    Games bugs Natsu Basho

Yes, there was a bug caused by his general newishness. I corrected it and added Mitakeumi to all players without a pick for the juryo hope.

GTB Cashew Natsu 2015 - Natsukashii.

And the selection stats are in! This time the banzuke comitee managed to really surprise our elite field of guessperts, I must say. Lots of flips, even over more than two ranks, and from M8e downwards it is going really wild, with Endo getting a shutout on the players. Four players can claim a moral victory with their M9e guess though, getting one point. Guesses for Okinoumi and Fujiazuma were all over the place, two players even not selecting Okinoumi at all.

    Basho Talk Haru 2015

The only other shin-sekiwake or shin-komusubi in the six-basho era with 13 wins was Kotooshu. Annenyama was darn close with 13-2 in Natsu 1957 (Nagoya had its first basho in 1958) - he even won the yusho as shin-komusubi (the only such yusho ever) to reach his career high rank of sekiwake one basho later...The 12-3 bunch isn't bigger either featuring Miyabiyama (shin-komusubi), Yutakayama and Taiho (both shin-sekiwake)

    Basho Talk Haru 2015

Hakuho's win streak against shin-Komuusubi or shin-Sekiwake ended today as well at 35 wins. It's not so much a streak but an unblemished record which got tarnished.

    Basho Talk Haru 2015

I forgive you for being relatively new, but... sumo right now definitely is a lot more popular than a few years ago. Kensho records, all days sold out in Osaka, what more do you want? Or another question, what actually is your time frame for "already decreasing"? The last two months? The last week? I really don't understand this one. (Eh?)

    Sumo Database Questions

It is not "bouts", it's "apperances" which count. Appearance = being on the dohyo. Fusen wins count, fusen losses not.

    Basho Talk Haru 2015

Eh, isn't it rather the other way around? I understand what you mean, but Hakuho made a mad dash to break the all-time record, no? Limping and walking would equate a lot of "yokozunaitis"-style kyujo while winning once a year in the twilight of his career which would be the typical end for even the best of them, compare: Taiho: 2 yusho in his last two years Kitanoumi: 1 yusho in his last three years Takanohana: 2 yusho in his last four years Asashoryu even with an artificially cut short career had only 2 yusho in his last eleven basho Akebono went out strong (if you omit his pro wrestling career), but with some cherry picking he had only 3 yusho in his last three years

    Haru 2015 Videos- Days 1-15

Puh, I hunted a non-existing bug. Please mention next time that it's the VIDEO which was missing/duplicated. The bouts itself seem to be just fine.

    Hakuho - Yusho-gaku 33

Sorry about that. You sure are totally correct. I added the missing Yusho-Gaku to the database.

    New recruits for Haru 2015

Googling for his last name brings up several social media accounts of his parents, including a bunch of stuff in Portuguese - I think he's either half or three-quarters Brazilian (though obviously resident in Japan). His mother has both a Japanese and a Brazilian-sounding given name and his father doesn't look Japanese at all. It turned out I've found nothing because I searched "Kurowski" assuming the "Kuroswiski" was a misspell on the kyokai part. . His mother is very probably Brazilian, the name is indeed Brazilian and she attended school in Brazil. As to the father I wouldn't be surprised if it he is an adoptive father and the kid took up his name. Is this Goto Kurowski? If so it's strange, no sumo reference at all! Nah, looks too pale and way too old. Further up in this thread is a good pic of him.

    UDH Haru Basho 2015

The game is run from a German server. The "Time: " field apparently is the server time. Since Germany right now is 8 hours behind JST this means 12:49 JST. The *other* time field is 11:49 which may have several reasons, but I don't see that many reasons the 4:49 isn't good ole CET.

    UDH Haru Basho 2015

Look, the basho is starting on a Sunday in Japan. I understand timzones can be confusing (at least for me), but really, Japanese players have to enter on Sunday at the latest for pre-basho games, no? Like pandaazuma stated with Paper Oyakata (a game with many Japanese players), Sunday morning is an excellent time for japanese people to think about sumo games and is indeed a very likely option.

    UDH Haru Basho 2015

I know what you're saying, and it's definitely true for the serious gamers, but there are plenty of casual players out there who just try to get their picks in at the last minute. So surely every chance should be given to everyone to get into the game on time. I wonder how many people miss the deadline every basho! Even I, a keen gamer, did not know the deadline was 12:00...same for Hoshitori! Well, for Hoshitori at least you'd learn it the hard way as entries automagically aren't possible after the deadline...

    Haru 2015 Videos- Days 1-15

Usually gets going on Day 3, I believe. Not in Haru. Usually mae-zumo starts on day 3 and rikishi finish after 3 wins. In Haru mae-zumo is done in two groups starting at day 2 and 3, and rikishi finish after 2 wins.
