a healthy KK in the meat-grinder should get you something after all ... i am doing a study on Takayasu (i still cannot figure out with is this guy winning so many ... he is one of the best at absorbing impact and he likes his bouts lengthy but is this the answer? i suppose not ....) (btw ... i am not doing any "study" ... i am just watching his bouts online) (Spooky TV program...)

Kise should get himself to yokozuna any way possible just to avoid the continuation of this. impressive streak you found there. .... Shogun for Yokozuna then !!!!

about Chiyo.... i have never seen an oshi-guy to try so many times to get the right uwate grip. If this was the only game-plan he thought of ,after the initial oshi attempt didn't work, then i am not very confident about his sanyaku foundations. He is not even Chiyotaikai after all :-P And Shohozan gave a nice ( eehhh ... i meant ... inexcusable... ) slap on the Aoiyama's belly after he got him out. He didn't look happy after the heka Aoi tried to pull

that's Hayateumi doing the frog-iotoshi to ....... i am just completely guessing .... Buyuzan. EDIT: yeah ... it is Buyuzan. And this was Kyushu 2004. I guess the simple kimarite (hatakikomi) doesn't do justice to the brilliance.

Leaderboard Day 14 Nagoya Basho 2013

4 wins behind Endo and a jun-yusho in Juryo .... weird. it this stands after tomorrow, i wonder how many times this occurred in the second tier.
  10. in my opinion the ideal weight for sumo is around 150kg (sometimes even 140kg) with lots of muscles and a healthy belly in the mix. examples that spring to mind are Asashoryu, Tochiazuma, Wakanosato, Kasugao, almost Kaiho and Shohozan and a new guy ... Endo.

if i was Hakuho i would slap the pout out of Kise's face after his shit on the shikiri line. Just put your fricking hands on the ground when you look like you are about to .... i am a fricking yokozuna after all. But i would lose at the end just like him, because this would be the first time in many bouts that i would lose my temper. and if i was Kise i would be afraid the next time i would face Hakuho ;-)

nice query you got there ... at least Kokkai's loss to Kasugao was definitely not a fluke. That was the plan from the start. A tsuppari-ist against a kotenage-ist ..... job done. I always loved the fact that Kasugao used kotenage for the 17.5% of his total wins when the rest of the field uses it for the 1.6% of theirs. (of course the numbers are from the DB but the image of Kasugao delivering the kotenage all over the place is still in my head, and this is why i still consider him of my favourites and a true representative of the rikishi that "could have been but never was") so .. yeah ... another useless post by me (In jonokuchi...)

Leaderboard Day 13 Nagoya Basho 2013

historic day then .... one that will be mentioned with nostalgia in sumo forums in 30 years time. (Typing at computer...) (disclaimer: this post is not sarcastic or anything.... it's mostly worthless, but you know me .....)

    Lower-division Torikumi Day 14 Nagoya Basho 2013

If Kiyomusashi manages to turn a 0-3 to a 4-3 by tomorrow i promise i will stop bitching about the talent that Musashimaru is gathering in his new heya. (at least for a few months .... i shouldn't make promises that i cannot keep) Kiyo is doing terrible sumo but lots of rikishi with these qualities happen to get KKs all over the place. As for Tosayutaka .... a win is needed in order to be in a realistic distance from Juryo for Aki. Along with Endo's bout this one is my most anticipated one for day 14. (ok ... Hakuho vs Kise and Shohozan vs Oshu are for far behind)

    Games Discussion

i would like to have something positive to add to this topic but i am plain terrible in sumo gaming for one more basho. Sandanme Game (middle of the table ... my "scientific" method of picking rikishi what their shikona starts with the letter "H" didn't work. .... really ... that WAS my method ... (In jonokuchi...)) Makushita Game (bottom of the table) Pick the Yusho Winners (bottom or near the bottom) Salary Cup (the depths of picking HF as your 10 and Tochinoshin somewhere in there) 21 (middle of the table) in Seki-Quad and Toto i am still fighting for a KK.

being honest i am hoping for this ... Musashimaru's rikishi should start picking up wins after all ... (also .... Go Kiyomusashi !!!)

    Pre-bout rituals by rikishi

maybe his new shikona for Makuuchi (is it possible to get there with a 14-1 yusho?) will be 無限の儀式 (Mugenogishiki). (this feeble attempt to create a shikona was financed by "Google-Translate Productions")

    Nagoya Basho 2013 discussion thread

I think Aoiyama has more chances for the yusho than Kise, schedule-wise. but i also think that Hakuho can beat both Oshu and Kise even with an injured right side. He just has to stop compensating for his "lack" of training with uwate or shitate throws..
  24. and i hope he was not injured today. if the reports are correct (and why wouldn't they) It would be interesting to see him fight seriously or at least semi-seriously in a naadam.

    Persistence Watch - 2013 edition

indeed he was. i'll say it once more ... Hakkaku beya needs to start recruiting more talent. Not just new rikishi. Sometimes i wonder what is the level of keiko that goes on there ... i am not a happy fan.
