    Sumo Reference Updates

Does the sumo reference database have a list of the NHK rikishi ID for each of their individual pages, or does anyone know where such a list may exist?

    New recruits for Haru 2015

Anyone notice how Kotoanbai snuck in as an "Indonesian" as listed on the Banzuke - no "waiting period" basho for him. His visa stuff must have already been in order.

    Oyakata Car accident

Kimigahama Oyakata (former Maegashira Hochiyama)'s facebook status indicated he was in a car accident and admitted to the intensive care ward of the hospital. Got me wondering a little about the rules of Oyakata and driving. Do they face similar restrictions?

    Futagoyama-beya coming back

The kabu is owned by former Ozeki Miyabiyama. If he were borrowing it, he would be unable to open his own stable. It seems that Taka already sold both of the shares that had been linked to him (Yamahibiki and Futagoyama).

    Nishonoseki beya is back

it seems that Nishonoseki Oyakata (former Tamarikido)!moved to Matsugane beya and switched his stock with Matsugane Oyakata. Thus, Nishonoseki beya will be reopened. The new Nishonoseki promises to restore the ichimon to glory as soon as possible.

yahoo sports Japan reporting that Asahiyama-beya will close after the Hatsu basho and the wrestlers will move to the Isegahama-beya.

Homasho intai conference pics full load

He is listed as owning the kabu on the NSK website, above such borrowers as Nakamura Oyakata.

    Nishonoseki beya is back

Also, something I lost in the shuffle is that Hanaregoma Oyakata (moto sekiwake Tamanoshima) has moved to Matzgane (to be Nishonoseki) as well. So two Oyakata left Kataonami. http://www.sumo.or.jp/kyokai/information?id=68

    Kyushu 2014 Banzuke

What are the links used for the 2ch discussions on sumo?

    Lower-division Torikumi Day 13 Aki Basho 2014

A Sandanme playoff is clinched since all of the co-leaders are from Kise-beya. There is a small chance it could involve 6-1 wrestlers should the Kise boys all fall tomorrow.

    Preparation of the masses

Potential Banzuke spoiler in the Tomozuna pictures. On their Board there is a Kainishiki. I think we have our first name change for the July tournament - as it is in the place where Kainokura should have been.

    Sumo Reference Updates

You may have noticed the kanji for Kise-beya's Tsurubayashi is written in hiragana on the Kyokai's site. I note that the Sumo Reference Database uses the traditional Tsuru character in absence of having the proper one. I was unsure what the proper character was until I saw it on the NHK broadcast of the upper makushita division results on either day 14 or 15. It is "靏". A rain crane! Or should it be crain? I see why my wife says I have no good sense of humor. Is that something that can be amended in the database?

    Haru 2014 Banzuke

I see the sumo reference site has not been updated with the latest full banzuke. Does anyone else have a machine readable one that they could refer me to?
  15. Probably Homasho - that was my guess. Sad day for me with Hochiyama retiring. However, he does get to stay around - so that makes me happy. Better really obtain a share, though!

    Adopt a Jonidan Game

Huzzah for my adopted Hochiyama! I am willing to give it another go! It has been 13 years, after all! My poor Hochiyama has fallen on some hard times as of late!
  17. Kotoshogiku has acquired the Hidenoyama share. It is currently being leased by Kotonishiki.

    Another one to close

Read a news article that Magaki beta will close in a few months and the oyakata and all wrestlers and other staff to move into Isegahama. He will be leaving the Takanohana group...
  19. Any word on what will happen to Hanaregoma-beya? We already know what happened to Nakamura and what will happen to Musashigawa - but Hanaregoma's retirement is right behind them and he still operates a stable.
  20. Ajigawa Oyakata (former Maegashira Shikishima) has switched to the recently vacated Urakaze share. The hierarchy page of the Kyokai website has not been updated so I am not sure if he acquired it outright or is still borrowing a kabu. It will also be his seventh switch in kabu (including the time he was jun-toshiyori).
  21. It has been moved to Dewanoumi Ichimon according to the NSK website today. As an aside, there are now 6 free kabu.
  22. The Tatsutagawa share is now free according to the Kyokai site. Must be that former komusibi Yutakayama retired. Guessing he hit the age of 65.

    Kyushu 2012 Full Banzuke

It still has problems. I have been unable to access it for a few days now.
  24. Looks like Sendagawa name is officially owned by Touki (per the order of shares on the Kyokai website). Touki is no longer listed among the other borrowers. http://www.sumo.or.jp/kyokai/goannai/0012/index.html

    New Recruits for Kyushu 2011

Didn't he become Taikai after he was Terasaka and before going gai? Indeed he was Taikai - at least according to the NSK website: http://sumo.goo.ne.jp/ozumo_meikan/rikishi...kishi_3342.html
