    Aki 2011 - Absent/Withdraw/Return

Thanks again Fukurou. I got lucky ! (Cheers...)
  3. I don't know whether somebody noticed, but I think there are computer glitches with the Sumo game. As I don't know who is the sponsor (maintains) this game I'll write my questions and concerns in the Forum. Something is happening (or better said: not happening right) in the results of the bouts during Day 1. How I noticed the errors: According to the real bouts I had won 8 and my opponent - 3. The published results were showing that I lost the bout 6-3. :-( When I checked: many real winners were counted as losers, and vice-versa. I checked many, many other bouts of Sumo Game players, and all of them, which I have checked, were wrong. Here are few examples. Starting from the top of the Results Table: Randomitsuki won his bout 8-7, but the official result is that he is a looser 6-7??? Doitsuyama won 8-7, but the official result is that he is a looser 5-8??? Meyeryu won 8-7, but the official result is that he is a looser 6-7??? and our computer guru and life-saver last basho Kofuji won 7-6, and he is posted as a 9-9 loser ??? Best Regards, Achiyama

I am sorry for this mishap, but later replacements are not possible. Tough luck, so let's hope that Irie will return later in the basho. Thanks Randomitsuki, Hopefully Irie appears later, or I'll blame it on bad luck. Regards, Achiyama

    Lowest Division Games Aki 2011

I am sorry to hear that the Jo-Game won't be available this Basho. I am and will be interested in playing it as it expands my continuous sumo education to the lowest 2 divisions and the newcomers. So count me in if you decide to offer it in the future. I want personally to thank Itachi for maintaining the Sandanme and Jo-games in a such professional manner even if the participants could be counted on the fingers of one hand. I have a suggestion for the Jo-game to simplify it, for example: for Jonidan (similar to the Sandanme game) - devide the banzuke into 10-rikishi sections and/or 20-rikishi sections. for Jonokuchi - devide the banzuke into 5 or more (depending on the number of rikishi) 8-rikishi sections. This will be a simpler way to play it and maintain it. These are just my thoughts. Best regards, Achiyama

    July 2011 Retirees

Not that Byakko, the other one. (Can't believe Kinta neglected to post the proper long vowel...) By the way I was gonna ask this question long ago. Is it o.k. 2 rikishi to have the same shikona? As I know a rikishi has to retire and than the same shikona could be given to somebody else. Am I right or not? I had in mind Byakko. They might be pronounced differently but the written names look the same. Are there other rikishi (active in the present) who share the same shikona? Just curious if somebody can answer this question. Regards, Achiyama
