Looks like Terunofuji stole your very comment from this thread earlier!

A yusho is a yusho is a yusho! I am happy!

Is it too early to jinx Asanoyama's yusho?

- Y - Hoshoryu O Wakatakakage I dont think that Terunifuji survives banzuke-wise the next year. And Takakeisho will lose this Ozeki rank somewhen in 2023.

What was the context of the scolding?

It should be considered yokozuna-unworthy to fall for a henka.

I do not know it, but I assume that the revenue the NHK made from Kisenosato surpasses that from Terunofuji.

Natsu 2022 Discussion Thread - here be spoilers
Tsubame replied to Benihana's topic in Honbasho Talk
So, basically you are predicting a mediocre second week for Mitakeumi and a possible yusho by Takakeisho or Shodai, right? -
And for something completely different: I am glad for Tochinoshins kachikochi! He will stay a little bit longer in Makuuchi!
-
Interesting thought. That never occured to me.

Why not? Why is this surprising? Lower levels -> alot of training for basics and technique higher levels -> getting weight So he entered the sumo world and had a lot to train in the frist place...
-
I do not think they need a yokozuna. It is just a neat way to tie sumo tradition with olympic traditions. But it is not mandatory. And on the other hand it is still possible for one of the ozeki to score two yushos (or equivivalent ) before the olympic games (granted that there will be a tournament in may) and that the olympic yokozuna questions will be solved naturally.

Speculating Hakuho's future (split from Corona thread)
Tsubame replied to Kintamayama's topic in Ozumo Discussions
I cannot see Hakuho subordinate himself as an oyakata. At least not for a long period of time. My bet/guess would be: He will stay as Hakuho oyakata for 1-3 years leading his Hakuho stable, but as Kintamayama wrote, will soon leave for the bigger money in the free economy. -

Non-K-November basho 2020 Discussion (spoiler space)
Tsubame replied to Akinomaki's topic in Honbasho Talk
You forgot Terunofuji on the list. I am curious... Am I the only one NOT seeing Terunofuji returning to ozeki? He is now in a (banzuke) position, where he has to fight the best sumotori on a regular basis. And his fightig style relys heavily on strength and force. I cannot see his body maintaining top performance over three bashos for 33 wins or even more. Is he someone to recon with for a yusho? Definitely, yes. But returning to ozeki-hood? No. I just cannot see this. -
This IS the July 2020 Basho thread!! Spoilers!!

He has shown this strange non-squat tachi-ai for a couple of days now. -
Promotion/Demotion and Yusho discussion Haru 2020
Tsubame replied to Asashosakari's topic in Honbasho Talk
Only one of the seven others didn't made it to yokozuna. So, quite a nice company he is joining there. #FiringUpTheHopes -
When do we start talking about Aoiyamas yusho and the beginning of his ozeki run? #justkidding

As the title already said: Could there be a new third Hakuho-style dohyo-iri? As Hakuho is already slightly altering his original picked Shiranui-style, I wonder now for quite some time, if it is possible that he will intruduce an unique dohyo-iri style someday?! As far as I know there should be no rule that explicitly forbits a new style, or am I wrong? And as he is where he is, I can totally imagine that he wants to have his very own style. So I am curious: what are you thinking about this matter?!

OoC: Could there be a Hakuho-style dohyo-iri?
Tsubame replied to Tsubame's topic in Ozumo Discussions
Not exactly, as he doesn't raise his hand up in the air in the second part of the dohoyo-iri before the last "stomp", but rather hold his kesho-mawashi with both hands. It is only a marginal variation, a henka, but this observation brought me this this question. As compared to Wakanohana III, you will not see this position or part at the end: -
