    New recruits for Haru 2016

That struck me as weird, too. There are loads of 1998-born high schoolers in the 1997/98 lot, but yeah, no 2001 guys in the even larger 00/01 middle school lot.Maybe a new age cutoff was introduced in the Japanese school system ten years ago? I guess we shall see.

    Sumo related new subforums

Sure, it's a problem people have when actually creating a new thread. Also, they are useful when searching for past stuff. Sure, for reading the newest posts you don't need subforums too much (although even your example badly needs the Games subforum).

    New Banzuke for Haru 2016

They actually sell those at the basho. I have a couple of 'em. This is exactly what the tweet is saying, it's from the Kokugikan Shop after all. The Japanese name also is in the tweet: 絵番付 or ebanzuke in Romaji.

GTB Oh I saka at this 2016- results too!

Sorry for being late, but the GTB archive is up to date now. Here are the selection stats, interesting as always. Only 8 had Akiseyama on his correct rank. According to our experts Hidenoumi and Sokokurai were rather unlucky while Toyohibiki and Amuru had the most banzuke luck.

    Kotoshogiku's Yusho Repercussion

You know this is about 90 people per meter which is literally unbelievable.
  8. Sadly the backside isn't naming the rikishi would have been too easy. I also didn't have luck finding the isolated image of the bottom right.

    Kotoshogiku's Yusho Repercussion

The "basho that wasn't a basho" usually counts in all counts that count. But in Haru 2011 really was nothing that counted because of two rather overwhelming reasons (first the yaocho scandal and after cancellation of the basho the Tohoku tsunami happened which rather likely would have lead to a cancellation or at least a stop of its own in the mid of the basho so they were incredibly lucky with the timing of the scandal). So to be exact, there were 58 basho between the Japanese yusho.

You are too funny, you missed to mention the big elephant stomach in the room? Back then this body type was far from the norm.

Sumo DB Inquiries (Did I get it right?)

The "Sumo" magazine published kimarite for lower divisions only since Nagoya 1991 or so, so the database is pretty much complete with regard to publicly available kimarite.

Basho Talk - Hatsu Basho 2016 +++ Spoiler Alert! +++

It's the other way around: Japanese people don't steal bikes because they are locked. No, it's the evil foreigners of course. They are getting too numerous, and something must be done against that, starting with locking bikes. :-O

Oh, and my daily picking order: Bench Sumo Sumo Game ISP Chaingang (sometimes) I just don't play the other daily games anymore as I don't want to need more than a few minutes each day for this stuff. Maximum five minutes needed including import of results etc.

    Basho attendance

The "majority" never was interested much in sumo. And as was already said, the biggest crisis is long over as Endo more than proved that a Japanese rikishi mustn't necessarily be good to engage young fans. And in fact pre-depression Ichinojo showed that even foreign rikishi can conjure up quite some hype. Back in Aki 2004 I had no problem getting cheap tickets for all 15 days - no chance for this now.

    Maegashira game Hatsu 2016

The missing day 15 results had nothing to do with the double entries, just another automation hiccup. I gave it a poke and the results are there now. Besides, Kyodaitimu and Norizo didn't pick both rikishi in one bout, they picked the same rikishi two times - just the last three bouts as usual. ;-) Blind picking can indeed leed to the yusho in this game as I have proven myself in the past. :-)

Basho Talk - Hatsu Basho 2016 +++ Spoiler Alert! +++

Okay everyone, after skimming through all the yusho winners up to some time back, I have finally found the answer to my own question. The last basho where all six division winners were Japanese was Nagoya 2003. This was the fourth yusho won by former Ozeki Kaio. Hmm, I would have thought a statsy guy like you would be quite familiar with the Query tool of Sumo Reference. You can't see all stats with it but quite some. Your question was answered with a simple query, also arriving at Nagoya 2003 (and Nagoya 2001 before that).

    Games Bugs

Sorry about that. In rare instances bouts gets read two times. I delete the double bouts then and point the picks to the correct bout. Worked as usual for ISP, Sekitoto and (mostly) for Maegashira Game (not needed in TTT as picks are saved only with Rikishi, not with bout). But for Maegashira Game two (not so) funny guys thought it was the perfect occasion to select the same guy twice. Since a valid Maegashira Game pick must have three selections I decided to delete these bogus day 15 picks completely. They still can make there picks until the deadline of course - I'm speaking of Norizo and Kyodaitimu.

Basho Talk - Hatsu Basho 2016 +++ Spoiler Alert! +++

Ok, but what do you say if Kotoshogiku indeed loses against the fellow Japanese rikishi? Those statements "I don't believe rikishi X will beat rikishi Y now that Z is on the line" have proven wrong too many times in the recent past, it's hard to take that even serious.

Maybe it's the old? I googled a bit and he hopefully will be 90 years old in April.
