Although I'm gutted I missed it, I'm glad Fay managed to capture the moment and that there is video elsewhere. The numbering above them makes the photo look like forensic evidence though (Laughing...)

Spot on!

There was a mad scrum in front of the NHK booth at the start of the Makuuchi matches of the crowd getting photos of Wajima & Demon. Then Gold Hat man (who I like less and less the more I see of him) tries to push away those queueing to get a pic in front of the booth, then opens the booth's side door & asks if he can go in & get some air time with them (he was denied). Instead, he gets in front of the booth and starts waving wildly in front of it. Feel free to pass on some choice phrases for me to shout at him. The most insulting thing I can think of from my limited vocabulary is "mottainai" (useless?), which I feel isn't "pow" enough.

Dang, just when I thought I could accuse him of footballer dramatics. (Being thrown tomatoes at...)

Ironic that it was the left knee that buckled since it's his right that's taped up. Looking at video replays, it was the taped right knee that he was cradling when he was on his back, and hobbled off on his left.

Jonokuchi started at 08:40 today, so with 10 jonokuchi bouts 9am (or what Washuyama said) would be a good guess for jonidan.

Would someone be able to record today's broadcast?

Obama's ancestry is part Kenyan, not Nigerian.

I hope that's the end. I'm not sure why they scheduled another day today, unless the NSK didn't get enough 3-win rikishi from yesterday. According to this banzuke.com post, the maezumo graduates are presented at least 2 times before the end of the tournament. I await gasps from the crowd if/when Mori steps out.

Cheers, Azumashida (Whistling...) Even though the press has thinned out, I was kind of surprised at how many media turned up on Maezumo Day 1. Since catching up on from reading the new recruits post, I now understand that there's a lot of media interest for the Takanohana-beya twins. Most of the people who've been turning up to watch have seem to be fans of theirs. Just wondering, have any prospects disappointed? Would Takarafuji (ex-Sugiyama) be in that category?

Maezumo has started more or less at 08:40 every morning. If it's on again tomorrow, you'll have an extra few minutes of (Neener, neener...)

I've corrected the records for Azumaryu, Kishi, and Takatoshi, after recounting the W-L records from each day & rewatching those bouts. The Day 4 video is now up as well. Again, feel free to help me correct the results if you see any discrepancies between what I filmed and the posted results; nobody's perfect. (Oops!) Lastly, the Kokugikan stewards said there'll be maezumo tomorrow. Does anyone have tomorrow's torikumi who can confirm this?

This doesn't really fit - who won here? Edit: I see the video is uploaded, thanks for that!! Well, this answered my question of course. Today's bouts and the current standings are in Sumo Reference now. Keep in mind the results I post are from what I watched, so please correct any results that look "off."

I was just asking myself the same question. How do I find out if there is another round tomorrow? Somehow the scores don't look finished to me, I guess there will be some final bouts tomorrow. There'll be another round tomorrow, as confirmed by the stewards.

OMG LOL (Sorry if mentioned earlier) When YMY was interviewed by NHK after his Day 2 win, the reporter said YMY looked like he lost weight and asked if he was on a diet, to which YMY replied "no, not really..." Thanks as always, Jonosuke!
