    Assorted youtube ditties

I'd like to bring to your attention this amazing account (though now that I've done so on this site,we can probably expect the user to be banned in the near future :-( ) http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=Bocintosh&p=r I particularly like Takanohana's bouts. At his peak the man WAS sumo- absolutely mesmerising! Against Akebono: Against Musashimaru Against Kaio: Against Musoyama You can use realplayer to download these clips onto your computer. With realplayer, a button usually appear on the top right hand corner of the screen, when your cursor hovers over it, which gives you the option of downloading the clip .

Ex-Kyokushuuzan to run for Mongolian Parliament

I realise ,as a foreigner,I may have gained an alarmist and unrealistic picture of Mongolia by reading the headlines in the international media outlets. Still... let's hope that Mongolian forum members and their family and friends are safe and well. I'd assume ,in this difficult situation ,sport is the last thing on people's minds.

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Surely it can't be that difficult mastering Italian if he's already fluent in ,the fellow Romance languages ,Portugese and Spanish and given the fact that he had a lot of time on his hand.

    Evolution of Sumo

I sincerely doubt that JAB. In a punch the energy from a punch is transferred to the opponent in a more concentrated fashion through the hard bony knuckles while in a palm strike the energy is cushioned and distributed over a larger area through the fleshy palms. Feel free to compare... Asashoryu: Jack Dempsey: edit: Though of course in a palm strike to the head you don't have to worry about breaking your hand on your opponent's skull A very real possibility if you punch somebody without handwrapping or gloves.

    Who is this? Quiz.

Clearly it's number 5. His supporter's association chose Bugs Bunny to be his bridegroom and the wedding was broadcast live on NHK.

Try this link for some interesting techniques presented by Hiro Morita: http://www.technogirls.org/sumo/Sumo_News....hiai_Techniques Click on the camera icon to download. For me,if I click on the camera in Mozilla Firefox, I get a page with a 'no video' message. But if I open the page in Internet Explorer it downloads OK. Hope you find some of the info there useful,Jake! (I am not worthy...)

Here's footage of the prize gving ceremony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC_tiH1LB4k...feature=related Ask Fay or Harry to translate this for you as an exercise! I think this is the translation of the interview immediately after the bout, but not the prize-giving ceremony though: http://paper.standartnews.com/en/article.p...p;article=23900 But look what I've found! (I dunno...) 114 good quality Kotooshu photos on a single website! (Yucky...) http://mainichi.jp/enta/sports/graph/2008/kotooshu/?inb=yt (edit:here is the English dub for the prize giving ceremony: )

    Asa's sumo - worthy of a Y?

I blame Kyokushuzan's foolish Japanese stablemate Kyokudozan for giving him too many ideas! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyokudozan_Kazuyasu (I dunno...) I'm curious. How did people rate Kyokudozan's effectiveness as a politician? How well did he represent the interests of his constituents?

    Toyozakura and Magaki incidents

http://archive.salon.com/people/feature/20...umo/index2.html Quote:Wakanohana can't get sentimental; death cannot become a fear. "You often hear about trainees found floating in the bath after practice," he remarks deadpan. "Their hearts stop beating -- I have seen some bad stuff: Broken necks and protruding collarbones are common injuries." http://espn.go.com/page2/s/caple/021115.html Quote:"He told us about some of the hazing rituals they do which don't get talked about much," Fetters said. "It's like in football, but worse. He said one guy was doing pushups and a sumo put a knife under his throat and held it there while he was doing them. We all know of course the 'tough love' Chiyonofuji famously gave Hokutenyu's little brother. (Sign of disapproval...) It's all part and parcel of the sport,I guess! (Clapping wildly...)
