group chat. "It's an invasion of privacy!" they cried out. She used to periodically hold surprise checks of the contents of their lockers as well. When anyone attempted to challenge her deeds she threatened to throw them out of the heya or report them to the Kyokai. After the basho was over she demanded the rikishi write her a "letter of reflection." It seems the okamisan was trying in her own way to be in charge, but was not accepted by the rikishi and eventually it led to a mass walkout instead. The rikishi were training in earnest and longing for the Oyakata, but he is still ill, and could not control her, some say.
