My Oracle hopes are pinned on one unlikely bout: Daiamami vs Midorifuji. If Amami loses, no chance of top three. If he wins, a fair chance of top three. Gulp. And I picked Midori in Toto.

Lolol. With three kyujo rikishi and no Terunofuji in my team I have been resigned to a losing record for over a week. Actually getting 7 was my target. But I am happy for you. You should celebrate. I hear Juryo is very nice in September...

I had a disastrous day on the pre-basho front. UDH was a nightmare. All the idiots at the top of my order won and it may well cost me a possible yusho. Oracle also was a nightmare where once again almost all the bouts went the wrong way, not 50-50 as usual. I am now playing catch-up there. The Kotoyuki withdrawal was just a bit more comedy as I was one of the few people to have predicted 7 for him, which he was easily on course for. Yet another swing of two points against me. I can still salvage things but will need luck tomorrow. The best thing today was reaching 8 in SG for me. It's the only game that still winds me up when I lose! lol. I want to stay at Yokozuna as long as I can and hopefully break Doitsuyama's record. It's not easy in that game - way too much luck involved. Fascinating game, as both skill and luck are required in quite large measures. The green mawashi looks a close one between me, Flohru and Norizo. Will depend massively on how things go tomorrow. My money is on Flohru to swing it.

Gary is one of those just one behind the leader but it's all over as he has a big score. Not sure why the SG guy didn't stick the winner up against an actual top player today...suspect he forgot. I would like a crack myself but they never give those lads to the yokozuna, sadly. Congrats to Rup and Unko on their KKs today. Jan, Owl and Steve all won to try and finish with KKs themselves tomorrow. Good luck! Panda also went KK and he needed it as he was 'soft' kadoban. That annoyance has now been erased. Chisha downed Mark and he faces Reeeen in a straight death match tomorrow for the Juryo yusho. Best of luck! Promotions/demotions: Stefan is guaranteed shin-sekiwake in September and is even on an ozeki run of sorts. A win tomorrow would help greatly. Gary is in the same situation. Chankoyama needs to be careful. She may be safe with four wins but it will be close. A win tomorrow would be advisable. Chisha looks a certainty to return to Makuuchi even if he loses tomorrow. Unko might even get lucky if he wins. Chelseayama will be shin Juryo if he wins tomorrow! Day 14: Rank Record Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? You misunderstand me (as usual). I meant no disrespect. I meant that had the withdrawals not happened, I would indeed be miles ahead. I didn't mean: 'I am better than everyone else so I should be winning easily'. I know for a fact that winning is not easy as I have only won it six times out of the dozens of times I have played.

Stefan and Gary won again while the leader lost so they are still mathematically in it but they'll need at least one of the two leaders to lose tomorrow. Stefan in particular has a decent chance by virtue of his strong scoring. Mark went KK today. Kaito's unwanted streak continues. Chisha is our best chance of glory as he now shares the lead in Juryo. And take a bow Chelseayama for an excellent 10-pointer. Day 13: Rank Record Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? Picked well today. Second in Toto and only two bouts wrong in Makuuchi. I still somehow managed to lose SG on the second tie-break rule. A complete sickener. I suspect my opponent had one of the best line-ups of the day. Not the kind of luck I need when I'm going for KK. Even the pre-bashos went well today at last. With a decent weekend I could get a very hefty haul of Masters points.

Oracle Day 13: Leader: Pandaazuma, Choshu-Yuki Norizo -2 Jejima -9 ScreechingOwl -16 Looks like Ganzo and Chisha are up there too but I haven't checked in detail. I should be winning this easily but every single withdrawal through injury has gone against me so it is closer than I expected. Still have a decent chance of yusho though.

Since that ludicrous day 10 things have become a bit more predictable so my results have improved greatly. Still feel it is a bit of a mess though and am not happy with my performance at all. Green Mawashi is still a possibility but I haven't really looked at the other contenders. Quite a few players are doing well this time as far as I can see. Excellent (Yusho or jun yusho potential): Odd Sumo, Oracle, UDH Good: Tipspiel, Juryo Game, Rotosumo, Toto Small change potential: Norizo Cup (especially if Terunofuji wins the yusho), Sumo Game Absolute bobbins: ISP, TTT, Quad, Bench, Hoshitori, Bingo, PO, Salarycap Points already secured: Chain (3) and GTB (2)

Panda moves to within one win of KK. Stefan, Gary, Ganzo, Chisha and Ama all secured theirs. Quite a few losses on the leader board in Makuuchi today so Stefan, Gary and Ganzo are not out of the race. Chisha has a real chance in Juryo too...just one win behind the sole leader. Kaito may have blown his chance in Makushita as he is now on a streak of four losses. Day 12: Rank Record Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? A horror day in a horror basho. My system isn't built to handle situations like the last several days, where basically you would do better tossing a coin. It also speaks to the truly abysmal quality of sumo right now that the likes of Kotoshogiku and Tokushoryu have seven and six wins respectively. That's how bad it is! I was watching some bouts from the nineties the other day and the difference in quality is truly embarrassing. Only Asanoyama, Hakuho and Kakuryu would have been able to survive at that level. It's listless crap with almost no intensity or spirit, and therefore far less predictable, making the games simply annoying because skill in the main ceases to be the primary factor. Needless to say, I lost every single game in this comedy show today and even managed a zero in Tipspiel to put the icing on the cake. My pre-basho games also went right down the bog as most of my picks have turned to dogshit as well. I think I'll just chuck darts tomorrow for my picks - in this environment, I reckon I'd do better. No way I'll get 8 in SG either - already resigned to hard kadoban in September. I'm hoping the gods of luck glance my way for the final third.
