Yeah, the database is down - actually more of an on-and-off situation as often shortly before all the sumo games deadlines...

GTB- Guess the Banzuke- Kyushu 2019 -and results!!

just squeezed in my entry (no. 97), deciding to be totally greedy in regards to potential extra sanyaku slots. After submitting it, I counted a total of 98 entries - will we crack 100?

Japan beat Ireland at Rugby World Cup

Amazing match indeed! This upset is even bigger than the win against the Springbocks at RWC 2015, because after that, everybody knew to take the Brave Blossoms seriously. Outstanding approach by the Brave Blossoms' Head Coach. He targeted the apparently weaker fitness of the Irish by trying to avoid stopping the clock or any stoppage of play as much as possible. Ireland seemed out of breath after the first 20 minutes until the end of the game. What a masterpiece! Omedetou!

happy b-day to one of this forum's dai yokozuna! I just found out by coincidence that it is dai yokozuna Asashoryu's birthday as well today! Good company you got there! (btw, I share b-day with Akiseyama.... *sigh*)

2019 Aki Basho Discussion (spoiler alert!)

Escaping or delaying almost certain defeat from a very disadvantageous position is something I would surely see being honored in the same way as any attacking maneuver. I think a lot of people are thrilled by such amazing body control and sense of balance. It is a bit like those defense specialists in table tennis that just keep on returning the smashes by their opponent, standing 5 meters behind the plate just patiently waiting for the smasher to make a mistake (or getting exhausted). Just my 2 yen...

2019 Aki Basho Discussion (spoiler alert!)

The only one who can stop it - even if both rikishi agree it might be a matta - is the gyoji, so hats off to sharp minded Takagenji. He needs every win, no matta how he gets it.
