Says every sumo wrestler with an injury, ever, even if forced to go kyujo by the injury. But don't worry. He just needs to gambarize more. :)

Ha! Chiyotairyu ain't Chiyotairyu. At least as long as the marriage is looming. Just jump on the Jokoryu Homasho Goeidou Endo train, already!

Thanks Kinta! You're in luck! We did! And we called it Endo!

I thought Endo was a bit surprised by how quickly Masunoyama came at him. For the first couple seconds after the charge, it looked like it was going to be all Masunoyama, but Endo recovered well to win that.

I had an ad when the stream started, but nothing since. Are other people having ads inserted into the stream, as well?

I was just looking into options in case NSK didn't do the live stream again. I wasn't aware of TV Japan, but that looks like a better option than NHK. My wife and I don't have cable, so we need to spring for a regular cable package first, then add the extras... But I'm not going without my sumo!

I do hope that they continue the full coverage. I had looked into getting NHK coverage in Vancouver here, and it requires a full cable package before buying the NHK channel as a specialty option, and the whole setup would run about $120 a month...

    Chiyotairyu Gets Married

Does he really want to get married? He probably could have coasted into sanyaku if he'd picked up just a second win in the second week... (In jonokuchi...)

Either she's standing on a higher step, or she's bloody tall! I didn't recall seeing - was it ever established what injury Hakuho had?

Mozart's Requiem! It's angry Mozart! Or at least intense Mozart.

Fact: every third building in Canada is named for Glenn Gould. I love his interpretations of Bach.

That really depends on which Bach we're talking about. But I think arguing that classical music is the only 'great' music is a bit of an untenable stance. Bela Bartok's Ostinato is practically jazz, Stan Kenton's La Suertos de los Tontos and Malaguena (or the entire Graettinger City of Glass concept album) cross back the other way. And where does George Gershwin get to sit? :-) I have an anecdote to relate. I was doing a big band concert. There was a completely rhythmless guy in the front tapping enthusiastically on 1 and 3. We saxophones were having a good laugh about his cluelessness and pointed it out to our band leader, who was a professional composer and band leader. The band leader turned to us and said, "He obviously loves music and he paid to come see us. I don't care when he wants to tap. I just wish there were more of him." In that vein, I'd rather hear more suggestions about great music that people love, not aruge about which music is 'best'. To kick that off... Gerswhin's Rhapsody in Blue performed by one of my all-time favorite jazz and classical pianists. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ispKtW3fxkk

I tend to prefer the late baroque period and the Russian Romantics, with Vivaldi and Rachmaninoff being my two favorites of the respective genres. The Seattle Metropolitan Opera puts on a 3 or 4 day showing of Wagner's Ring Cycle. I'm not sure they do it every year, but I'd love to make it down sometime. It would be epic.
