Lottery day in a lottery basho. The kind of day I always get massacred on. Somehow managed to sneak wins in Toto and Quad but it was woeful elsewhere. SG is really amazing - I absolutely don't deserve to be 6-4 and have been awful but am being blessed with a good-luck basho. I just want 8 at this stage and hopefully some consistency to return to the dohyo before this nonsense shakes me out of the rank. Awful day for the pre-basho games as well so it was a step back. But there are always days like this. Three more decent days and I may be OK for some Masters points.

Had a quick look at the Masters for those over 100 points in the World Championships. I added Ganzo as well as he is having a good basho. Will add Kaito as well next update as he seems to be going well overall too. I have my own method of projection for the Masters. At this stage, it should be seen more as relative strength but it has proved pretty accurate in the past from day 11 or 12 onwards. Current projected Masters totals: 1. Ganzo 76 2. Flohru 72 3. Norizo 48 4. Panda 40 5. Jejima 37 6. Andoreasu 18 7. Kishikaisei 12 The Norizo, Panda and Ganzo scores include projections for Oracle. I am only tracking those this basho (along with DeRosa and C-Y). I will post those projections later if I have time. So looking at this we could have an exciting battle for the title in November. Still early days, though.

Things continue to improve on multiple fronts as most of my picks continue their strong recoveries. Now looking promising in the Japanese games along with Salarycap, Oracle and Rotosumo. Hoshitori looks a step too far and Juryo Game is obviously a write-off with the Ishiura screw-up. Some of the dailies are OK too: ISP, TTT, SG, Toto, even Bench and Quad are looking better. I missed a massive bet by just one loss in Odd Sumo as well. Damn you, Chiyotairyu. I see Jezz got a big score though - expected someone to go 100+ today - it was ripe for it. A strong second week is all I need and I will be back in business.

Chankoyama won the battle of the yusho hopefuls with a nice turnaround win. Panda and Stefan are one win back with Chisha. Not much else to report, but there is still quite a bit of bad luck flying around. Day 8: Rank Record Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? Odd basho. After an awful start my pre-basho lads are starting to show some promise so I'm starting to approach the top ten in several pre-basho games. The dailies are poor but I am sort of in contention in Toto, SG, TTT and ISP. Nothing spectacular though. A strong second week and I might grab a decent haul of points.

Out of interest (couldn't find the answer in the rules)... Ishiura is back from tomorrow. He was in my original line-up as I was too busy to change it before the deadline and Enho came in to replace him. From tomorrow, will Ishiura go back in or will it be Enho for the whole basho?

You are probably right. Had no time to check others. Norizo is leading in quite a few games though and is the overall leader by quite a way so I see him as the favourite. I hope Flohru does well too, of course. He has had a good year.
  16. Pandaazuma

Mukade Beya (Formerly STI) Sumo Gaming Banter Thread

My picking is improving a bit but it's a pretty mediocre situation right now after the first third. Will need some serious improvement to keep up with Norizo, who is going well in several games and is surely now the odds on favourite to win the title this year. I wouldn't mind that as I have had a poor year for various reasons while Norizo has been strong and consistent. But I'm not giving up yet. I'm doomed to a poor basho here so I'll try to make the best of it and go for a blowout in November. Operation damage limitation right now. I am out of most games but still have slight chances in the three Japanese games and Oracle for Masters points on the pre-basho scene and a few dailies could be OK if I have a decent second week.

Absolute comedy basho so far. Coin toss level. Managed a pathetic 4-3 win in SG but I might as well be picking blindfolded. Annoying loss in Toto. Managed a decent win in Quad but am annoyed at my Odd Sumo loss today. Most of my games are total write-offs already but I am still in one or two as long as a couple of my picks turn things around. The dailies look bleak at this stage but that can be turned around as well. A sigh of relief on seeing my Chain pick lose. My stupidity ended up costing nothing. Juryo Game is still annoyingly good. I am desperate to finish outside the top ten with Shimanoumi in the line-up. Hoshitori is actually pretty good despite my 'mistake'. Actually leaving Okinoumi and Endo out has been a good idea so far.

Lol...this basho is already a total and utter write-off. My system requires at least SOME consistency from the rikishi but there is none. I may have to go back to old-fashioned picking from instinct this time. I might as well hand the World Championships to Norizo - ANOTHER mistake has come to light. I left Endo and Okinoumi out of my Hoshitori line-up and I have no idea why. This may end up actually being a blessing, of course, but I missed Endo's ginboshi points there. And naturally I am 'through' to day three in Chain. Bet I 'win' it! Oh, and I am thanking the sumo gods I am not kadoban in SG because I have zero chance of getting 8 wins in this kind of chaotic environment. I predict 4-11. My target this basho is ONE Masters point! ;)
